Headquarters and Headquarter Company
April 16, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at Nghia Hanh (BS616638) for OPERATION NORFOLK VICTORY. At 0715hrs Colonel Beers departing Area of Operation for liaison visit to 198th Light Infantry Brigade Headquarters. At 1300hrs E Troop reports their location at BS550620. At 10705hrs 1-20 Infantry reports items turned into VIP team, 1 RPG rocket (no fins), 7 concussion grenades, 3 Chi Com frag grenades, 3 60mm rounds and 1 57mm Recoilless Rifle rounds. At 1648hrs Late entry from 198th Light Infantry Brigade to 1-20 Infantry plans to locate Battalion for Trans at LZ Ross instead of LZ Baldy, 2-1 Infantry occupies 3 OP to west of LZ Ross, 2 OP manned by combined forces of PF and US. The 1-20 Infantry plan to occupy these OP upon relief of 2-1 Infantry coordinate with Company Commanders of 2-1 Infantry present manning requirements. General Young desires these OP continued to be manned. At 2000hrs 4-21 Infantry Command Post in operation as of this time located on LZ Thunder.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1840hrs Tripoli OP Observed at 848375 BS8-14 people sharks in area will check it out with negative results.
Alpha Company
April 16, 1968
Alpha Company continued to Sweep and Clear operations in their Area of Operation at 1000hrs Alpha Company is located at BS560596. At 1300hrs Alpha Company had moved to BS578603 and at1400hrs Alpha Company found a 250pound bomb and destroyed in place. At 1648hrs Late Entry: from 198th Brigade to 1-20 Infantry plan to locate Battalion forward trains at LZ Ross instead of LZ Baldy, 2-1 Infantry occupies 3 OP’s to west of Ross 2 OP’s manned by PF and US. 1-20 Infantry plan to occupy these OP upon relief of 2-1 Infantry. Coordinate with CO of 2-1 Infantry on present manning requirements. Brigadier General Young desires these OP continue to be manned. Alpha Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS589624.
Bravo Company
April 16, 1968
Bravo Company continued to use Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operations and at 1000hrs is located at BS590640. At 1300hrs Bravo Company is located at BS599640 as they use it for their Day Logger. At 1400hrs Alpha Company found at BS589603 a 250pounds bomb, destroyed in place. At 1648hrs Late Entry: from 198th Brigade to 1-20 Infantry plan to locate Battalion forward trains at LZ Ross instead of LZ Baldy, 2-1 Infantry occupies 3 OP’s to west of Ross 2 OP’s manned by PF and US. 1-20 Infantry plan to occupy these OP upon relief of 2-1 Infantry. Coordinate with CO of 2-1 Infantry on present manning requirements. Brigadier General Young desires these OP continue to be manned. At 1850hrs Bravo Company will use their Day Logger as their Night Defense Position.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will use Recon in Force as they conduct their Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation. At 1000hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS518647. At 0945hrs Charlie Company at is located at BS517645 found bloody bandages on trail, rice and fruit in a hole, search area with negative results and by 1300hrs Charlie Company has moved to located at BS514643. At 1600hrs Charlie Company is establishing their Night Defense Position at BS515632. At 1648hrs Late Entry: from 198th Brigade to 1-20 Infantry plan to locate Battalion forward trains at LZ Ross instead of LZ Baldy, 2-1 Infantry occupies 3 OP’s to west of Ross 2 OP’s manned by PF and US. 1-20 Infantry plan to occupy these OP upon relief of 2-1 Infantry. Coordinate with CO of 2-1 Infantry on present manning requirements. Brigadier General Young desires these OP continue to be manned. At 2030hrs Charlie Company reports their position at BS563600.
Delta Company
April 16, 1968
Delta Company continued Sweep and Clear operations in the area and at 1000hrs Delta Company is located at BS544658. At 1000hrs Delta Company reports their location at BS528674. At 1600hrs Delta Company is located at BS555638 and by 1800hrs will elements have moved into out Night Defense Position at BS555638. At 1648hrs Late Entry: from 198th Brigade to 1-20 Infantry plan to locate Battalion forward trains at LZ Ross instead of LZ Baldy, 2-1 Infantry occupies 3 OP’s to west of Ross 2 OP’s manned by PF and US 1-20 Infantry plan to occupy these OP upon relief of 2-1 Infantry. Coordinate with CO of 2-1 Infantry on present manning requirements. Brigadier General Young desires these OP continue to be manned.
Echo Company
April 16, 1968
Echo Company is located at Nghia Hanh where Battalion Forward is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear and S-4 section established the Rear Forward Defense location. The 4.2 Mortar Platoon where they continued their direction fire support for Battalion Operations. Recon continued their Security Mission for the Battalion and prepares to move north to LZ Ross.
