Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry request Area of Operation extension Date/Time/Grid 150600hrs to 302400hrs from BS7048 to 7053 to BS7153 to BS7251 to BS729510 southeast along railroad berm to BS744480 Purpose: Operation of E Troop, 1-1 Calvary. Approved but changed to read BS7048 to BS7053 to BS7153 to BS7150 to BS734500 to BS744480, not to be a free fire zone CPT Can. At 1355hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin #644 is on station. At 1400hrs 1-20 Infantry at 1415hrs 8" Artillery started firing at BS7455, fired 104 rounds, completed at 1625hrs and at 1435hrs the 83 element spotted 3 VC at BS748562, on north end of mangroves, did not engaged. At 1540hrs TMF S-75A is now located at BS78563802. At 1850hrs 1-20 Infantry request Area of Operation extension B 106 be extended same Date/Time/Grid BS6854 to BS6754 to BS670582 to BS980586, Purpose Operation of Alpha Company approved by Brigade. Legend: 1st Platoon 53-58, 2nd 23-28, 3rd Platoon 83-88, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 31.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1014hrs Alpha Company 53 element with VIP bought 2 60mm rounds, 1 105 round, and 1 US hand frag grenade, 1 claymore, paid 700 P’s total destroyed all rounds in place. At 1915hrs Alpha Company reports the 26 element at BS697555 and 83 at BS682574.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company at BS730600 found 31 pounds anti personnel mine filled with Petna and destroyed in place, pressure release type. At 1130hrs Bravo Company 57 element taking sniper fire from BS727627, from their southwest, 25 to 30 rounds, semi-automatic weapons fire we are now proceeding to check out the area with negative finding.
Charlie Company

At 0807hrs Charlie Company 56 ambush closed on BS725418, 55 Patrol is moving out for BS738398, 25 ambush closed on BS731453 and 27 is moving out for BS725461. At 0950hrs Charlie Company closed on BS725418. At 1200hrs Charlie Company found 7 60mm rounds same condition as the others will blow all rounds in place. At 1550hrs Charlie Company is moving out for BS726434. At 1940hrs Charlie Company 23 is at BS729453, and the 27 element moving out to BS728458. At 1945hrs Charlie Company 63, 83 and 31 elements moving to Night Defense Position at BS716434. At 2005hrs Charlie Company the 314 element in location at BS716434, the 53 element changed to BS727416 and the 87 element is moving out for BS710436.
Delta Company

At 1715hrs Delta Company reports the 25 element in location at BS759559, 23 in location at BS753574 and the 53 element in location at BS752574. At 0945hrs Delta Company 83 saw 2 VC with packs, at BS751555, evading east engaged with negative results. At 1150hrs Delta Company 26 were linking up with PF at BS742572, for joint operation. At 1150hrs Delta Company the 26 element linking up with the PF at BS742572. At 1255hrs Delta Company 85 requests Urgent Dust Off for #W116 with bullet wounds to chest, completed 1300hrs. Delta Company 85 sweeping back through BS759558 to check for possible civilians left in area, they spotted 2 VC fleeing to the south, they gave chase, and from approximately 30 meters, they received rounds from hedgerow, resulting in lead man receiving 2 wounds to the chest. Resulting in 1 US KIA, body picked up at 1305hrs CPL NICOLAS WHEELER is LISTED AS KHA. At 1435hrs Delta Company 83 element spotted 3 VC at BS748562, on north end of mangroves, did not engage. At 1925hrs Delta Company 63, 83, 31 elements are at Night Defense Position vicinity BS716434. At 2150hrs Delta Company 55 element at BS746575 snack up to a hooch we hear VC were smoking and joking, they got as close as 20-25 meters when they were sighted, they threw frag at VC and engaged with small arms fire with the Result 6 KIA, 2 CIA. The 6 KIA where 4 males between ages 25-30, the two females between 25-30 The 2 females CIA where 18-20, and 2 captured weapons 1 AK-47 and 1 SKS. At 2230hrs Delta Company 31 element observed 2 60mm rounds impact at BS746572, HE mission brought in on suspected enemy location at BS745568. At 2245hrs Delta Company explosion heard at grid contact BS746575, explosive was unknown origin. At 2330hrs Delta Company, Kit Carson Scout interrogated females detainees said the unit was 415, and the 2 females were from the 116 detachment. Delta Company reports CPL NICOLAS WHEELER IS LISED AS KHA was COD Gun Shot to chest.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0935hrs Recon Platoon 53 and 54 elements are at BS796381 ready to move out with TMF to perform their mission. At 1036hrs Recon 54 element is location at BS7837. At 1200hrs Recon 53 element completed mission back in starting location waiting for the 54 element to link up with them and returned to LZ Liz. At 1215hrs Recon Platoon 53 and 54 elements linked up at BS796381, and are proceeding to LZ Liz.
