Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0025hrs Urgent Dust Off called for E7 Taylor with groin and abdomen pains believed to be gallstones. Dust Off 59 completed at 2030hrs, Dust Off called at 2057hrs on August 13.1971. At 0026hrs 2 US personnel from 6-11 Artillery in Dong Cat Hamlet buying ice backed up hitting 1 Vietnamese female. Did not realize this and left scene of the accident, PF stopped 2 ½ ton to tell them what they have done and the 2 ½ ton drove off. PF fired 4 M-16 rounds with 2 hits 2 ½ windshield negative casualties. PAPA Sierrra 80 will make a report in morning. At 0103hrs Nui Vong on 100% alert due to inadvertently firing of red star cluster by bunker # 3. Personnel thought it was a hand Illumination, 100% at 0105hrs and Alert was terminated at 0115hrs and judged satisfactory by Hill Officer in Charge. At 0505hrs Inferno Blue is on station in Boxes 53 and 56 expended on grids BS675419 in box 56 and BS746366 in box 53 with negative results and broke station at 0545hrs with negative results. At 0710hrs Resupply Bird is on station with Call sign 22. At 0815hrs LZ Liz Access Road is clear and open. At 1345hrs Primo 5 (11 Brigade Aviation) is on station and closed broke station at 1415hrs. At 1610hrs 4-4 Recon while on Search and Clear found some houses results, 3 VC KIA, CIA 1 AK 47, 700 kilos rice and destroyed 5 houses. At 1618hrs Blade Time Resupply 0700hrs to 1200hrs LOH 0930hrs to 1030hrs. At 1645hrs 4-4 ARVN Battalion while on a Search and Clear mission found a small base camp. Results 7 NVA KIA, CIA 1 .51 caliber machinegun, 9 tons ammo and destroyed 5 houses and 3 sampans at BS296504. At 1830hrs Access Road is closed. At 2015hrs 1-20 Infantry reports their Field Strength Alpha 50, Bravo 62, Delta 54, Echo 22, and HHC 9. At 2112hrs Need 2 names from 1-20 Infantry for sniper school, Personnel are Bebell, Michael P., SP4 and Brambie, Robert H, SP4 with Delta Company. At 2120hrs Inferno Black, (Bravo 23 Aviation) is on station for Nighthawk box 56 and broke station at 2152hrs with negative findings. At 2225hrs Nighthawk is checking perimeters LZ Liz at 2225hrs, Snoopy at 2234hrs and broke station at 2244hrs. At 2153hrs Brigade 29 has 2 scout dogs for 1-20 Infantry available anytime tomorrow at 198 Brigade resupply pad. Need to know (1.) Time can pick up and (2.) The company going to was canceled. At 2355hrs 4 ARVN has clearance Air Calvary 150500hrs to 152000hrs August 1971 BS5380 to BS5880 to BS5876, BS6076 to BS6070 to 5070 to 5076 to 7376 to start clear 4 ARVN (MINH). Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

At 0815hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon moving out to BS640517. At 0955hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon is moving closed on BS642515. At 1152hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon is at BS640514 and moving out and the 1st Platoon is at BS642515. At 1554hrs Alpha Company on move out at this time located at BS648520. At 1950hrs Alpha Company closed on their Night Defense Position at BS648520.
Bravo Company

At 0710hrs Bravo Company is on move to BS643504 and have move into their Patrol Base at BS645505. At 1535hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is at BS642502 and at 1933hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon with Command Post has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS644503.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0025hrs Urgent Dust Off called for E7 Taylor with groin and abdomen pains believed to be gallstones. Dust Off 59 completed at 2030hrs. 13.1971.
Delta Company
August 14, 1971
At 1140hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon and Command Post at checkpoint 1 at BS663496. At 1206hrs Delta Company made contact with unknown size enemy force from 400 meters to their southeast called in Artillery, saw one VC/NVA wearing green on green with web gear and a AK 47 evaded to the southeast. Artillery is still firing and now checking area at BS659495. Delta Company at 1554hrs is on the move at present at BS662491 and 1842hrs Delta Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS662491. At 2112hrs Need 2 names from 1-20 Infantry for sniper school, Personnel are Bebell, Michael P., SP4 and Brambie, Robert H, SP4 with Delta Company.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0648hrs Recon is in their Patrol Base at BS654503. At 1958hrs Recon is in their Night Defense Position at BS650505.
