Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1745hrs Military Police reports claymore detonated on western end of LZ Living End, vicinity BS850368. No trip wires, seems to be command detonated, need assistance to check to see if mines have been turned around. At 1900hrs Military Police report claymore to have command detonated shot small steel balls. There was a 2 ½ ton truck, which was hit in the front, burst both of the front tires, radiator, and wind shields. Mine was placed on top of bream 100 meters inside the perimeter SSGT Holland HHC 1-20 Infantry was Dust Off and two others injured. At 1805hrs Brigade to 1-20 Infantry move 1 Company by motor to LZ OD as soon as mine sweep of highway 1 south of OD has been completed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1110hrs 3 Support reports convoy received approximately 7 rounds and 2 men spotted appeared to have weapons, moving east. At 2200hrs E Troop 1 Calvary spotted individual moving toward the perimeter vicinity BS859374. Open fire with M-79 and Machinegun results is unknown.
Alpha Company
January 13, 1968
Alpha Company location at 0910hrs is at vicinity BS857288. Alpha Company extracted to LZ Thunder from BS857288 completed 1458hrs. Alpha Company took the Security Mission of LZ Thunder. At 1535hrs Alpha Company at 855317 Hoi Chan leads the 2nd Platoon to a house into the woods and 1 person escaped. Results of search of the house was 100 pounds of salt, was being divided into small amounts further search revealed trap door and under trap door was 900 or 1000lbs of rice, 50lbs of sugar and pictures. House, rice, sugar and salt destroyed. Alpha Company also took a civil suspect and he was evac by Military Intelligence. At 1939hrs late report Alpha Company at BS848283 found a tunnel complex negative find in search destroyed as much of it as they could, had limited amount of TNT with them, time of action 1140hrs.
Bravo Company

At 0910hrs Bravo Company location is BS742383 and continued their Search and Destroy mission in the Area of Operation and to continue to support any units in the area.
Charlie Company
January 13, 1968
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and bridges in their Area of Operation with one platoon conducting Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operations.
Delta Company

At 0910hrs Delta Company is location BS803310 and continued their Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation.
Echo Company
January 13, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 0212hrs CPT Hicks the Battalion S-2 reports that the 4.2 Mortar Platoon had sank Sam Pan vicinity BS898287. There was no secondary explosion. At 0212hrs the 4.2 Platoon fired 6 rounds of illumination for Alpha Company at BS780360. At 0650hrs Recon at LZ OD through the VIP program received 1 booby-trapped claymore, several 105mm duds, requests EOD mission landed on LZ OD. At 1440hrs Recon Platoon at BS892313 detained 2 VCS, 1 wearing green uniforms, admits being VC PVT wearing black PJ with negative weapons. At 1620hrs Recon at BS89313, element was searching tunnels. Shot and wounded one VC as he was evading and Dust Off completed.
