Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0602hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection # 13, 9, 8, 7, 6 were checked all OK. At 1100hrs E Troop 1-1 Calvary, RF 103 LATE SPOT reports on 141430 vicinity 738622 found 8 VC graves 3 to 4 days old and 4 graves 2 week old, US confirmed. On 141500 they also discovered at vicinity BS734623 estimated Platoon size base camp with 2 day old food cans, 20 pounds rice, 1 quart of oil, fresh bunkers and trails, hootch with 5 each empty 155 shells. At 1000hrs MACV, Mo Duc RF 103 DATE/TIME at 122050 vicinity BS755554 sprang ambush, 1 VCI KIA (member of VC women’s executive section), 1 VCS was captured, 1 VC WIA who was dragged away by their comrades, and 4 M-26 grenades were captured. At 1150hrs To Brigade from S-3 Commanding Officer ADC M departed Fire Support Base Liz at 1140hrs discussed: 1. General situation and locations of units. 2. Efforts of RF/PF in the lowlands and our relationship. 3. Construction efforts on the Fire Support Base and bunker improvements. At 1238hrs Duc Pho Report: at 150315 vicinity BS844305 VC element of unknown size entered OP, there was no resistance or casualties on the part of RF 169 as they evacuated the area and believed to be in friendly hands at this time. Visual Recon over the area revealed that 2 bunkers were destroyed and the Out Post was held by RF force. At 1919hrs TMF Fire Mission at 1919hrs String 295 Target A has 3 to 5 personnel moving west to east at 3 miles per hour with metal confirmation. At 1947hrs LZ Liz at 1947hrs went under 100% and Alert ended at 2005hrs. At 2045hrs To Brigade S-3 From 1-20 Infantry S-3, Commanding Officer Reference Combat Assault on 161000 May as requested, have change, will insert 1 Platoon Charlie Company vicinity BS710489, have coordinated with Mo Duc agent to accompany platoon to exploit intelligence. At 2153hrs TMF String 290 Target C have unknown # stationary personnel, negative metal confirmation and engaged with 10 HE Artillery 105mm. At 2223hrs MACV Mo Duc, 1 Urgent Dust Off litter PSDF grid, pick up BS763472, LZ Max, negative Vietnamese Air Force was disapproved 2100hrs Vietnamese has gunshot wounds to side and arm broken. PSDF went out on an ambush at grid BS769474 and got ambushed by VC at that grid Dust Off called at 2225hrs, completed at 2253hrs. At 2250hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspected bunkers 3, 4, 5 and 6 all satisfactory. At 2340hrs Saber 40 is on station in box 61, negative findings now entering NH box 63, broke station at 0030hrs with negative findings. At 2342hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 9, Bravo 4, and Delta 1 for a total of 14 out. Legend: 1st Platoon 58, 2nd Platoon 16, 3rd Platoon 83, 4th Platoon 42, CO-07.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company used Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0749hrs Alpha Company all element in their Patrol Base except 3rd Platoon they will move after resupply and Alpha Command Post with 1st and 4th Platoons at BS745386 with 2nd Platoon at BS713398. At 1345hrs Alpha Company Command Post element in their Patrol Base were given 15 M60 rounds, 3 M79 rounds and a 155 booster by 3 Coke kids age 8-9, the Command Post gave the kids 3 C Rations meals, ammo was Blown in Place at BS745396. At 1407hrs Alpha Company Command Post was given 1 RPG round by 2 Coke Kids age 8, given 2 bars of soap vicinity BS745386. At 1519hrs Alpha Company had 5 Coke Kids 8+10 bring them 2 M-79 rounds and 4 bouncing betties and where paid 5 C Ration meals. At 2028hrs Alpha Company all in Night Defense Position Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoons at BS752383, 3rd Platoon at BS744373, 2nd Platoon at BS728397 with 9 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company used Patrol Bases and multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0713hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon in their Patrol Base vicinity BS664508. At 1605hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS662498. At 1715hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon Patrol has closed vicinity BS715510. At 1914hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon taking a break 200 meters from their Night Defense Position spotted 5 VC a grid BS725510, the 3rd Platoon tried to call a Fire Mission but negative clearance because Dragon said they were friendly little people. At 2110hrs Bravo Company all elements in Night Defense Position 3rd Platoon at BS719508 and at 2110hrs Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoons at BS664505 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out. PFC Clarence Thornton was evac and attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1947hrs went under 100% Alert and at 2005hrs Alert ended satisfactory. At 0602hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection # 13, 9, 8, 7 and 6 were checked all OK. At 2250hrs LZ Liz Bunker line inspected, inspected bunker line rated satisfactory.
Delta Company

At 0638hrs Delta Company 1st and 2nd Platoon moving to Patrol Base at BS711450. At 0740hrs Delta Company 3rd and 4th Platoons with Command Post in their Patrol Base vicinity BS692473. Delta Company continued their multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation and at 1424hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon requested Dust Off for one US with diarrhea, temp, medic thinks possible malaria line # R8786, Bird 88 Completed at 1617hrs. At 2230hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon, Command Post and 4th Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS696473, Delta Company 2nd Platoon and 1st Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS664505.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20
