Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0707hrs Delta Company our present location is at BS706403 and Alpha Company was informed. At 0706hrs the Pink Team found 1 campfire which had been recently used at BS703442. The sharks are working over the area. At 0752hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer we request a routine Dust Off for 1 engineer, Easterbrook, who was operating a D7 at BS754596 when it hit a booby trapped 155mm or 8" round. He had small frag wounds to the face with no equipment damage, the hole was 6’ wide and 3’ deep and Dust Off completed at 0814hrs. At 0815hrs 26 Engineer mine sweep team we got a strong reading during the mine sweep at BS778445, 225 meters from the Red Ball. A small amount of C4 was placed in the area and 1 secondary explosion resulted. All of the device was below the ground and was on the south side of the access road. At 1120hrs 1-20 Infantry we requested an Area of Operation extension, B 46 the Date/ time 182400hrs (an extension on a previous extension and was approved, another Area of Operation extension on Date/Time 152400 to 182400hrs and from BS700480 to BS690430 to BS690420 to 728520 and south along the railroad berm to BS734500. The purpose for combat operations for Charlie Company and it was disapproved by the 4 Regiment. At 1555hrs Delta Company 92 is moving to the Charlie Company 26 Engineer Day Logger position. At 1721hrs Charlie Company 26 engineer the total hours worked was 32 clearing 24 acres in the area BS758596, BS755597, BS759590 to BS754492 (200 X 500). With 1 booby trap was detonated causing 1 WIA, 300 gallons of fuel were used with 4 D7 operational with 1 D7 deadline with a blown off track and 2 CEV are operational. At 1810hrs TMF at 1810hrs String 73 was activated by 6 personnel are moving southeast to southwest with metal detected at BS776372 Alpha Company informed. At 2235hrs the TMF String 72 activated by 4 personnel moving east to west at 1 mile per hour with no metal detected and shot at 2234hrs with 5 HE rounds 4.2 Mortar. Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports Delta 26 Engine SP5 Robert Easterbrook treated and released at B 23 Medical for frag wound to face. Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports SP4 Blanchard Olivis Echo Company 26 Engineer was treated at Battalion Aid for broken big toe right foot.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
June 14, 1970

At 0742hrs Alpha Company 93 and the Charlie Company 26 Engineers are moving to BS747595. At 1655hrs Alpha Company moving to their Night Defense Position at BS757385 will have multiple snakes out tonight.

 

Bravo Company
June 14, 1970

At 0150hrs Bravo Company the 93 element received 2 incoming rounds at BS778445. One round was a dud mortar round which hit on the Red Ball and did not exploded and the other believed to be a RPG round which hit 200 meters to their North and exploded. We have negative casualties and negative results.

 

Charlie Company
June 14, 1970

At 1220hrs Charlie Company air movement of troops from BS679511 to LZ at BS693487 at 1225hrs and LZ was cold. At 1830hrs Charlie Company is moving to our Night Defense Position vicinity BS702487. At 1945hrs Charlie Company 97 element stay behind is in their old Defense Line and had a trip flare go off. The area was checked with negative finding and it is believed to have been the wind. At 2015hrs Charlie Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS702487.

 

Delta Company
June 14, 1970

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1920hrs Delta Company reports the access road security is out.

 

Echo Company
June 14, 1970

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire 1 for a total expended of 10 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordinate responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon will continue their Security Mission for the Battalion.
