Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0855hrs Charlie Battery and Charles Company checked on bunkers and all bunkers are OK at this time. At 1022hrs Delta Company to Chu Lai and Alpha Company to LZ Bronco. At 1105hrs LZ Liz living quarters Bunker on LZ Liz have been inspected. Helix 37 the Air Strike at BS718471 with 500 pound bomb and Napalm results 2 sustain fires. At 1510hrs Marines have 3 Schedule Landing for Marines at grid BS785535 at 0753hrs. 1st LCU craft landed on the beach. Equipment included 2 bulldozers 1 CEV, and Command Post equipment. At 0830hrs Command and Control Helicopter 1-20 Infantry at BS788387 detained 2 males (1 X 55 years old and 1 X 40 years old) and 1 Child, picked up by Command and Control Helicopter and took to LZ Bronco. At 1800hrs Battalion Message 1. Watch all water movement. Carry ropes, snap lynches, and identify of non-swimmers and weak swimmers. Don’t take chances. 2. 81 Illumination is in short supply. Call for 4.2 and Artillery Illumination if possible.3. From 11th Brigade, to Alpha Company If you have any visitors, notify what was discussed and us as soon as possible as to whom they were. At 2043hrs To Message to the Commanding Officer 1-20 Infantry from the Headquarters 11th Brigade, Subject inspection and repair of the perimeter tactical wire. 1 recent rain has caused severer erosion around the perimeters of many the Fire Base and reduced the effective of tactical wire. 3. Tactical commanders will take the following precautions to insure that tactical wire will be effective. A. During monsoons tactical wire will be inspected periodically to insure wire is effective. B. Insure that stakes in the ground are holding down the wire. C. in cases where tactical wire is buried in mud, the wire will be uncovered and relocated. D. Washouts will be filled with earth or additional tactical wire. 3. Assistance is accomplishing the a boy mentioned tasks that are beyond the tactical capability of the unit will be referred directly to support engineer company directly to the support Engineer company. Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. LZ Bronco Battalion Rear There was an inspection of the bunker line at and bunkers were satisfactory except bunker 43, which was in poor shape. PFC Thomas Kendle was attached to 91st Evac Hospital.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company has returned to their Area of Operations at 1300hrs message to Companies watch all water movements (carry ropes, snap lynches, and indemnify non-swimmers and weak swimmers). Don’t take chances. 2nd part of message the 81 illumination is on short supply call for 4.2 and Artillery illumination when possible. From Brigade to Alpha Company 3 part if you have any visitors, notify what was discussed and us as soon as possible as to whom they were.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company 25, Rangers and PRU Combat Assault 1st PZ 0810hrs and Last LZ 0824hrs. At 0830 Ranger had several VC/NVA evading at the LZ site. We took them under fire with negative results. At least 2 of VC/NVA had green uniforms on, (Sharks) Gun ships are on station and working the area over. At 1005hrs Bravo Company at BS784402 my Ranger element got 1 VC KIA age 18-25 with no ID, he was wearing black and was evading and hiding in a hedgerow. At 1015hrs Urgent Dust Off requested we have one Vietnamese female with a serious leg wound from friendly fire and she is bleeding badly, shot by PRU Dust Off completed at 1025hrs. At 1130hrs Bravo Company Ranger and the 25 element closed on the Southern Bridge and PRU went back to Duc Pho. At 1610hrs Bravo Company 55 element found a body at BS789417 in the wire by Bridge and probably about 6 hours old. At 1745hrs Bravo Company at the North Bridge just received some M-79 and M 30 incoming rounds from the tree line, and calling in Artillery.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Delta Company
October 13, 1969
At 0700hrs Delta Company is air lifted from LZ Bronco to Chu Lai completed at 1015hrs to start their 3 day Stand Down.
Echo Company
October 13, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0546hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observe Mission 1 with total expend 1 HE and 5 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense and Operations. At 0721hrs Recon Platoon conducts a Combat Assault to BS785535. At 1715hrs Recon Platoon Lifts of Recon is now completed and Recon is now on LZ Liz.
