Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0142hrs TMF time called 0121hrs String 51 C, have stationary target with negative metal confirmation, negative clearance due to friendly. At 0550hrs Weather fair and partly cloudy, temperature 65 to 79 with humidity 70 to 90%, winds east to southeast at 5-12 knots outlook little change through Sunday. At 0849hrs Helix 39 on station, sent to area east of Red ball and south of Nui Ong Do. At 0912hrs Primo 4 on station for Command and Control Helicopter and Helix 39 is breaking station. At 0937hrs S-4 is moving to LZ Dragon with 2 trucks. At 1020hrs Primo 4 is breaking station (1 Hour). At 1031hrs S-4 has completed truck move with Bravo Company and closed on LZ Liz at 1049hrs. At 1325hrs S-4 Dolphin 417 is on station for re supply. At 1455hrs Primo 5 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 1610hrs Primo 5 is breaking station (1 Hour). At 1325hrs S-4 Dolphin 417 is on station for re supply and breaks station at 1705hrs. At 1930hrs TMF at 1914hrs String 312 C spotted 1 to 2 personnel moving northwest and southeast at 3 miles per hour, negative metal confirmed at 1922hrs and engaged with 12 VT Artillery 105mm. Legend: 1st Platoon 71-76, 2nd Platoon 91-96, 3rd Platoon 41-46, 4th Platoon 01-06, CO-30.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0900hrs Alpha Company Command Post with 3rd and 4th Platoon is moving to patrol Base at BS713427, 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS705423 and 1st Platoon in patrol base at BS723396. At 0955hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is moving out for BS720388. At 1250hrs Alpha Company request a Priority Dust Off for 1 US, heat exhaustion vicinity BS718420 completed 1305hrs. At 1330hrs Re supply of Alpha Company by air was completed. At 1935hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon Night Defense Position vicinity BS699425 sighted 3-5 VC along the river. They are engaging with Artillery at this time, had negative results, will check this area out at fist light. Alpha Company has multiple ambushes out tonight. At 2026hrs Alpha Company Command Post and 4th Platoon is at BS723433, 3rd Platoon at BS710437, BS706419, 1st Platoon at BS724411, BS739396 and 2nd Platoon at BS705441 and BS705423. At 2240hrs Alpha Company Radar picked up 3 to 5 personnel vicinity BS706425, due to terrain Alpha Company could not react, fired Artillery on target when element moved to a safe proximity.
Bravo Company

At 0730hrs Bravo Company elements are moving to Outposts vicinity BS693538, BS699562 and BS673572. At 1201hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon at OP Wink BS699562, 2nd Platoon at OP Woodstock BS673572, 1st and 4th Platoon at OP Pax BS693538. At 1915hrs Bravo Company and RF 425 and MAT 167 on patrol detonated a booby trap it was a hand frag with trip wire. The US advisor and 1 RF were wounded. Dust Off was called and at 1600hrs Dust Off 54 went in for pick up. While on ground drew 10 to 20 rounds of small arms fire and 1 B-40 rocket with negative hits, came from a tree line 250 meters to the north. After Dust Off was completed elements of Bravo Company 2nd Platoon and RF 425 searched the area with negative findings. At 2000hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon in location at BS677576, 3rd Platoon is at BS696560 and 1st Platoon ambush is at BS691542.
Charlie Company

At 0711hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon ambush closed vicinity BS693568. At 1210hrs Charlie Company request a Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with traumatic amputation of legs to minor frag wounds, suffered from booby trap completed at 1219hrs, E-5 Stephen Hinson, died later at 23rd Medical. At 1225hrs Charlie Company Reference 1210hrs at BS699560 moving out of the OP Wink hit a booby trap, 100 meters south of OP perimeter booby trap was a M-2 Mine, pressure type firing device, it was buried in some brush on the hillside. At 1505hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS704553. At 1815hrs Charlie Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS707544. At 2100hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS707433 while in Night Defense Position had 3 personnel walk near their position moving south to north at a distance of 10 meters. Engaged and Kit Carson Scout believes they hit at least 1 of them. Element checked the area but had negative findings. While check it out further in the morning had packs weapons and steel pots. SGT HERBERT STEPHEN HINSON IS LISTED AS KIA.

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2
Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
