Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0242hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity BS712608, no friendly elements involved, unknown enemy. 2 VC started Kien Khoung refugee camp on fire, negative friendly or enemy casualties, US confirmed. At 0338hrs Saber 44 is on station to work Box 69. At 0400hrs Saber 44 vicinity BS663561 reported sighting of possible supplies in a tree line. Had stakes driven around in the form of an arrow, looked like it might, have been covered by a poncho liner. Saber 44 engaged target and appeared to be a float metal object. Recon will check area at 1st Light. At 0805hrs Primo 6 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 0900hrs 26 Engineer vicinity BS768444, 6 Vietnamese children ages 8 to 12 years, 1 6" in diameter mine with 3 prongs approximately 2" long, believe to be M-2 mine, negative Lot #, Children said they found it 100 meters off the Access Road. Paid them 6 cans of C Rations and destroyed them in place. At 0925hrs Helix 34 is on station and working for Bravo Company. At 0945hrs Helix 34 is breaking station, at BS691577 sight a raft structure, 2 poles across, 5’ by 4’. Was on the south side of river on a bank and not concealed. At 1000hrs Duc My Village vicinity BS780470 the Assistant Village Chief of Duc My Village was killed. The National Police are investigating at this time F-1 rating. At 1100hrs S-5 Battalion reports Medics and Med Cap commencing and completed at 1140hrs. At 2000hrs Saber Black is on station for Box 69 and at 2020hrs broke station for Box 69. At 2054hrs PF 161 at OP Pax claim to have seen 2 VC at a distance and directed unknown and received some small arms fire. PF closed on OP Pax at this time. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 42-47, 3rd Platoon 92-97, 4th Platoon 52-57, CO-01.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0843hrs Alpha Company and the 26th Engineer linked up and ready to move out for BS772532. At 0900hrs 26th Engineer vicinity BS768444, 6 Vietnamese children ages 8-12, 1 6’ diameter mine with 3 prongs approximately 2" long, believe to be M-2 mine, negative Lot Number. Children said they found it 100 meters off the access road, and they were paid 6 cans of C Rations and the mine was then destroyed in place. At 1320hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon closed on OP Frag.
Bravo Company
February 15, 1971
At 0710hrs Bravo Company ambushes closed, 1st Platoon is at BS659533, 2nd Platoon is at BS647526 and 3rd Platoon at BS669546. At 1005hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to BS671528, 2nd Platoon to BS641527 and 3rd Platoon to BS676530. At 1635hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS667533 found 3 tunnels, 10’ long, 2 to 3’ underground, destroyed. At 1700hrs Bravo Company vicinity BS663530 requested an Urgent Dust Off for 2 US with Multiple Frag Wounds from booby trap it was an M-26 hand frag with trip wire across a trail, (CPT Davidson and LT Mackintosh) completed at 1710hrs. At 1725hrs Bravo Company Command Post vicinity BS663530 while searching the area for tunnels the Command Post element found an old Chi Com grenade with trip wire laid across a trail, it was blown in place. At 1927hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon is at BS665531, 1st Platoon ambush at BS669533, 2nd Platoon is at BS658528, BS674544 and 3rd Platoon is at BS676543. Bravo Company reports the following 1LT Roger W. Mackintosh and CPT James D. Davidson where evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company
February 15, 1971
At 0915hrs Charlie Company reports 2nd Platoon patrols at BS682584, BS680578. At 1145hrs Charlie Company RF 425 elements vicinity BS669568 while on patrol had 1 personnel detonate a dud M-79 round was not a booby trap, Dust Off was completed at 1140hrs. At 1330hrs Charlie Company and RF 118 Company request Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF who hit a booby trap, hand frag with trip wire, has multiple frag wounds to hands and legs. Booby trap was located across a rice paddy dike, Dust Off completed at 1340hrs. At 1535hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon reports at 2330hrs 6 Vietnamese will go to BS688507 and at 0530hrs 1st Platoon and Vietnamese will set up a blocking force. At 1803hrs Charlie Company vicinity BS704555, while moving to night location 3rd Platoon found 1 can of Petna with trip wire on a railroad berm, it was destroyed in place and Charlie Company 3rd Platoon ambush is moving to BS705555. At 1830hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon ambushed moving to BS681561 and at 2005hrs Charlie Company vicinity BS707540, report Vietnamese ambush sprung it self, trip flare went off and received a few rounds of small arms fire.
Delta Company

At 0826hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon moving to their Patrol Base at BS704400. At 0858hrs Delta Company vicinity BS707403, 3rd Platoon found a booby trap it was a baseball type grenade with trip wire across the trail. It was about 3-4 weeks old and was blown in place. At 0951hrs Delta Company Delta Company 2nd Platoon to BS724390 and at 1017hrs the 2nd Platoon closed on their location, and at 1044hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out to BS705397. At 1207hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed at BS703394. At 1730hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon is in the vicinity of BS727398 found 1 4.2 round with no markings and was not a booby trap, found in middle of field and was 5-6 weeks old and was destroyed in place. At 1733hrs Delta Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon changed location to BS703398. At 1948hrs Delta Company Command Post in their Night Defense Position at BS703398 with 2nd Platoon at BS722394 and BS727393 with the 1st and 4th Platoon is at OP Frag at BS757574.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0733hrs Recon is moving out for BS663561 to check Saber 44 sighting. At 0930hrs Recon checked area where Saber Black engaged suspected enemy location and found 4 foxholes and string tied to stakes believe that it was a Night Logger for 6 to 8 personnel.
