Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry is located at LZ Liz and continued their Mission and working with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0450hrs LZ Liz received 3 rounds of 82mm mortar rounds all landed outside wire with negative casualties or damage between Liz and south OP, enemy grid BS737428 engaged with 4.2 mortars and 81mm mortar fire. At 0455hrs LZ Liz report that they fired 4 rounds firecracker type and one was a dud at BS739420. At 0800hrs Info for 1-20 Infantry, Helicopter Defoliation Mission Requested Clearance for 16 July, 1,000 meters west of highway 1 from EW grid to EW 15 grid line, return fire for fire, have Freq of all units in that area. At 1220hrs MACV reports at 1200hrs a villager from Phud Trang vicinity grid BS894293 states one NVA Platoon wearing gray uniforms and carrying AK 47 at that location at this time. At 1457hrs Helix 03 putting in Air Strike at grid BS824432 and at 1545hrs Helix 03 putting in 2nd Air Strike at BS824432.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 2030hrs Intelligence report Agent report on 101500hrs an element of C-1 Company of unknown strength, Co Tram Thi, were operating near Hung Nhan vicinity BS735724, were dress in ARVN fatigues with 1 57mm recoilless rifle, 2 M-79, and individual weapons. Mission: 3 of above enemy are operating in Pho Tho vicinity BS733732 in order to ambush a Recon Team, casual source, F/3. At 2255hrs Bravo Company on LZ Liz received several rounds of small arms fire on southeast side with negative casualties or damage. Bravo return fire with M-60 and M-16 fire and firing stop.
Alpha Company
July 13, 1969
Alpha Company except the 63 element is moving out at this times 0315hrs. At 0610hrs Alpha Company is starting sweep as planned, at 0635hrs one (female) VCS, her husband was VC (dead) and we will turn her in for further questioning, found some spider holes we will be blowing at grid BS766451, At 0725hrs our present location and Day Logger is BS766452, the 63 element moving toward our location, and closed at 0926hrs. Moving to new Day Logger at BS762447 closed at 1335hrs. At 1725hrs Alpha Company moving at this time, to our Night Defense Position location BS753449 and closed into position at 2000hrs. Our 83 snake will be BS741449, still moving and closed into position at 2045hrs.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company
July 13, 1969
Charlie Company at 0713hrs is now moving to Day Logger Position at BS822392. At 1005hrs our 83 element will be going on their Recon in force in about 5 minutes to BS822392. At 1555hrs Charlie Company Request a Dust Off for 1 US with 103degree temp, possible malaria, Dust Off completed at 1612hrs, Man name FOX. At 1716hrs Charlie Company is headed to their Night Defense Position at BS833374, with a 64 snake at BS838374.
Delta Company

At 0700hrs Delta Combat Assault into grids BS782474, BS779774, BS779478. 1st Pick Zone 0640hrs landing Zone 0645hrs, cold- 2nd Pick Up zone 0648hrs, LZ 0700hrs cold. At 0740hrs Delta Company reports one KIA, political VC Cadre, with pack and 9mm pistol (SN11929). He evaded north and was taken under fire and wounded by the Command and Control Helicopter, as elements approached he fired and they returned fire, killing him will put pack, etc on Command and Control helicopter also had many documents. Grid is BS784475. At 0825hrs Delta reports have 4 VC, 2 KIA and 2 seriously wounded, found them in a bunker along with Chi Com grenades and 1 30 cal M-1 carbine (US) Serial number is (1347388). They had no ID, wouldn’t come out of bunker and were engaged with frag grenade, grid is BS784475. The two wounded where Dust Off at 0915hrs, also found thousand pounds of rice to bag up, also 200 ducks which we will scatter. At 1330hrs reports Military Intelligence will be taking in three VC suspects, and releasing two of them. At 1945hrs Delta Company we are in out Night Defense Position BS753449. Our 83 snake will be BS741450 and they moving now 64 and 65 snakes moving now at 2042hrs all snakes in position.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0450hrs LZ Liz received 3 rounds of 82mm mortar rounds all landed outside wire with negative casualties or damage between Liz and south OP, enemy grid BS737428 engaged with 4.2 mortars and 81mm mortar fire. At 0455hrs LZ Liz report that they fired 4 rounds firecracker type and one was a dud at BS739420. At 0600hrs Recon Platoon we are moving out of our snake location and making sweep as planned and at 0630hrs Recon closed on LZ Liz.
