Headquarters and Headquarter Company
October 14, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. At 0200hrs LZ Dottie received 7 Mortar rounds around communication bunker with results 2 US WHA (E) to 312 Surgical Hospital. At 0213hrs LZ Dottie at BS 630855 the 39 Engineer reports they received 2 Mortar rounds with results 1 WHA (E).

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1125hrs Major Powell, Major Pearey, LNO to the 2 ARVN request that a element of 1-20 Infantry perform a blocking force Mission along the north side of the TRA THC River from BS52 North-South line to the BS 57 North-South Line to support ARVN Task Force moving west out of Quang Ngai to exploit ARC Lights. 1-20 Infantry has a company in that area and can perform this task, the Operation begins at 1230hrs. Message passed to Major Mc Knight S-3 11 Brigade at 1145hrs, Area of Operation extension on the south TRA KHUC River east at BS5770 on the west BS8276 effective on DATE/TIME 141230hrs to 161230hrs October 1968. ARVN advisor call sign Amuse Pick AXE on 48.7 approved by Major Medbery.

 

Alpha Company
October 14, 1968

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie with roving patrolling in their Area of Operation.

 

Bravo Company
October 14, 1968

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Buff but has a element moving to BS841768 into a Blocking force position.

 

Charlie Company
October 14, 1968

At 1054hrs Charlie Company at BS544821 set up blocking force. At 1502hrs at BS548466 Charlie Company engaged 4 VCS evading and he dropped equipment CIA: M-1 Carbine SR8307124, medical supplies, web gear, and documents. The Command and Control helicopter picked up the 3 VCS and they were evac to LZ Dottie.

 

Delta Company
October 14, 1968

Delta Company at 1305hrs at BS554768 hit booby trap (105 rounds and unknown firing device) 4 US 4WHA, 1 US KHA dusted off by Command & Command Chopper to Chu Lai. At 1340hrs received 7-8 rounds of sniper fire from BS572205 returned fire with negative casualties or results. 1-20 Infantry reports locations Alpha Company at Dottie, Bravo Company Buff, Charlie Company Night Defense Position BS531765, Delta Company Night Defense Position BS548766 Recon LZ Dottie. Delta Company reports Sgt. TERRY LYNN TIMMS LISTED AS KIA. PFC HILTON EDWARD WOOLSEY (Died from wounds received October 27, 1968), PFC Williams Thornton (FRIAR 1756hrs), SSGT Timothy W. Coleman (SMITE 1756hrs) where evac to 27th Surgical Hospital.

 

Echo Company
October 14, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon continued to have a Security Mission on LZ Dottie.
