Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0410hrs Saber Black is on station for Box 60. At 0440hrs Saber Black checking radar sighting in vicinity 766417, saw 1 person dropped weapon (SKS) and went into wood line. 4.2 Fire Mission called on the area with Saber Black observing, did observed and old dilapidated bunker in wood line. Saber Black engaged the wood line and did receive some small arms fire. Black broke station at 0505hrs to rearm and refuel. At 0535hrs Saber Black back is back on station to re check area vicinity BS764416, where he engaged 1 VC/NVA with weapon. Saber black observed another individual evading into a tree line. Also in this area he observed a plastic covered object about the size of a poncho, engaged area with negative results, broke station at 0550hrs. At 0659hrs Minuteman 69 is on station for Combat Assault will be AMC ship. At 0835hrs Primo 6 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 1010hrs Primo 6 is breaking station at this time. At 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault Bravo Company 0806hrs to 0845hrs. Victor 42 LZ at 0810hrs is at BS627557, 2. Victor 92 LZ 0828hrs is at BS614551, 3. LZ Victor 02 LZ 0830hrs is at BS623544, 4. Victor November 52 LZ 0844hrs is at BS623544, negative Artillery Prep, Americal Rules of Engagement apply. At 1155hrs MACV vicinity BS769531, request Urgent Dust Off for 2 Vietnamese children who hit mine, 1 child lost 1 leg, the other 1 had multiply frag wounds to his entire body completed at 1210hrs. At 1205hrs S-4 Hornet 839 is on station for re supply. At 1423hrs Primo 6 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter and at 1455hrs Primo 6 is breaking station. At 1520hrs 26 Engineers LZ Liz Access Road discovered partially detonated 105 round. Weren’t able to tell if it was command detonated or pressure detonated, it didn’t fully detonate but made a hole about 3’ in diameter, and broke up the road for about 6’. They said that it was possible that it had been fired there. At 1938hrs TMF Sting 312 A has stationary target negative metal was confirmation and at 1930hrs received negative clearance due to friendly in the area. At 2146hrs PF 147 vicinity BS713584 ambushed 8 VC, results 3 VC KIA with negative friendly casualties, no US confirmed. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0850hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon beginning mine sweep and at 0835hrs Alpha Company is in vicinity BS7642-BS7641. This was a response to grid Nighthawk engaged BS764416 and BS766417 were closely Visual Recon with negative finding. The specific spot of engagement was identified but drag marks or weapons could not be found. At 1220hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS753557 while providing security for Bull Dossier received 2 round small arms fire, and spotted 2 VC at distance of 600 meters, the platoon pursued but lost sight of them. They returned to escort dossier to OP Frag. The enemy evaded to west toward Mangroves, and at 1520hrs the 26th Engineer, at Access Road discovered partially detonated 105 round and unable to tell if command or pressure detonated. It didn’t fully detonated, made a hole about 3’ in diameter, and broke up the road for about 6’.
Bravo Company

At 0605hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon ambush closed at BS669533, 2nd Platoon at BS662525 and 3rd Platoon closed at BS676543. Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault starting at 0806hrs and end at 0845hrs. Bravo Company begins at BS623544, at 1205hrs Bravo Company vicinity BS621544, found 1 NVA rucksack, was factory made and had nothing inside about 1 year old. At 1215hrs Bravo Company 2nd platoon vicinity BS625556 detained 2 females 20, 35 years of age, both had negative ID, and were highly uncooperative. At 1225hrs Bravo Company vicinity BS613549, 3rd Platoon in their LZ detained 1 male age 15, dressed in blue and black, and had pack strap marks on shoulder. Also 1 female age 16 dressed in yellow and black both had negative ID. All detainee where back hauled to Military Intelligence at Bronco. At 1445hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS618534 on patrol detained 1 male and 2 females, Male Doi Nguyen age 45, Khakis ID, female 35, blue and black, negative ID, believed to be VC nurse, had 3 bottles antiseptic, 1 bottle Methiolade. The 2 females 38 dressed in black, negative ID and son was suspected VC all detainee again will be back hauled to Military Intelligence at Bronco. At 1820hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS617534 engaged 2 VC wearing black with AK 47, negative packs with negative results, 100 meters distance of engagement and evaded to the south. Bravo Company also detained 1 male age 56 wearing white and had no picture on ID Huyna Gio will be back hauled to Military Intelligence at Bronco. At 1825hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS617533 found 7 tunnel 4’ X 3’, 4 to 5 feel underground. At 1950hrs Bravo Company Command Post 1st Platoon and 4th Platoon is at BS617437, 1st Platoon ambushes BS624543, BS626544, 2nd Platoon BS624554, BS625553, BS624555 and 3rd Platoon BS617554, BS618554, and BS618553.
Charlie Company

At 1109hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to BS690513. At 1231hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon closed on OP Pax. Charlie Company is using some patrolling and has established a blocking position in their Area of Operation.
Delta Company

At 0715hrs Delta Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon is at BS712402, 2nd Platoon is at BS723394. At 0857hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS722387 and at 0939hrs report are at BS720386 and by 1020hrs closed at BS720396. At 1020hrs Delta Company (-) moving to BS695425. At 1235hrs Delta Company is at BS721419, while on the move requested a tactical Dust Off for US with possible broken leg 1LT Sidney M. Hopfer, Dust Off completed at 1245hrs. At 1445hrs Delta Company and Alpha Company 2nd Platoon is moving out for LZ Liz from OP Frag. At 1745hrs Delta Company Command Post, 3rd Platoon in their Night Defense Position is at BS701425, 2nd Platoon is at BS692424 and 1st Platoon ambushes at BS762416 and BS759410.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion At 1700hrs 4.2 Platoon has closed on OP Pax vicinity BS693538. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1941hrs Recon is in their Night location at BS657557.
