Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. 11 Brigade reports rehearsal for (Golden Valley) which is reinforcement rehearsal with Alpha Company Infantry conducting a Combat Assault into a cold LZ at BS583325 completed at 0905hrs. Bravo Company conducted a Combat Assault into a cold LZ at BS583325 completed at 0752hrs and Bravo Battery 6-11 Artillery completed a air move into LZ vicinity at BS5583325 at 0855hrs. At 0845hrs Bravo Company 19th Engineer reports ¾ ton 1 HQ-220 and ¼ ton number 52-MI 18 these trucks ran through the mine sweep team heading north. At 1748hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request 1 swift boat to be off shore at BS880360 no later then 150900hrs August 1968. Contact will be Mint 65 on Command frequency. At 2000hrs Colonel Guinn requested bulldozer for use 150900hrs at LZ Thunder. Charlie Company has bulldozer available but no means to move it. Charlie Company 19th Engineer will move it as soon as road is open.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0420hrs Sector F bunker #54, guard personnel requested permission to pop a smoke grenade in bunker for purpose of mosquitoes from bunker interior. SGT of Guard granted permission, SP4 Carter 1 of the 4 guard personnel in bunker mistakenly selected a WP grenade which, he released inside rear of bunker 54. The results 1 injured SP4 Rooms, scattered WP burns on head, back and limbs evac to Chu Lai, condition good. SP4 Carrol several WP burns on back of legs, returned to duty and SP4 Carter WP burns on head and neck treated and returned to duty. SP4 Wise uninjured damage minor fire damage to bunker no damage to weapons.
Alpha Company

At 2345hrs Alpha Company at BS855354 ambush engaged 1 VC results, 1 VC KIA found pistol belt, 2 hand grenade, some M-1 ammo and found a Hand grenade with pin pulled will check further in morning. Alpha Company conducts a Combat Assault from BS845355 to BS575346, 1st PZ at 0819hrs and Last LZ at 0905hrs and LZ cold. At 1225hrs Alpha Company located is at BS540334. At 1745hrs Alpha Company in a Night Defense Position with ambushes at BS537318, BS538329, and BS533324 in Support of Special Forces Camp at BA TO.
Bravo Company

At 0800hrs Bravo Company Reference to Air move of Bravo Company from BS836285 to BS583325 of Bravo Company from BS826285 to BS583325 Fire Support Base 1st Lift TD 0823hrs and last lift TD 0852hrs LZ Cold. At 1815hrs Bravo Company is at BS583326.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1940hrs Charlie Company 10 at LZ Thunder and Command Post and 20 are at BS870340 with 30 at BS804339.
Delta Company
August 14, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 0754hrs Delta Company at BS926220 the swift boats found and blew a mine on the beach one Vietnamese had frag wounds in neck was Dust Off at 0810hrs. At 1815hrs Delta Company has a Night Defense Position at BS914259 and BS924260 with ambushes at BS864251, BS878270, BS892262 and the 10, Command Post at LZ Charlie Brown.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon reports their location at Special Forces Camp at Ha Thanh.
