Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0230hrs IOS we saw 1 light at grid BS699389 and we fired 8 105 HE rounds. At 0325hrs North OP Radar has spotted 3 to 4 personnel at grid BS748447 and we fired at 12 4.2 mortar HE at the target. At 0615hrs IOS we spotted 1 light in the mountains at grid BS699389 we fired 8 HE of 105 artillery rounds on the target. 11 Brigade we request clearance for air strikes in grids BS8143, BS5144, BS5044 and BS8440 until 1100hrs. At 0920hrs 1-20 Infantry the proposed fishing village, vicinity grid BS822463, BS828453, BS817447 and BS812456 has been discontinued. Information received from the District Chief, Duc Pho. At 0935hrs Warlord late report at 0810hrs this morning Warlord picked up 10 Vietnamese detainees at grid BS790505 to BS810475. At 0956hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Commander left LZ Liz for Charlie and Delta Companies. At 1346hrs Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz, was briefed by the Battalion Commander and S-3, left at 1545hrs. At 1520hrs General Mildren and General Ramsey arrived at LZ Liz and was briefed by the Battalion Commander and Brigade Commander and staff left at 1540hrs. At 1520hrs Warlord lead we are checking out the area of BS746399, IOS target of 3 VC/NVA with weapons, we requested gun ships to check it out. At 1816hrs 1-20 Infantry to Brigade IOS sighting at BS74514015 has 6 people with packs and weapons. At 2015hrs IOS there is a number of lights at grid BS713399, negative clearance by 4-3 Infantry. At 2220hrs IOS we have a stationary light at grid BS807443 and we expended 6 HE 105 artillery. At 2240hrs we have a number of lights at BS774456 and we have negative clearance due to friendly.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Alpha Company snakes closed back on LZ Liz. At 0710hrs Alpha Company the 28, 46, 05 and closed on LZ Liz. At 1910hrs Alpha Company reports the 07 snake is moving to BS765443, the 06 snake is moving to BS764434, the 27 snake is moving to BS768438 and the 46 snake is moving to BS773443.
Bravo Company

At 0604hrs Bravo Company the 07 element has closed on BS771461 and the 25 element is at BS787424. At 0722hrs Bravo Company we have 2 ships for the Combat Assault of the 21 element Combat Assault to BS783487. At 0745hrs Bravo Company 24 is moving to BS779419. At 0755hrs Bravo Company we have 5 Vietnamese detainees pick up at grid BS775500. They are being held at Liz. One male detainee was shot by a stray round and Dust Off by Command and Control Helicopter at 0800hrs. At 0840hrs Bravo Company we have 1 Vietnamese he is from the 83rd Main Force. He came from the mountains in July, he is wearing black pajamas, 27, no ID. At 0820 Bravo Company at grid BS770501 the sharks got one male KIA, age 30, with no ID card, he was wearing black pajamas and had a screwdriver on him. At 0840hrs Bravo Company picked up 1 female detainee, 20-25 years old, who was evading at grid BS795475. She was wearing a blue shirt and black pants and she was brought to Liz. At 0936hrs Bravo Company at grid BS783487 we have 1 VC, age 26, negative ID and wearing black pajamas. He said he is a member of the 83 VC Main Force at grid BS655508. The CO of the VC Company is Nguyen Dien, 36 years old. There also is a tunnel complex which containing 30 VC. At 0955hrs Bravo Company at gird BS784465 we picked up 1 Vietnamese detainee, male, 18 years old. He had no ID and was wearing a white T-shirt, and blue pants. He was carrying a blue uniform. At 1154hrs the gorilla element got 3 VC/NVA KIA. These VC were evading in sampans, 1 wearing a blue shirt and black shorts. I was wearing a blue shirt and black shorts, the 25 with no ID. The other 2 wearing all black ages 20 to 25 and one 45 years old, no ID and no weapons found at grid BS775500. At 1240hrs Bravo Company at grid BS775500 the Ranger have 5 Vietnamese detainees and one VC Chief and one confirmed Guerilla. Three are draft dodgers, and they will be turn over to the ARVN channels. At 1750hrs Bravo Company at grid BS777401 there is a sub-element of VC with weapons. When the US come into they area they evade to BS784396. At 1800hrs Bravo Company Routine requested a Dust Off, for 1 Vietnamese male civilian, approximately 30 years old with frag wounds to the head. He received these wounds from a dud M-79 round, grid BS783433 completed at 1811hrs. At 2010hrs Bravo Company the 07 SRRP has closed on its snake location of BS784444. At 2035hrs Bravo Company requested Urgent Dust Off requested for one Vietnamese who suffering from a severe cut on the toe, the medic can not stop the bleeding. Bravo Company reports completed at 2045hrs Grid BS783433, the child was working for Bravo Company was chopping ice for them.
Charlie Company

At 1114hrs Charlie Company our present location is at BS802373. At 1615hrs Charlie Company we are moving to BS802373. At 1815hrs Charlie Company the 27 snake is at BS785404 and the 07 snake is at BS781406. At 1911hrs Charlie Company the 27 snake is moving to BS785404 and 07 is moving to BS781406. At 2040hrs Charlie Company their Night Defense Position is at BS778402 with 27 snake at BS785404 and 07 at BS781406.
Delta Company

At 0947hrs Delta Company we are moving to BS7143, BS7243, BS7142 and BS7242. At 1120hrs Kit Carson Scout spotted 3 VC/NVA at grid BS706420, we are calling in artillery on this location and our present location is BS711413. At 1345hrs Delta Company at Day Logger at BS723425, we had day ambushes at 05 BS724430, 45 BS729431 and 44 BS728426. At 1801hrs Delta Company the 25 snake has been cancelled. At 1935hrs Delta Company the 05 snake is at BS724430 and the 45 snake is at BS729431. At 2045hrs Delta Company the 44 and 04 elements are at grid BS728426.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0900hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 21 and Observed Mission 2 with a total expended 69 HE, 2 WP and 6 C/S rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0936hrs Recon at grid BS795482 we picked up 2 female detainees, dressed in blue shirts and black pants, age 25 to 33 years. They had no ID cards, they are ready for pick up. At 1245hrs Recon Platoon we found some clothing and some papers at grid BS795482. We also have 5 freshly built bunkers, some ID cards and a barrel and stock group of a carbine at the same grid. Other items included 1 blasting cap, 10 VC names, 3 photos (1 of a Vietnamese Female detainee, 1 of a VC with a weapon and grenades) 3 photo negatives and 1 ID card. At 1325hrs Recon our Night Defense Position is at BS789493 and tomorrow we will work in the same area. At 1600hrs Recon we picked up 1 VC at grid BS795482. The VC is approximately 20 years old and is wearing black pajamas. He had some papers one of which, is an award from his Commanding Officer for killing ARVN. We also found an 81mm mortar round and blew it in place. The VC had a list of names of the people in the Duc Pho area that pay taxes to the VC. At 1615hrs Recon all elements are at BS795482. At 1926hrs Recon we are in our Night Defense Position at BS789493.
