Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0525hrs LZ Liz took 3 rounds of 82mm mortar on western side of hill, round fell short of perimeter with negative casualties or damage. At 1325hrs 1-20 Infantry was informed that Dogs will be at Bud Pad at 1500hrs and resupply will pick up. At 1650hrs Helix 39 is putting in Air Strike at BS855363, and at 1740hrs Helix 39 reports 1 dud 500 pound bomb at grid BS815450. At 1735hrs Plans Bravo Company 1 platoon at 0630hrs will set up blocking force vicinity BS768420 running north to south. RF 169 Company will sweep from Highway 1 west to the blocking force. At 2355hrs Intelligence Report a Naval advisor agent reports the NLF will launch a general ground attack on ARVN and American forces in I Corp zone DATE/TIME 122300hrs to 160200hrs, source is rated F-3. At 2400hrs Brigade reports all units report negative activities, except 3-1 Infantry they have VC/NVA in wire at Fire Support Base Hill 411 also movement inside perimeter.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0510hrs Rear to 1-20 Infantry: we have 1 VC/NVA with a few frag in his body that decided to give himself up. Also capture 1 AK-47 from him. At 0540hrs SI-25 picked up 2-3 personnel later change to 4-5 persons, will engaged with 6 rounds 4.2 VT and 8 rounds of Artillery 105mm fire. At 0547hrs Rear Reports So far we have 4 VC/NVA KIA, 1 CIA, 4 AK-47, many Chi Com grenades and possible 2 more KIA, have to check out the area. We have 2 US WIA with minor frag wounds. AT 0920hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS890270 1 US WIA hit mine pressure type coke can filled with explosive, Bust Off completed at 0930hrs by Command and Control Helicopter 19 Engineer. At 2140hrs E and F sectors of LZ Bronco bunker line went on gray alert, SI-5 picked up target approximate 400 meters out.
Alpha Company

At 0547hrs Alpha Company snake has closed and we are moving out at this time. The 83 element received a couple of sniper rounds with negative casualty report and we are sweeping the Ville at this time. At 0645hrs Alpha Company finished search of Ville, interpreter is questioning villagers, have not received further sniper fire. Out Day Logger position is at BS745456 and we are now at this location, we will have a total of 4 VCS to be picked up by the Command and Control Helicopter 1 male and 3 females ant the women are 17, 23 and 33 and are members of Woman’s Association, location BS745456. At 0817hrs we are searching the Ville near out Day Logger and so far we have found 1 NVA shirt, a nightlight for a mortar tube, and some medicine at vicinity BS745456. At 0930hrs the 83 patrol will check out grid 7446 (today) and our Night Defense Position in vicinity BS744470, with the 63 snake at BS743459. At 1445hrs main body closed with the 83 element at BS746462 and at 1445hrs vicinity BS738457 there is a hootch with approximately 5000 pounds of Rice. There is approximately 20 hootches in the area which contained rice (informed by a woman) in the process of trying to get help through higher to extract it. At 1450hrs entire Alpha Company is moving at this time to our Night Defense Position and resupply site at BS737458. At 2013hrs Alpha Company will have one Listening Post 300 meters east, and in position at 2011hrs.
Bravo Company
July 15, 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0520hrs LZ Liz took 3 incoming mortar rounds, landed outside wire around the area of Bunker 8. No one observed any muzzle lash. At Bravo Company 0845hrs the 63 element is at training at BS7641 and BS7642 and by 0935hrs the 63 element has returned to LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

At 0810hrs Charlie Company we are at BS843375 about 700 meters to our east, there are about 20 dinks in light green uniforms and some have weapons. They never shot at us, but we think they are trying to set us up for something. We are calling in Artillery grid is BS843375, at 0842hrs Charlie Company we have found an M-16, serial (859746), 2 freshly dug Punji pits, and 2 (pressure detonate) booby traps blown in place and 1 KIA who is wearing tan pants and green shirt. He had a pistol belt and 2 M26 frag grenades at grid BS843374. At 1000hrs HHC to Pacer forward the M16 (859746) that Charlie Company found belongs to HHC 1/20, it was taken off the motor pool bunker line during sapper attack on June 23. At 1943hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position is located at BS862374 with snakes 16 at BS859371, and 65 element at BS858377, both snakes in position at 2112hrs.
Delta Company

At 0816hrs Delta Company report at our Day Logger at BS801476. The 83 element is making a Recon in Force to BS802475 and return to Day Logger. Also the 14 element also makes a short Recon in Force and moved into Night Defense Position at 2023hrs with snakes in position.
Echo Company
July 16, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon is located at LZ Liz. Charlie Company found a M-16 rifle the weapon was on bunker line at LZ Bronco, 1-20 Infantry Motor Pool on 23 June, Bronco was hit by sappers that night. At 1740hrs Recon we are now leaving LZ Liz at this time. At 1938hrs Recon reports their Day logger is at BS729448 with snakes at BS730448.
