Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs 26 Engineer Mine Sweep of Access Road has begun. At 0755hrs Primo 6 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 0755hrs Duc Pho Highway 1 vicinity BS794408, an explosion resulting from a pressure release type mine occurred on Highway 1. Results 1 Vietnamese Desoto truck was destroyed with 2 tons of rice destroyed and miscellaneous private property. Unknown report on civilians casualties, the road remains passable Crater 8’ deep in diameter and 4 ½ to 5’ deep with no damage to culvert. At 0930hrs 26 Engineers report Access Road is open. At 2200hrs South OP, with starlight scope observed 3 to 5 personnel vicinity BS749427, engaged with 81mm HE after which they had a negative target. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 42-47, 3rd Platoon 92-97, 4th Platoon 52-57, CO-01.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1320hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon closed on OP Frag.
Bravo Company
February 14, 1971
Bravo Company at 0707hrs Bravo Company ambushes closed, 1st Platoon is at BS662526, 2nd Platoon at BS652524 and 3rd Platoon is at BS670549. At 0815hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon 3rd Platoon moved into Patrol Base at BS672553 and at 0910hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon patrol moving to BS661521 and 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS649525. At 1130hrs 2nd Platoon Patrol is moving out for BS645526 and 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS679553. At 1145hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving out for BS679553. At 1847hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon closed on BS651523 and 1st Platoon is at BS663528 and 3rd Platoon patrol have closed on BS672553.
Charlie Company

At 0816hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon ambush closed on BS699562. At 0825hrs 1st Platoon ambush closed on BS693538 and 2nd Platoon closed at BS673573. At 1245hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is at OP Pax, VIP Program reports 8-10 Vietnamese children bring tem 1 M-79 round, 1 105 round WP, and 1 M-26 Hand Frag. There ages was 8+14 and paid them 2 meals C Rations and destroyed the rounds. At 1730hrs Charlie Company vicinity BS672561 while on patrol found 1 box of 81mm mortar rounds, apparently dropped from hook (Lot # KN2212 HE), 2 weeks old. At 1735hrs Charlie Company vicinity BS669573, 2nd Platoon on patrol found 2 tunnels with entrance 3" X 4" extending 12’ to 15’ in length and 6’ to 8’ underground, also 1 underground 10’ X 8’ bunker and 7’ high. It appears to not be used in over 1 week and all tunnels and bunkers were destroyed in place. At 1931hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon ambushes vicinity BS704560, Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon at BS662535, 1st Platoon ambush is at BS659533, 2nd Platoon is at BS648527 and BS647526, with the 3rd Platoon at BS672541 and BS669546. At 2210hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon report small arms fire vicinity BS682583, requested and received permission to engage with 81mm fire. SP4 Alan D. Sterchi was attached to 91st Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

At 0750hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon is moving out for BS701397. At 0835hrs Delta Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon are in their Patrol Base at BS700395. At 0837hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon patrol checking area at BS699396 and at 0905hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon in their Patrol Base vicinity BS725400. At 1300hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon moving to BS714383. At 1745hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS755574, requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF with bullet wounds to the head, received in a contact at BS738574. Dust Off helicopter reports while it was leaving the LZ received 1M-79 round from the south negative damage or casualties and Dust Off completed at 1750hrs. UPDATE REPORT RF 937 while on patrol made contact with unknown size VC/NVA element received small arms fire and M-79 rounds with result 1 RF WIA with bullet wounds to the head. Delta Company 1st Platoon was working with RF 937 at the time. 1935hrs Delta Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon location is at BS703397 and 2nd Platoon in location at BS727395.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1005hrs Recon Patrol is in vicinity BS663562 with their night location vicinity BS667563. At 1915hrs Recon reports they are moving into their Night Defense Position at BS667563.
