Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0250hrs Radar at 2400hrs sighted 1 to 5 stationary personnel at BS809484 and engaged with 12 HE rounds and at 0130hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel at BS724491 and engaged with 16 HE rounds, at 0215hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS730484 and engaged with 18 HE rounds. At 1010hrs Helix (FAC) for the last 2 days we have spotted Vietnamese crossing the river at BS829406, the information was passed on to Bravo Company. At 1035hrs MACV Mo Duc M26 and the PF and RF are pulling out of their blocking positions and checked the area where they received sniper fire this morning. They received a few more rounds with negative casualties or findings. At 0737hrs Delta Company reports the Charlie Company 26 Engineer are moving to their work site at BS718589. At 1130hrs the TMF String 73 was activated by 3 to 4 personnel that where moving southwest with metal detected at BS773369. The target was engaged with 16 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 1740hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer a total of 27 hours were worked with 19 acres cleared at BS740610, BS741609, BS740615, and BS745615 (200X400 square meters). We destroyed a 105mm round, used 300 gallons of fuel, and 1 pound of C4. We have 4 D7 operational and 2 CEV are operational. At 1810hrs we request a routine Dust Off for 2 US with a temperature of 101 and possibly they have the mumps, Names (Keys and Perez) from Charlie Company 26 Engineer. At 1911hrs the TMF at 1910hrs String 66 was activated by 4 personnel that where moving southeast with metal confirmed at BS747368, the target was engaged with 14 VT rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2140hrs Radar on North OP sighted 3 to 4 stationary personnel at BS753451 with negative clearance.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road to LZ Liz. Alpha Company reports SP4 ROBERT LEE GRAY DIED OF WOUNDS HE RECEIVED (SEE JUNE 13, 1970)
Bravo Company
June 16, 1970
At 0817hrs the Bravo Company 54 element picked up one female detainee at BS811420, no ID, 25 and sent to MACV. At 1430hrs Bravo Company we requests a priority Dust Off for 2 Children with burns to the body at grid BS789417, unknown where they received these burns, completed at 1440hrs. At 1715hrs the 98 element is moving to BS805430 and at 1735hrs the 98 element found and destroyed a bunker, approximately 4 X 6 hidden in a hedgerow at BS803453. At 2245hrs Bravo Company the 93 element received 2 incoming, blooper rounds, of unknown size and type, one within the perimeter and one did not explode, the round came from the south at BS775435 and there was negative casualties or damage.
Charlie Company

At 0711hrs Charlie Company the 13 and 32 elements are moving out to BS709495 and BS716400 respectively. At 0845hrs Charlie Company the 96 element is at BS705504, the 13 element is at BS706484 and the 56 element is closed on the Command Post in 15 to 20 minutes. At 1620hrs Charlie Company the 13 element found a small, recently used, base camp at BS708493. It consisted of 3 caves approximately 6’ X 4’ X 3’ and 3 sleeping positions we also found 2 five pound bags of rice, one kerosene lantern and some documents. All will be destroyed with the documents to be turned in. At 1945hrs Charlie Company 16 element is moving to their snake engaged at grid BS717489, 3 VC to their east at approximately 25 meters and checked the area results 1 VC KIA, bag of rice green pants, blue shirt with documents, age 20. The VC KIA, was killed by Charlie Company sniper (Church), Late Report the 13 element at BS707486 also found 1 US survival knife, 4 D type batteries, two pair of scissors, 1 M-60 ammo can, 8’ of copper wire, tobacco and 1 sandbag of cement and two bottles of kerosene.
Delta Company

At 0623hrs Delta Company the 53 and 54 elements have closed. At 0700hrs Delta Company the entire element moving to link up with 16 and 15 snakes, then will start their cordon and search of the preplanned area. At 0737hrs Delta Company reports the Charlie Company 26 Engineer are moving to their work site at BS718589. At 0737hrs Delta Company the cordon and search is complete with negative findings and all Delta Company elements are in the Day Logger. At 0757hrs Delta Company 93 and the 26 Engineer are located at BS743610. At 1245hrs Delta Company checking the Ville at BS732583and found a M72 Law in a hootch under a bed, which was destroyed. At 1705hrs Delta Company 13 element is moving out to conduct Cordon and Search at BS728590 and the 53 element will Cordon and Search at BS727584. At 1810hrs we request a routine Dust Off for 2 US with a temperature of 101 and possibly they have the mumps. The Two US Names (Keys and Perez) from Charlie Company 26 Engineer. At 1945hrs Delta Company the Command Post is in their Night Defense Position at BS728596 with multiple snake locations.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 2 for a total expended of 20 HE and a flashette round of 106 recoilless. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1805hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to LZ Max. At 2115hrs Recon the 13 element is moving to BS745472, the 14 element is moving to BS732486 and the 15 element is moving to BS747408, all snake are in location.
