Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1105hrs 11th Light Infantry Brigade message to 1-20 Infantry Effective 1105hrs Delta 3-1 Infantry became OPCON to 1-20 Infantry. At 200hrs Charlie Company received report Bridge 402U received mortar fire, don’t know how many rounds or what time happen 2 ARVN WIA taken to Charlie Company location. Heavy action in the Area of Operation, at 1105hrs Alpha Company at BS771461 requests Dust Off for 2 Vietnam children with serious frag wounds from 4.2 rounds completed at 1116hrs. At 1140hrs 174 Aviation at BS769349 Command and Control Helicopter for 4-21 Infantry crashed mechanical, Dust Off completed at 1140hrs Extension damage to aircraft is secured by Company from 4-21 Infantry.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0945hrs AF requested clearance for defoliation on May 17, 1948 to BS2966 TOT 1645hrs. AF requested clearance to return fire under Americal FAC. At 1045hrs Bravo Company at BS916264 Mine Sweep Security was ambushed received small arms and M-79 fire from both sides of road 2 EM WIA (E) requested Gunships and returned fire. At 1100hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS915258 Mine sweep team found a blown culvert when a B-40 rocket hit a duster in turrent with 1 KIA and 3 WIAWIA returned fire and Dust Off to Charlie Brown received 150 to 20 rounds small arms and automatic weapons fire from east sides of the road. At 1200hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS919239 reports received small arms and automatic weapons fire from both sides of the road and returned fire with negative casualties. At 1945hrs LZ Bronco Base Defense spotted 10 persons at BS80003990 and 5 persons at BS80003990 and engaged each target 6 rounds 81mm mortar. At 2040hrs LZ Bronco Base Defense spotted 2-3 VC at BS79874039, at 2046hrs 3-4 VC at BS80264053 and at 2100hrs went to Grey Alert and 2114hrs spotted 5-6 VC at BS80434053 fired Artillery 105mm on all grids. At 2100hrs LZ Bronco Base Defense fired 105mm artillery on all grids. At 2115hrs LZ Bronco Defense reports D Sector received small arms fire, negative casualties or damage, fired artillery. At 2225hrs LZ Bronco Base Defense spotted a lot of movement at BS808408 and BS803405 firing on all targets that appear. SP4 Gary W. McCann was injured and was evac to the 23rd Medical Battalion at 1640hrs.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and conducts a Recon in Force to BS748419, BS731445 and BS725432.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company conducts a Company size Recon in Force with 3 tracks to BS777855, BS761376 in their Area of Operations. At 0225hrs Bravo Company at BS766371 heard voices southwest of position and call in artillery.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company conducts 1 Platoon Recon in Force to BS787443, to BS813424. Charlie Company continued their joint operation with 1 platoon of PF to secure Pacification Program in their Area of Operations. At 1235hrs at BS795440 Charlie Company engaged 1 VC evaded and results one VC KIA and at 1325hrs at BS790435 received small arms fire results in one WIA (E) SGT John F. Wrigley was evac to the 27th Surgical Hospital. At 2000hrs Charlie Company received report Bridge 402U received mortar fire, don’t know how many rounds or what time happen 2 ARVN WIA taken to Charlie Company location. At 2100hrs Charlie Company reports 1-20 Infantry rounds come close to Charlie Company Night Defense Position and ambush site. Charlie Company at BS788425 spotted 2 VC 100 meters northeast of perimeter and engaged with small arms fire, went into wood line. At 2205rhs Charlie Company at BS788425 spotted movement to the east and engaged with artillery.
Delta Company

Delta Company conducts Company size Recon in Force with 3 tracks to BS780365, BS793381, BS779392, and by 1615hrs Delta Company is at BS777376 and then moved into their Night Defense Position in the vicinity of BS777376.
Echo Company
May 15, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon conducted a Recon in Force to BS796326 and back to LZ Liz.
