Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0102hrs 1-20 Infantry Approval of Charlie and Alpha Company change in Area of Operation, Alpha Company now Upper Left BS6950 and Charlie Company lower Right BS7440. At 0715hrs RF 103 ambushed 1 squad of VC, no friendly casualties, enemy casualties unknown, Enemy where moving east to west at grid BS773471. At 0726hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 0839hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 5 is on station at this time. At 1315hrs 1-20 Infantry Hornet 18 is on station for re supply. At 1548hrs Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery requested Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with burns to 40% of body, happened while spreading fog oil, tripped a trip flare and ignited the fog oil. At 1615hrs Dust Off completed by Bird #88. At 1725hrs LATE SPOT 4-4 ARVN at 161100hrs vicinity BS595469 while on Search and clear found 500 Kilo of corn, 2000 rounds AK 47 ammo, 100 82mm rounds, 200 first aid bandages and 5 hootches. At 1726hrs 1-4 ARVN at 161330hrs while on Search and Clear Operation at BS570424 hit a unknown type Booby trap, 1 ARVN WIA who was Dusted Off. At 1859hrs RF 103 element at 1755hrs vicinity BS758568, RF is going to Ambush location where ambushed by VC. The resulting in 1 RF KIA and 2 RF WIA, place of pick up at OP Frag by #89, completed at 1910hrs to Quang Ngai. At 2038hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord Blue is on station for Box 62 and broke station at 2140hrs with negative findings. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
July 16, 1971
Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1110hrs Alpha Company Command Post request priority Dust Off for 1 US with acute side pains, line #B8556, Balianes, Mariano PFC and Dust Off 81 completed at 1145hrs at BS716428. At 2010hrs Alpha Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS735415 with 1st Platoon at BS718424 with 3 Mechanical Ambush out. SP4 Mariano Balianes was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company is at Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
Charlie Company
July 16, 1971
Charlie Company set up Patrol Base and conducts multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 0720hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon is moving to their Patrol Base vicinity BS654521 and at 0849hrs shifted in Patrol Base to BS667524. At 2110hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post move into their Night Defense Position at BS665527.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and a Security Mission for the Access Road.
Echo Company
July 16, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1755hrs Recon is moving out to vicinity BS762409. At 2036hrs Recon has closed on their Night Defense Position at BS762409.
