Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0150hrs Night Hawk we are breaking station to refuel. At grid BS725425 we spotted one male evading who we engaged and killed. At grid BS730438 we spotted one male evading and engaged in one KIA and 1WIA we went into confirm the KIA 2 more evaded results in two additional KIA we had a total of 4 KIA, with no weapons. At 0328hrs Nighthawk is back on station. At 1-20 Infantry reports Radar at 1945hrs spotted 10 to 15 personnel moving southeast at BS733422 and engaged with 12 firecracker rounds of Artillery 105. At 1957hrs 8 to 10 personnel were spotted moving east at BS742440 and engaged with 6 HE of 4.2 Mortar and at 0200hrs 4-5 stationary personnel were spotted at BS740431 with Alpha Company notified. At 0235hrs Radar sighted 2 to 3 stationary personnel at BS714439 and engaged with 12 HE of Artillery 105 and at 0300hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS721446 with night Hawk informed with negative findings. At 0335hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS737464 notified MACV. At grid BS759435 the engineer found a small anti personnel mine, base 6" thick and 8" in diameter. It was found 100 years from the perimeter wire off to the side of the road. It was blown leaving a hole of 2’ by 2’ with no damage to the asphalt.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and will continue their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0630hrs Alpha Company the 36 element is moving out to check out last nights snake location at BS748442 in which the 36 element sprung their ambush on 5 to 6 personnel north of the snake location. At 1832hrs Alpha Company the 66 element is moving to BS770440 and the 67 element is moving to BS775444. At 1935hrs Alpha Company the 65 element is roving from BS761435 to BS764437, the 66 element is roving from BS764437 to BS771440 and the 67 element is roving from BS770400 to BS775444 and with the 14 element is moving to BS759454.
Bravo Company

At 0745hrs Bravo Company the 37 patrol is moving out to work with Engineers at BS797410. At 1552hrs the 65 element request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese female with gunshot wounds to the stomach was caused by a stray round from the RF/PF who were working with US. The Duct Off was cancelled because Vietnamese female died at grid BS783462. At 1725hrs Bravo Company requests an Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child with frag wounds to the head and arm. It is believed that the Vietnamese child received these wounds from the 62 element PF’s grid BS771461, completed 1739hrs. At 1932hrs Bravo Company the 17 element is moving out to secure the move at LZ Budda at BA786429. At 2134hrs Bravo Company reports the 14 element has 20 VC/NVA northeast of our location at BS795445 and calling in 81mm and 4.2mm on the enemy location and we will adjust fire. Bravo Company early picked up 3 VC males and turned over to MACV and had requested one tractor driver Dust Off with severe lacerations.
Charlie Company

At 1635hrs Charlie Company we are now leaving the Day Logger to Night Defense Position at BS760390 and are moving the 12 snake to BS748394 and the 15 snake to BS757385 from their Day snake locations. At 1905hrs the 32 snake will be with the 35 snake at BS733409, the 12 snake with the16 snake at BS783375. At 2125hrs Charlie Company the 64 and 62 elements spotted 6 to 7 (VC/NVA) with weapons, engaged and fire was returned and they evaded to the east, we return fired with HE and Illumination and checked the area with negative results.
Delta Company

At 0712hrs Delta Company we are moving out of our Night Defense Position to our Day Logger at BS794337, the 62 element is moving to BS790325 and were there at 1045hrs and the 32 element was at BS788325 at 0948hrs. At 0825hrs Delta Company the 62 element is holding their location so the 32 element can link up with them. We are just outside our preplanned Day Logger at BS794337. At 1042hrs Delta Company 12 found a tunnel complex at BS768535. It had a five-foot entrance and approximately 10-ft deep with branches one was 1000 meters long and 5 ft in diameter and west branch was 900 meters long and 5-ft diameter. The engineer with the 12 element found enough explosives to destroy complex at 1145hrs at 1100hrs Delta Company 62 element is moving to BS784319 and the 32 element is moving to BS7789320. At 1250hrs Delta 62 element is still sweeping through extremely rugged terrain and in process of moving back to Day Logger at BS794337. Delta Company is moving out Night Lager Position 62 to BS790325 and 32 at BS788325. At 1447hrs Delta Company 32 element request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with lacerations to the neck due to a bamboo thicket in which a tractor driver fell into at grid BS789417 completed at 1455hrs. At 1528hrs Delta Company 62 element request an urgent Dust Off for 1 US with severe heat exhaustion from grid BS791342, he is unconscious and suffering craps to the stomach completed at 1538hrs. At 1820hrs we are moving to our Night Defense Position at BS791343. At 1844hrs Delta Company we request an urgent Dust Off for 7 WHA with frag wounds from a 155-pressure type booby trap in addition we have 2 KHA and WHA Leonard, Winfrey, FO, line # 61p, 1275, 137F, 90C. at grid BS791343. At 2210hrs Delta Company we are at our Night Defense Position at BS763375 and 14 elements is at BS748394. At 2106hrs Delta Company the 12 element spotted movement, fired on it at grid BS769531, we sent out a small element to check it out with negative results. KHA SP4 LORING M. BAILEY JR AND SSGT ROBERT ABBOTT WOOD LISTED AS KHA. Purple Heart awarded to SP4 Kenneth J. Sabatin. Delta Company reports that SP4 Kenneth Jiles no Information, PFC Ronald C. Leonard B 23 Medical with FW to jaw, SP4 Jose Corcino B 23 Medical RE to right Toe, SP4 Kenneth S. Sabatin to B 23 Medical with FW tight leg and back., SP4 Lawrence Pennington evac to 91 evac with frag wound right neck, SP4 JOHN CHARLES FERN evac to 91 Evac LISTED AS KHA (See March 16) Multiple frag wounds to both legs, chest and abdomen, and SGT David W. Winfrey was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital surgical amputation right leg and major lower body. Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery reports 2LT David W. Novak evac to 91Evac with MFW to chest, right arm and right hand.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 2041hrs Recon Platoon reports the 34 element is at BS723448, the 19 element is at BS748446 and the 33 element is at BS744443. At 2235hrs Recon Platoon radar sighted 10 to 15 personnel at BS730448.
