Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0300hrs 11 Brigade Hill 411 at 0200hrs to 0300hrs received 4 rounds of suspected 60mm mortar fire with only 2 rounds hit inside the perimeter, with no damage or casualties. At 0805hrs 1-20 Infantry we need a total number of complete claymores that each company has, this includes blasting cap, firing device, and testing device. At 1010hrs 11th Brigade reports the 3 and 4 ARVN Battalion will replace the 2 and 4 ARVN Battalion today in vicinity of BS793380 and tomorrow the 3 and 4 ARVN Battalion will be Combat Assaulted south of LZ Debbie. At that the time the 4thr ARVN Regiment Area of Operation south of our Area of Operation will become part of the 1-20 Infantry, Area of Operation. At 1020hrs Alpha Company has 102 complete claymore, Bravo Company have 25 claymores, Charlie Company has 20 claymores, Delta Company has 48 claymores and 1 testing device per element and the Recon Platoon has 10 completed claymores. At 1115hrs 1-20th tomorrow you will have 1 platoon on the low ground in the vicinity of grid BS7245. Your mission will be to provide security for a sensor installment. At 1400hrs 1-20 Infantry the Brigade Commander has arrived at LZ Liz, was briefed by the Battalion Commander and the S-3 and left at 1415hrs. At 1615hrs 1-20 Infantry the Command and Control Helicopter has 1 female with a finger shot off by an M60 machinegun was dusted off, Command and Control Helicopter mad the Dust Off from grid BS813435. At 2015hrs LZ Liz IOS we have spotted 1 stationary light at grid BS803448, we fired 8 105 artillery HE from LZ Bronco and the light went out. At 2040hrs LZ Liz Radar sighted 15 to 25 personnel that where moving northwest at grid BS7834965, negative clearance due to close proximity of Recon Platoon. At 2055hrs Radar sighted 4 to 6 personnel moving north at grid BS778493, we engaged with artillery and at 2140hrs Radar sighted 8 to 10 personnel moving north at grid BS780502, negative clearance due to the close proximity of Recon Platoon. At 2155hrs Radar sighted 6 to 8 personnel moving to the northwest at grid BS774486, we engaged with artillery. At 2220hrs Radar sighted 6 to 8 personnel moving to the northwest at grid BS774485 and we engaged with artillery.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0700hrs Alpha Company 07 has closed on LZ Liz. At 0805hrs Alpha Company all snakes and the 06 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 1908hrs the 46 element is in location at grid BS773443. At 1925hrs Alpha Company the 27 snake is at BS768438 and at 1940hrs Alpha Company the 47 element is at BS765443, the 06 element is at BS764434, the 27 element is at BS768438 and the 46 element is at BS773443.
Bravo Company

At 0715hrs Bravo Company 47 element has closed on BS783433 and the 46 is moving out on their patrol BS763435. At 0810hrs Bravo Company the 46 element is a checkpoint 1 at BS763435 and at 0910hrs 46 is at checkpoint 3 at BS768421. At 1000hrs Bravo Company Urgent Dust Off, Requested for one Vietnamese child with a gun shot wound of the arm and back. The Vietnamese was with gunshot wound of the arm and back. The Vietnamese was with some cattle and the US where testing weapons and boy was hit, completed at 1010hrs grid BS787424. At 1030hrs Bravo Company 46 is closed on BS783433. At 1300hrs Bravo Company the 07 element along with the National Police will be moving and sweeping to grid BS750458. At 1323hrs Bravo Company 06 snake will be a grid BS783420, the PF snake will be at BS792410. At 0500hrs the 05 patrol will be sweeping in BS776438, BS776430, BS763432, and BS763434. The Rangers will be moving to grids BS759450, BS754482, and BS761437 at 1000hrs tomorrow Bravo Company 44 and 07 elements will be moving to BS750455. At 1455hrs Bravo Company grid BS751497 we found a tunnel which was 1 1/2 feet X 1 1/2 feet X 3 feet deep and about 45 feet long, which we destroyed. At 1905hrs Bravo Company the Vietnamese will have a snake with the US with the call sign of 26. At 1920hrs Bravo Company 48 element is moving to BS788472, the 25 element is moving to BS783420, the 26 element is moving to BS792410 and the 06 snake is moving to BS772455. At 2000hrs Bravo Company the 26 is at BS792410, 06 at BS772455 and the Bravo 25 element snake at BS783448. At 2330hrs Bravo Company 66 patrol for tomorrow will be in grids BS783433, BS779437, BS777430 and BS781430.
Charlie Company

At 0716hrs Charlie Company the 07 and 27 elements have closed on BS778402. At 0917hrs Charlie Company 04 and 24 elements are moving out. At 1438hrs Charlie Company 04 element closed on BS778402, at 1930hrs the 08 element is at BS774413 and the 28 element is at BS786408. At 1835hrs Charlie Company the 08 is moving to BS774413 and the 28 element is moving to BS786404. At 1930hrs Charlie Company the 08 element is at BS774413 and the 28 element is at BS786404.
Delta Company

At 0713hrs Delta Company all snakes have closed on BS723425. At 0725hrs the 21, 64 and 24 elements have moved out of their Night Defense Position. At 1055hrs Delta Company the patrol base for the 64 element 24 sub element and the 21 element is at grid BS735415. The patrols are being run to the southeast and to the west of this grid. At 1215hrs Delta Company the 21 and 64 elements are at BS735415 and the 04 and 44 elements are at BS728427. At 1520hrs Delta Company we have three Vietnamese detainees, 2 men and one woman. The woman said she was a member of the Woman’s Association, but the Kit Carson Scout believes she is a tax collector, she is very intelligent. The man, one of them, is suspected of being Framer’s Association leader. The other man has a picture of him in Saigon at a training camp they were picked up at 1441hrs at grid BS741421. At 1550hrs Delta Company the 24 element found a tunnel at grid BS735413. It was entrance 4 ½‘in diameter and 36" to 40" high, it was 50’ long. There was nothing inside and some mackerel cans on the outside. We are destroying the tunnel. At 1800hrs Delta Company the 74, 24 and 21 elements are moving to the Night Defense Position at BS733408. At 1912hrs Delta Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS738414. At 1950hrs Delta Company the 25 element is at BS738423, the 04 and 44 elements are at BS728426, the 05 element is at BS729430 and the 45 element is at BS734436.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0632hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 3, Unobserved Mission 9 for a total of 23 HE, 20 WP and 1 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1220hrs Recon we just received 2 incoming sniper rounds from a carbine. We spotted 2 VC/NVA to the north, 1 element is in pursuit of the suspects, negative casualties and negative result at grid BS789493. At 1445hrs Recon our present location is at BS784502 and the Night Defense Position is at BS787497. At 1847hrs Recon at grid BS780509 we spotted 3 VC/NVA and are calling in artillery on them. At 1945hrs Recon we have closed on our Night Defense Position at BS787497.
