Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade. At 0826hrs Alpha Company 4-21 at AT999349 while checking area received small arms fire with results 1 US WIA (M). At 1126hrs Alpha Company 4-21 Infantry OPCON to 1-20 Infantry at AT997358 reports that 1 US stepped on booby trapped small arms round, It went off between his big toe and the one next to it, Dust Off call at 1130hrs and completed at 1140, results 1 US WIA. At 1410hrs Convoy departed LZ Baldy for LZ Ross and at 1415hrs the convoy reports lead vehicle (MP Jeep) hit a pressure detonated mine with results 3 KHA at BT0823390. At 1600hrs Alpha Company 4-21 Infantry at AT992356 hit a booby trap with 4 men WHA and Evac.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1438hrs Alpha and Bravo Companies report receiving mortar fire at BT056227. At 0842hrs Alpha Company check area at AT949349 with negative results on first search. On second search received 25 rounds of automatic weapons fire with results 1 WIA (M) 1 man slightly grazed on neck. At 1505hrs Alpha Company at BT053229 has one man wounded with mortar fire and died as results of the wounds. PFC BURL DENTON HEWITT LISTED AS KHA.
Bravo Company

At 1255hrs Bravo Company at BT051229 reports 1 WHA, 2 heat casualty Dust-Off called for these individuals, the dust-off ship took 1 50 cal round and landed at LZ Center. Kansas 6 Dust-Off was attempting to evac 1 WHA gunshot wound. Dust-off was competed for the 2-heat casualty. Dust off complete at 1340hrs. Alpha and Bravo Companies report to received mortar fire at BT056227 with results 1 WHA Bravo Company. At 1438hrs Alpha and Bravo Companies report received mortar fire at BT056227. Bravo Company has 1 WHA. At 1447hrs Bravo Company at BT052227 reports 2 WHA (E) from mortar fire, reports CPL STEPHAN CODRINGTON LISTED AS KHA. 1LT Paul R. Arndt and SGT Walter S. Johnson where attached to NSA DA Nang.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. As they remain in position if need to move in support 1-6 Infantry in their operations
Delta Company

Delta Company has the Security mission for LZ Ross with patrolling being conducted in their Area of Operation. . At 1415hrs The convoy departing Baldy for LZ Ross, lead vehicle (MP Jeep) hit a pressure detonated mine, results 3 KHA at BT823390.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon and at 1857hrs Recon Platoon at AT993384 reports observing 2 VC fired mortars, with results 1 VC KIA.
