Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0155hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar at 1927hrs report spotted 8 to 10 personnel moving northeast at BS804423 we response with 15 HE Artillery 105mm and at 2010hrs Radar spotted 4-5 stationary personnel at BS794451 and engaged with 15 HE Artillery 155mm. At 2343hrs Radar spotted 7-9 personnel stationary at BS803408 and engaged with 18 HE Artillery 105mm and at 0035hrs spotted 8 to 10 stationary personnel at BS796454 engaged with 10 HE Artillery 8". At 0446hrs Radar target 3 to 5 stationary personnel at BS763422 and engaged with 9 HE 4.2 Mortar rounds. At 0645hrs Dolphin 6 on station tail 225, Battalion Commanding Officer left LZ Liz went on Combat Assault at 0653hrs returned to LZ Liz at 0724hrs reported 1st LZ was hot. At 2040hrs Radar PPS-5 sighting 5-6 personnel moving northeast BS763458, negative clearance.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0827hrs S-4 LZ Bronco bad lot of multiple shot rockets 60mm lot # NC1-11-8 check and report.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0855hrs Alpha Company requested a Routine Dust Off for 1 US with fractured foot, name Rodgers complete at 0900hrs. At 0910hrs Alpha 36 check out BS783385 with negative results. At 1040hrs Alpha Company all snakes have closed on LZ Liz. At 2010hrs Alpha Company all access road patrols are in location 35 to BS767437, 48 from BS767437 to BS773440, 75 from BS773440 to BS778442 and 76 is moving to BS745443.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to work with the PF Units and Security of the Pacification Program. At 0538hrs Bravo Company 72 is moving out at this time to grid BS789449 and at 0540hrs Bravo 42 is moving out at this time to grid BS794445 and the 43 element is moving to BS794445. At 0624hrs Bravo Company 72 is now in location at BS789449 and at 0631hrs the 42 is in location BS794445 to take up their blocking position. At 0707hrs Bravo Company reports Combat Assault of the 28 and 32 elements from BS783433 and BS789413 to BS791449 1st PZ 0700hrs and last LZ 0707hrs hot. At 0751hrs Bravo Company request an urgent Dust Off for 3 US with multiple frag wounds of the body. They hit a booby trap frag with a trip wire, Perry, Covin, McKee completed at 0808hrs. At 0945hrs all elements closed 42 at BS783443, Ranger at BS783433, 32 and 28 at BS789417 and 72 at BS771461. At 1001hrs Bravo Company late report 35 element at grid BS789438 found of AK-47 and some documents. At 1010hrs Bravo Company 47 is at grid BS789438 will remain there until 1800hrs. At 1500hrs Bravo Company 45 snake at BS787439, 76 at BS768458, Ranger BS777430, the 35 snake at BS783420 all will move out at 1900hrs. Tomorrow the 75 patrol BS783443 at 1000hrs 35 patrol check points 1 at BS800482, 2 at BS814423 at 1600hrs, 32 patrol checkpoint 1 BS800412, 2 at BS818414 at 0600hrs, 44 patrol checkpoint 1 at BS790437, 2 at BS779443 at 1600hrs the 47 patrol checkpoint 1 at BS80431, 1 at BS812434 at 1600hrs. At 2020hrs Bravo Company will use multiple might ambushes tonight. (I believe the 3 WHA where Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery 2LT Donald H. Perry 27 Surgical Hospital treat and release frag wound left thigh and left eye and PFC Robert J. Corvich 27 Surgical Hospital frag wound left shoulder, right arm and abdomen and left thigh. At 0015hrs Charlie Company 34 element spotted 9 personnel to their south about 400-500 meters and putting artillery on suspected enemy location with unknown results. At 0825hrs Charlie Company we are moving out at this time 36 element is checking out grid BS783385. At 0920hrs Charlie Company our present locations 72, 12 and Command Post at BS777416, 32 is at BS780397 and 42 at BS789405. At 1204hrs Charlie Company at grid BS795416 72 element reported someone shot a M-79 round at their point element negative casualties they sweep through are picked up 1 male about 50 years old, with ID, released on female about 50-55 years old negative ID. The 72 element saw one young male and female evading from the area. At 1340hrs Charlie Company reports their present location at BS816425, we also pick up 1 male Vietnamese detainee about 13 years old wearing blue shirt and shorts, negative ID, and 32 is at BS818402. At 1800hrs Charlie Company changes in location 42 at BS809443, 45 at BS815438, 32 at BS816430, 34 at BS819424, 36 at BS818453 and Command Post at BS821425. At 1905hrs Charlie Company moves into their Night Defense Position with multiple ambushes. At 2120hrs Charlie Company 34 element spotted movement with starlight scope, 3 personnel across the river, engaged with artillery, will check out area at first light. At Charlie 34 has moved 150 meters to the southwest.
Delta Company

At 0800hrs Delta Company the one VC that the PF got last night at 1840hrs has been identified by PF and RF as a hamlet guerrilla from Hep An Village at grid BS757463. At 0816hrs Delta Company informed to search following grid squares with 1 platoon each BS7346-BS7347 and BS7447 search thoroughly, night ambush from 46 grid line to 50 grid line and generally east of 72 grid line. At 1046hrs Delta Company elements is moving out to preplanned location and assignments. At 1313hrs Delta Company with the Village Chief of Pho Nghia lead us to two tunnels, one at BS741473 about 2’ in diameter and BS742473 about 18" in diameter and 8’ in length both tunnels were very well concealed. At 1345hrs Delta Company the 32 and 72 elements have closed on BS741472, 42 is closing at this time. At 1825hrs Delta Company RF and PF snakes 01 at BS749469, 02 at BS752464 and 03 at BS745460 and tomorrow the entire element will block from BS724497 to BS724480, the RF and PF will Recon in Force from the railroad west to the blocking force. At 1950hrs Delta Company Urgent Dust Off for four US with multiple frag wounds from a thrown hand frag Names: Pound has wounds of the lower abdomen, Frances has wounds of leg and chest, Phillips has frag to leg, Plante has frag to lower leg ETA 15 minutes completed 2005hrs. At 2051hrs Delta Company request Urgent Dust Off; one US with frag wound to the head, heavy bleeding received wounds when the 42 element heard movement 15 meters to their front fired M-79 on location and there was a secondary explosion; US received wound: Dust Off completed 2114hrs. The Dust Off is for one US with frag wound to head and heavy bleeding received wounds. At 2107hrs Delta Company all elements are in location, 42 at BS728467, 44 at BS726475, 43 at BS722470, 32 at BS725486 and 34 at BS734489 and also snake locations 72 at BS734486, 73 at BS740474, 74 at BS738467, 01 at BS749469, 02 at BS752464 and 03 at BS745460. At 2123hrs Delta Company 72 found a booby trap, 2 pieces of bamboo with strip of metal wrapped in plastic bag, with battery, explosive is thought to be C-4; booby trap was disarmed at grid BS733473. At 2130hrs Delta Company 74 spotted one personnel with starlight scope 150 meters to their southeast; engaged with M-79; checked area negative results will check further at first light. At 2235hrs Delta Company 42 spotted one personnel with starlight scope with weapon, 150 meters to their north, moving west to east; engage with M-79, unknown finding, will check at first light. Delta Company reports the following SGT Charles D. Pounds, SP4 Roger Plante, PFC Leonard C. Francis and PFC Gary D. Phillips where evac to 91st Evac Hospital. 2LT Lawrence H. Burkhardt treated and release from B 23 Medical frag wound to chin, SP4 James H. W. Yeary treat and released in the field side of head.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0840hrs 4.2 Platoon Supporting fires 9 Observed Missions 2 for a total expended 31 HE, 10 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1730hs Recon Platoon is now moving out to their snake locations Robin Hood at BS746398, Will Scarlet BS749401 and Little John at BS746396. At 2037hrs Recon Platoon locations for tonight, Command Post element at BS743397, Little John element at BS741395 and Will Scarlet at BS749401. At 1038hrs Recon have 3 personnel under observation at BS745414, 2 persons dressed in black, 1 in white, suspects appear to be young in age, elements observing about 1500 meters from their location will inform.
