Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0020hrs Charlie Company SGT GOAT inspected bunkers 2, 3 and 5 all satisfactory. At 0707hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 39 is on station for Box 51 out of Box at 0845hrs with negative results. At 0815hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 6 is on station at this time. At 0845hrs APD 268 160830, BS7135 to BS7535 to BS7927 to BS7527, Intelligence located 403 sapper and VC units in this area Brigade informed us. At 0900hrs PF 153 Date/Time/Grid 152355 vicinity BS738540 had contact with unknown size force at above grid, results were 2 VC KIA, CIA 1 M-16, Illumination was fired by LZ Snoopy as requested by CPT Wink, 1 US confirmed at 160900hrs. At 0940hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 39 is going into APD Boxes 263 and 264. No friendly in boxes, no artillery in boxes, 263 free fire, 264 fire for fire, clear by (AW). At 1015hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Warlord 39 is out of APD 264, didn’t work APD 263 due to weather. At 1155hrs Combat Assault for Alpha and Bravo Companies, 1st PZ 1102hrs and 5th (last) LZ at 1155hrs. At 1201hrs MACV Mo Duc, PF 172 vicinity BS770555 made contact with VC element in a bunker, results 2 PF WIA 1 Dust Off and 1 minor. Also 3 VC KIA, 2 AK 47 CIA along with 4 shirts, 1 poncho and 1 pair of sandals, also 1 VCS CIA, Dust Off completed at 1120hrs by Dusty 88. At 1925hrs TMF Sting 62C, has 5 to 6 moving east with negative metal confirmation, engaged with 10 HE rounds Artillery 105mm. String 64 A Target 12 personnel moving east with negative metal confirmed and engaged with 10 HE rounds Artillery 105mm. At 2230hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out Charlie Company has 2. At 2345hrs Bravo Company SGT Penley inspected bunkers 15, 16, 17 and 9 all were satisfactory. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23, CO-64.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0915hrs 11 Brigade 4-21 Infantry last element cleared LZ Bronco, departed by Convoy 25 Pax with 30 Vehicles. Convoy also carried personnel from 6-11 Artillery and 1-20 Infantry for Security arrived Chu Lai 1200hrs and convoy closed on LZ Bronco at 2000hrs.

 

Alpha Company
June 16, 1971

Alpha Company all elements on move to link up and by 0915hrs all elements at BS677550. Alpha and Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault started PZ at 1102hrs and finished LZ at 1132hrs. Alpha Company ends up at LZ Bronco to work with Delta Company on Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Bravo Company
June 16, 1971

Bravo Company is moving all elements to a PZ location. At 1102hrs Alpha Company and Bravo Company conduct combat Assault 1st PZ at 1102hrs and last LZ, leaves Bravo Company on LZ Liz and takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2359hrs Bravo Company SGT Penley inspected the Bunker line.

 

Charlie Company
June 16, 1971

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0020hrs Charlie Company SGT GOAT inspected bunkers 2, 3 and 5 all satisfactory. At 1155hrs 1-20 Infantry reports a Combat Assault for Alpha and Bravo Companies, 1st PZ 1102hrs 5th (last) LZ at 1155hrs. At 1200hrs Charlie Company reports Command Post and 3rd Platoon moving to BS738415, 2nd Platoon to Patrol Base at BS737428. At 2015hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon in Night Defense Position at BS739430 and Command Post and 3rd Platoon at BS737415.

 

Delta Company
June 16, 1971

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco and the 11 Brigade. Delta Company also provided Security for the Convoy from LZ Bronco to LZ Chu Lai and return to LZ Bronco.

 

Echo Company
June 16, 1971

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0615hrs Recon Patrol is moving out to BS740440.
