Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0718hs 1-20 Infantry conducts Visual Recon along highway indicates a culvert has been blown at BS793408. At 0820hrs MACV Duc Pho reports there is a roadblock at BS795404 and also suspect mines. At 0827hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer found roadblock of rocks holes in road, 4.2 Mortar round, cleared in road and blew in place. At 0830hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer reports Mine Sweep team pass over mine at BS750505 5 ton dump following sweep hit mine believed have been a 105mm round mine was placed in center of roadway. EM laundry mark is N9893 in critical condition, Dust Off to Duc Pho and vehicle is removed form road. At 0925hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC E Troop 1 APC #30 at 0805hrs at BS934224 request a Dust Off for 5 Vietnamese, 3 females litter and 2 ambulatory, Dust Off completed at 0840hrs. Women were from a village in vicinity of BS915238 and said they were wounded by M-79 round. But the E Troop personnel said it looks more like 81 or 60mm mortar, frag wounds. At 1120hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer mine sweep north found culvert 1144 blown, culvert and head walls were blown, began filling culvert and continue mine sweep. At 1540hrs 174 Aviation at BS885295 received 200 rounds of automatic weapons fire with negative casualties. At 2245hrs Information LZ Chevy, Lt Meyers reports 6 rounds incoming mortar thought to be 60mm fired counter mortars.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1340hrs Delta Company 19th Engineer reports EM from 63 Transportation the element from Duc Pho heading north was ambush between bridge 97 and bridge 98. Received a wound in his right arm from small arms fire, which came from the east side of road, had received about 15-20 rounds. The EM had continued to LZ Thunder, wound wasn’t serious negative damage to vehicle. At 1505hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports 4-3 Infantry has jeep moving south on highway received approximately 100 rounds of automatic weapons fire at BS917255 and the jeep took 6 hits, with negative casualties.
Alpha Company

At 0818hrs Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with locations reported Alpha 87 and Command Post at LZ Liz with Alpha 60 at BS713376, and Alpha 67 is at BS758428. At 1843hrs Alpha Company reports locations A 87, A 67 and Command Post at LZ Liz and A 69 at BS765427, A 70 at A BS742442 and A 71 at BS741421.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon and at 0031hrs Bravo Company at BS728521 engaged man running across rice paddy with small arms fire and it is believed he is hit will check the area at first Light. At 1858hrs Bravo Company reports their location at LZ Dragon and continued their Security Mission.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder, LZ Charlie Brown and Bridges 94 and 111, as they are preparing for their role in Operation CHAMPAIGN CROVE.
Delta Company
September 14, 1968
Delta Company is located at LZ Bronco and preparing for Operation CHAMPAING GROVE. Americal Division on going Major Operation in Mountains around Special Forces Camp at HA THANH, Mission to protect Quang Ngai City.
Echo Company
September 14, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry) Battalion. Recon Platoon reports their location at LZ Bronco, as they become ready to begin their Operations. SGT Richard B. Raphiel was evac to 6th Support Battalion at 1530hrs and then too 6th Convalescent center.
