Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0820hrs S-4 Dolphin 958 is on station for re supply. At 0844hrs 26 Engineers reports Access road is open at this time. At 0901hrs Primo 4 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 1016hrs Primo 4 is breaking station (1 Hour). At 1042hrs S-4 reports purchased the following form 2 Vietnamese children at LZ Dragon, 1 Chi Com grenade, 2 M-79 HE rounds, and paid 150 Piasters, and destroyed. At 1146hrs 103 RF Company while sweeping east spotted and engaged 5 VC vicinity BS783497 with result they had 2 VC KIA, 1 female and 1 male with 1 carbine CIA was Confirmed by US personnel, no serial number from carbine. At 1405hrs S-4 Dolphin 458 is on station for re supply. At 1555hrs S-4 re supply completed and Dolphin broke station. At 1640hrs Primo 6 is breaking station at this time. At 1715hrs Dolphin 6 vicinity BS752388 sighted and reported a .51 caliber position and a tunnel. All freshly dug, this is believed to be an old Night Defense Position occupied by Charlie Company 1-20 Infantry on 26 to 30 December. At 2008hrs South OP sighted 5-7 personnel at the base of their hill vicinity BS745425. They were in a hedgerow and moving across a rice paddy, engaged with M-60 and 4.2 Mortar and after the fire mission, south OP saw negative movement. Legend: 1st Platoon 71-76, 2nd Platoon 91-96, 3rd Platoon 41-46, 4th Platoon 01-06, CO-30.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company again is using saturation patrolling and some Day Ambush, in their Area of Operation. At 0755hrs Alpha Company Command Post with 3rd and 4th Platoons in Patrol Base vicinity BS705440, 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS715415. At 0815hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base vicinity BS715415, 1st platoon in Patrol Base Vicinity BS726399. At 0830hrs Alpha Company Command Post with 3rd and 4th Platoons in Patrol Base at BS704398. At 1035hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving out for BS733396 and 3rd Platoon Day Ambush vicinity BS682391. At 1035hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS733396 and 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS709411. At 1250hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol closed at BS726399 and 2nd Platoon patrol closed at BS715415. At 1715hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS697423, 1st Platoon is moving for BS724390 and Command Post with 3rd and 4th Platoon is at BS694394. At 1948hrs Alpha Company Command Post with 3rd and 4th Platoons in their Night Defense Position and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Platoons have multiple ambushes tonight.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. Bravo Company continued their multiple patrols in their Area of Operation during the day. At 1126hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed at BS644521 and 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS650528. At 1436hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed vicinity BS649521, 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out from BS634526 and 3rd Platoon is moving to BS642522.
Charlie Company

At 0513hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon is moving out for BS709558. At 0719hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon ambush closed on BS699562, 1st Platoon ambush closed on BS693538, 2nd Platoon and closed on BS673572. At 0950hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon while on a combine operation with a RF Platoon vicinity BS709558, spotted a male with a white shirt crawling into a nearby hamlet. They immediately swept into the area and found a white shirt that was warm from being worn but found no males or tunnels in the village. Shortly afterward a female evaded to the south out of the same hamlet and was apprehended. She had no ID was questioned by the Phoung Houng team with the patrol and by the PF. She was suspected of being VC and back hauled to Mo Duc through MACV channels. At 1825hrs Charlie Company at OP Pax 1st Platoon bought 2 81mm, 2M-79 HE, 1 HE Artillery 105 and the 10 year old was paid 5 meals of C-Rations and destroyed in place. At 2000hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon ambush in location at BS699562, Command Post, 3rd and 4th Platoon is at BS699562, 1st Platoon is at BS693538 and 2nd Platoon is at BS673572.
Delta Company

At 0655hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon closed OP Frag and at 0825hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon on patrol vicinity BS747563 spotted 2 VC/NVA at a distance of 100 to 150 meters to the south of their location. They engaged with small arm fire, resulting in 2 KIA and 2 Chi Com grenades Captured. 1 KIA was wearing black age 19 male, the other wearing all green male 21 years of age, also 3 small books and 1 empty wallet. At 1105hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS723452 and 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS704438. At 1155hrs Delta Company VIP program 2nd Platoon purchased 2 Chi Com grenades from 10 Vietnamese children vicinity of BS722449. They paid 2 meals C-rations and destroyed in place. Kit Carson Scout is questioning children as to possible other ordnance. Delta Company continued to patrol the Area of Operation. At 1450hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol checkpoint 2 vicinity BS723452 and 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 vicinity BS764481. At 2030hrs Delta Company reports their locations Command Post and 3rd Platoon BS712436, 1st and 4th Platoon OP Frag, 1st Platoon ambush BS754564, 2nd Platoon in location vicinity BS731452.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. Echo Company reports that SGT James R. Helton from leave to 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division.
