Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0226hrs PF 1-20 Infantry TOC at BS826340 PF located at BS826340 made contact with 4 VC and think they wounded 1 VC, APC on Bridge 107 heard 2 rounds in that area, no casualties. At 0226hrs PF 1-20 Infantry TOC at BS863314 PF at BS863314 made contact with 8-10 VC no further information an APC has communications with PF and got reports from them. At 0230hrs Late Entry at 0130hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC ARVN found a US Map with no markings, Map II BS6738 II "AN LAO" found at BS887296. ARVN fired an approximately 4 VCS with negative assessment. At 0710hrs Late Entry at 2355hrs 15 July 1968 Information E Troop 1st Calvary at BS890296, near Bridge 104 VC using loud speakers saying that they will over run Bridge 104 tonight. At 0710hrs Late Entry 0015hrs Information MACV Duc Pho PF is setting an ambush at BS887296 to see if they can find the people using the loud speakers saying that they will over run Bridge 104. At 1210hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request 3 scout Dogs and 3 handlers to work with Alpha Company, pick up time will be 0700hrs at southeast pad.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0811hrs Alpha Company location is at BS819329. At 0945hrs Alpha Company at BS828313 engaged 1 VC evading results is 1 VC WIA, CIA, Dust Off requested. At 1340hrs Alpha Company at BS815314 found tunnel 4’ X 3’ reinforced by 2 X 8 beams destroyed. At 1850hrs Alpha Company (-) locations reports Night Defense Position at BS825353 with ambushes at BS816323, BS829321, BS820310. At 1945hrs Alpha Company at BS829309 received 2 12 round burst of automatic weapon fire and 4 M-79 rounds negative casualties fired artillery with unknown results.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company

At 0811hrs Charlie Company is located at BS764383and by 1210hrs Charlie Company is at BS756377. At 1850hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position is at BS757373 with ambushes outside of LZ Bronco at BS766389, BS754383 and BS765364.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1850hrs Delta Company at LZ Charlie Brown with element at BS904239 with ambushes at BS903243, BS909242 and security of Bridge 94.
Echo Company
July 16, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Infantry Battalion. At 1025hrs Recon Platoon 3-1 Infantry had sent 1 slick to pick 2 men up and stop by Special Forces Camp at Minh Long on return trip and pick up 4 men from Recon 1-20 Infantry and returned them to LZ Bronco. Recon Platoon continued to refit at LZ Bronco. At 1850hrs Late Entry Duc Pho MACV at 2200hrs last night VC brought 82mm mortar rounds to BS834395 using 30-35 laborers to carry ammo. There was no mortar tube. Believed will be use on attack on LZ Bronco. Have person who saw VC, says he can show location of ammo, is willing to lead troops to location. At 1850hrs Late Entry 1-20 Infantry S-2 1720hrs Request 6 scout dogs and 6 handlers to work with Alpha, Charlie, and Delta Company on 17 July 1968, pick up with be at southeast pad at 0730hrs. At 1850hrs Late Entry Duc Pho MACV 1730hrs US vehicle has hit some little people, request Military Police come to this location. Military Police found out that a Vietnamese on a motor scooter ran into back of a road grader and had a cut on his head, No further action required.
