Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0410hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar At 2030hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS712432 and engagement was not cleared due to the proximity of Charlie Company and at 2100hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS714411 and engaged with 18 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2150hrs 6 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS735475 and Charlie Company informed and at 2210hrs 5 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS732430 and Charlie Company was informed. At 2210hrs 5 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS732430 and Charlie Company was informed and at 2350hrs 5 to 10 personnel were sighted moving east at BS749465 and Charlie Company was informed. At 0020hrs 5 to 6 stationary personnel were sighted at BS741411 and Delta Company informed and at 0025hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS746446 with Charlie Company informed. At 0335 PPS-5 sighted 3 to 4 stationary personnel at BS742455 and engagement was not cleared due to the proximity of Delta Company. At 0655hrs 1-20 Infantry Charlie and Delta Companies locations were passed on to Bud Pad and S-4 Shop. The 11 Brigade Reference Bald Eagle General Haines, CINCUSARPAC and his itinerary, from 0730hrs to 0800hrs en route to Quang Ngai from Chu Lai, from 0800hrs to 0810hrs visit the Commanding General of 2 ARVN Division. At 0810hrs to 0840hrs G-2 and G-3 update from 2 ARVN Staff, 0820hrs to 0900hrs en route 2 ARVN Division to Support Battalion by Vehicle. At 0900hrs to 0930hrs visit with Support Battalion and 0930hrs depart Quang Ngai for LZ Bayonet. Our requirements are to provide the Battalion Liaison Officer who will follow General Haines by vehicle, which will be provided at Quang Ngai, Liaison Officer will be picked up and taken to Quang Ngai by Primo and returned by Primo. At 0909hrs Helix 39 we are putting in an Air Strike at BS750346. At 1335hrs Brigade Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery have moved 4 tubes to LZ Dragon. At 1405hrs Helix (FAC) is putting in an Air Strike at BS742297.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1920hrs Alpha Company the 04 moving to their roving patrol from BS760453 to BS765437, the 44 from BS765435 to BS770438, the 64 from BS770438 to BS776434 and the 65 to moving to BS755409.
Bravo Company

At 0845hrs Bravo Company 43 element has picked up one male detainee, 60 years old and dressed white shirt and black shorts with no ID at BS780447 and will be sent to MACV. At 1035hrs Bravo Company 06 element checked out the area of a rice cache with negative finding.
Charlie Company
April 14, 1970
At 0640hrs Charlie Company 05 element picked up 3 detainee one male and 2 female, while making a Cordon and Search of the Ville at BS739439. The 1 male was 30, no ID, dressed in black and hiding in an animal pen and turned over to MACV. At 0725hrs Charlie Company the 05a element found a bandoleer of ammo (M-16) hidden in a hedgerow at BS746436. At 0940hrs Charlie Company we found a rice cache of 1000 pounds in last night’s Night Defense Position, which was well concealed and found in an hooch. The floor was concrete over the rice cache. We also found another tunnel 4 X and 4’ long which was destroyed. In the same area as the rice we found another tunnel 2 X 3 by 6" long and at the end was a room 4’ X4’ with sleeping gear, a few cooking utensils and one hand frag (US). Request shaped chares to blew it. Charlie Company the 61 element is BS751448, the 43 element is at BS752474 where they found a bunker with a tunnel that led to another bunker. The 1st bunker was 6’ X 5’ and the tunnel was 2’ X 3’ and 18’ long. The second bunker we found canvas material and harness used to take rice to the mountains. The VC documents will be sent in and they stated that a VC has been in the bunker last night. The 61 element pick up 3 detainees, 1 male with altered ID, 65, one female altered ID and 60 years and one female 20 Years old and no ID and dressed in black pants and green shirt at grid BS751448. At 1030hrs we have 2500 pounds of rice to be bagged and extracted. At 1710hrs Charlie Company we request a routine Dust Off for 2 US with injuries to the ankle due to the helicopter (re supply) and the other with persistent chest pains line number 0621 and 024 completed at 1740hrs. At 1940hrs we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 VC at BS743438. The 04 element spotted 2 VC carrying rice engaged with small arms fire at 35 meters and wounded the VC as the 2nd VC evaded to the west, completed at 2000hrs. At 2025hrs Charlie Company has element with multiple roving patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2150hrs we have one trip flare go off and engaged with small arms fire and the 04 element called in Artillery 155mm Illumination and spotted 2 VC evading to the west and south. We chased them for 100 to 150 meters with negative finding. At 2310hrs Charlie Company Urgent Dust Off is requested for 1 VC female with frag wounds resulting from friendly M79 fire. The 01 element spotted movement and fired on it and it turned out to be a friendly inside a hootch completed at 2327hrs.
Delta Company

At 0857hrs Delta Company 63 the element found a tunnel at BS734407 25’ X 30’ meters long blew the tunnel. At 0915hrs Delta Company the 01 element will accept re supply at BS774412 and the 41 element is at BS764392. At 1105hrs the 41 element found one light green uniform in good condition and 4 bottles of Vitamin A at BS757408. At 1815hrs Delta Company requested routine Dust Off for one US who is suffering from extreme illness Grid BS766408.complaete at 1825hrs. At 1833hrs Delta Company O1 element requests an urgent dust Off for 2 US one has multiple frag wounds to the body and one with loss of hearing in the right ear, Burton is KHA, Reeder was the WHA Dust Off is complete at 1841hrs. The wounds were suffered as a result of an antipersonnel type pressure mine. 1940hrs request an urgent Dust Off for 1 US in shock and unconscious resulting from incident of the KHA from booby trap at BS781415. Jackson Dust Off completed 1950hrs. At 2020hrs Delta Company 01 and 03 elements is at BS776415 and 02 is at BS772411. PFC CARL LEON BURTON IS LISED AS KHA. Delta Company reports that SGT George W. Jackson III was evac to 23rd Medical for Severe Concussion from blast and Pvt Larry E. Reeder was treated at B 23 Medical for concussion and damage right ear. PFC CARL LEON BURTON was evac to GRP at Duc Pho.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 10 for a total expended of 8 HE and 13 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0928hrs Recon Platoon has closed on LZ Liz to take over their Security Mission.
