Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1030hrs to 1-20 Infantry there will be a Commanding Officer conference in the conference room at DATE/TIME 151400hrs February 1969. General Clements will be in attendance Battalion Commanders attend at their decision according to tactical obligations. At 1545hrs Quang Ngai Report at DATE/TIME 122100hrs February 1969, Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry received small arms fire from vicinity refugee camp near Duc Pho. Bravo Company returned fire resulting in 1 90 year old civilian KIA, 1 PF WIA and 1 hut destroyed. Bravo Company utilized small arms fire and M-79 fire. Friendly units at refugee camp were Popular Self Defense Forces and a RF Company 937. Duc Pho is investigating matter, Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry received fire several times vicinity of the refugee camp. At 1700hrs CPT Newkirk from MAJ Erickson and MAJ Garcia Duc Pho senior adviser said PF Company was ordered in Sa Huynh ASAP morning of 12 February 1969 arrived about 0700hrs. Also flowing information for US locations on night of 11, Delta 44 at BS928240 Bridge 95, Delta 43 is at 921211 Bridge 94, Delta 53 at BS761332 and SRRP Gale at BS873293. At 1755hrs LRRP Montana reports their location at BS714445. At 1835hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry OPCON to 1-20 Infantry reports night locations 51 at BS765990, 53 at BS756930, 41 at BS816400, 26 at BS777414, 21 at BS773404, 22 at BS800373 and 46 at BS832974 with SRRP Calvin BS793360 and Gale at BS865296. At 1835hrs Gale has moved to a new location BS874257. At 1835hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at BS783396 received heavy automatic fire while moving to ambush 3 US casualties with 1 Urgent Dust Off, sharks is on station, Dust Off Completed at 1840hrs contact is now light 2 KHA and 1 WHA. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry reports PFC RUBEN ANGULANO AND PFC DAVID ALLEN LISTED AS KIA with SGT Donald F. Davidson WIA was evac.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
February 13, 1969
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. Alpha Company conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ 0730hrs to LZ 0736hrs to grid BS685531 and 2nd LZ 0744hrs to BS690531 completed. At 0855hrs Alpha Company at BS685535 51 engaged one VC dressed in black with results 1 VC KIA with 1 SKS CIA. At 0950hrs the Command and Control helicopter inserted an element, Condon set up on bunker complex, searching area at this time. At 1035hrs Alpha Company at BS685535 found Bar # 874571. At 1035hrs 1-20 Infantry Dog Tag at BS905245 spotted AK 47 fire at red ball calling 81mm at this time with unknown finding. At 1155hrs Alpha Company at BS685534 dug one confirmed VC pulled out of hole, had gunshot wounds in area and legs Dust Off to 6th Support. At 1155hrs SRRP Aster has a Priority Dust Off for 1 US with swollen glands and trouble breathing completed at 1230hrs. Alpha Company closed on LZ Dragon
Bravo Company
February 13. 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the 51 element at bridge 124. Command and Control helicopter, spot area around haystack and asked Bravo Company to check out area found haystack and burned. Bravo Company detained 2 VCS males, one with no ID had work pass for LZ Bronco and 1 had a Buddhist ID, and had pack marks on back and shoulders. At 1520hrs at Bridge 124 grid BS771461 I US WHA with stomach wounds, (Camras) US PFC, Dust Off completed at 1517hrs to 6th Support would look like bullet hole from far range, heard negative fire, man just suddenly fell. At 1550hrs Bravo Company at BS724438 about 200 meters south searched small village, found first aid bandages and material to build explosives continuing to search area. At 1725hrs Bravo Company at BS832441 had one VC evading with the result 1 VC KIA and had no ID.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1610hrs Charlie Company 41 is at BS887301 and at 1835hrs 24 is at BS883322. At 2000hrs Change of plans for Charlie Company 1st Platoon (-) with 2 APC will Recon in Force to BS847308 at 1300hrs.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and provided security for Bridges at 95 and 94. At 0055hrs Delta Company at BS926220 reports at 2050hrs on February 12, 1969 Charlie Brown received 20-25 rounds from southern end of Village of Sa Huynh and returned fire results 1 Vietnamese female 19 years old KIA, 1 self defense male wounded slightly. Information only 1-20 Infantry will conduct investigation. Bunker #2, #3, #4 and Command Post Bunker along with Bridge 94 received fire approximately 200 rounds small arms fire (estimate AK-47 automatic) fire originated from huts and boats. Returned fire toward muzzle flashes with 400 rounds M-16, 200 rounds M-6m Machinegun, 20 rounds M-79 with 81 Illumination and HE rounds vicinity 911550. 1-20 Infantry is attempting to pursue inquiry through Duc Pho (MACV). At 1305hrs Delta Company at BS794418 detained 2 VC suspects evading. At 1030hrs at BS902207 requests Dust Off for possible broken ribs, Dust Off completed at 1045hrs to 6th Support. At 1040hrs Dog Tag at BS905245 spotted AK47 fire at red ball calling in 81mm at this time. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry Charlie Brown, Colonel Chapman (Battalion Commander) was seating in the Mess Hall and received 1 sniper round negative casualties. At 1440hrs Delta Company at BS921211 1 VCS taken to bridge 94, VCS appears to be 18, had 4 ID none looked good. At 1630hrs Delta Company reports their SRRP Dog Tag is located at LZ Charlie Brown, with 44 on Bridge 95 and 45 on Bridge 94. At 2000hrs Delta Company at Charlie Brown received 3 rounds of small arms fire coming from hill behind SA Huynh, negative casualties or damage.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
