Headquarters and Headquarter Company
October 15, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. Bravo Company BS631818 mine sweep team found 1 PF WIA, bullet wound to head and grenade wound in stomach, Dust Off to the 27 Surgical at 1015hrs another PF with the wounded PF who had a mop with NVA location on it. All of the above info was passed to IPW CPT Wolf.PFC Fetters will remain at 27 Surgical with PF and mop and CPT Wolf is going down to investigate at this time. PFC Fetters is from the 1-20 Infantry (I believe it was James R. Fetters III).

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
October 15, 1968

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission with roving patrolling in their Area of Operation, Recon Platoon and E Troop are also located at LZ Dottie.

 

Bravo Company
October 15, 1968

Bravo Company patrol has moved back to LZ Buff and Bravo continued their Security Mission for LZ Buff. At 1810hrs Bravo Company 40 element has a roving patrol out now at BS541214.

 

Charlie Company
October 15, 1968

At 1445hrs Charlie Company at BS529764 while checking area observed 1 man evading fire warning shot did not stop results 1 VC KIA, no ID and no weapon. Charlie Company at 1545hrs vicinity BS853866 spotted 1 VC going into a hut, they where searching, results 1 VC KIA, no ID, no Weapon (man). At 1944hrs Charlie Company engaged 4 VC with results 4 VC KIA Charlie Company reports their (-) location BS853866 with 40 at BS537766 acting as (Short Range Patrol).

 

Delta Company
October 15, 1968

At 0908hrs Delta Company received small arms fire from grid BS553772 with negative casualties Delta Company 1-20 Infantry at 1035hrs at BS554768 hit Booby Trap 2 US WHA 1 (M) 1(E) dusted off by Command & Control helicopter a 1040hrs Booby Trap had pressure release hit on trail, the 2 US WHA, where Dust off and was completed by 1040hrs. At 1850hrs Delta Company received approximately 200 rounds automatic weapons fire and 5-7 60mm rounds results 2 US WHA, 1 with frag wound in jaw and 1 with frag in shoulder Dust Off completed at 1840hrs and we called in Artillery on suspect location with negative assessment. Sgt. OTTO WAYNE AUE LISTED AS KHA DIE OF WOUNDS (See October 14, 1968). PFC Clifford M. Long frag wounds, PFC Daniel A. Holmre injured twisted knee and SP4 Jose M.Valloje gunshot wound where evac to 312 Evac Hospital. PFC Robert F. Salimas sick malaria to the (27 Evac Surgical Hospital).

 

Echo Company
October 15, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon continued to have a Security Mission on LZ Dottie.
