Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0300hrs 1-20 Infantry reports at BS858318 observed 2 VC planting mine, engaged killing 1 VC, the other VC blew the mine and escaped, road partly blocked.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0315hrs LZ Bronco reports Bunker 01 & 02 received sniper fire from grid BS820370, returning fire with negative results.
Alpha Company
February 13, 1968
At 0105hrs Alpha Company ambush made contact vicinity BS803545, results 2 US WHA (minor) results on enemy unknown at this time. At 0900hrs 1-20 Infantry requested Alpha Company be extraction on 14 February. At 1015hrs Alpha Company is located at BS765345 and at 1815hrs Alpha Company Alpha Company located a 155 dud, will blew in place. At 2010hrs Alpha Company headquarter section is at BS775340, 10 at BS784342, 20 BS774344, and 30 at BS775340.
Bravo Company
February 13, 1968
At 0802hrs Bravo Company OP on Tripoli reports a lot of people are between beach and Carentan. At 1015hrs Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and security for bridges 99, 100 and 104, 105. At 0759hrs at BS894268 found 1 boy age 15 with gunshot wound in leg, Dust Off is called and he is detained. Also 3 VCS in same location found, pack, pistol belts, 2 M-72 heat rounds, 1 Chi Com grenade, evac VCS and destroyed weapons. At 1545hrs Bravo Company at BS818401 located a 60mm round that hadn’t been fired, destroyed in place. At 2135hrs Bravo Company at bridge 99 reports movement at BS913284, will fire artillery on target, also the Mike Force will fire mortar fire. At 2140hrs Bravo Company at Bridge 105 put ambush out at BS880308 and Bridge 102 put out ambush at BS886272.
Charlie Company
February 13, 1968
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Uptight. At 1135hrs Charlie Company vicinity BT735835 detained 1 VCS evading and evac to 198th IPW Cage. At 1225hrs Charlie Company is located at BS728828 and by 1420hrs Charlie Company 1st and 2nd Platoon at BS734815, 3rd Platoon at BS719799. At 1420hrs Charlie Company at BS740808 observed 3 VC with weapons moving southwest 600-700 meters and Task Force Barker would like to have Gun ships at LZ Dottie so if need they well be available. At 1555hrs Charlie Company is at BS738810 received sniper fire, 3 minutes later 1 VC KIA, shot out of tree. At 1640hrs Charlie Company at BS738808 1st Platoon and 2nd Platoon area pinned down by heavy sniper fire, are now adjusting artillery and at 1708hrs reports no longer being fired on. At 1715hrs Charlie Company is at BS736815 with 1 VC evading would not stop results, 1 VC KIA. At 2145hrs Charlie Company is back at LZ Uptight with their Security Mission.
Delta Company
February 13, 1968
At 1015hrs Delta Company is at BS788299 and at 1120hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is at BS791318 and at 1105hrs-found a tunnel 200’ long 4’X4’ concert floor and sides and roof request assistance to blow it, need 40 pound shape charges, and charges. At 2045hrs Delta Company Night Defense Position is at BS808322 with 2nd and 3rd Platoons at BS805313. Delta Company is getting ready for a Cordon and Search Operation in morning.
Echo Company
February 13, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 1015hrs Recon Platoon at BS900270 detained 1 VCS her names on ID card matched that given on VC name list. She is reported to have been feeding VC. Recon Platoon found 2 50 gal cans of rice in hut.
