Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Cork and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations in OPERATION VERNON LAKE II.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0945hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS718596 received 75 rounds automatic weapon fire, negative casualties and continued the Mine Sweep team. At 0815hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer, Mine Sweep Team purchased 1 105mm Artillery round for 200 piaster from Vietnamese civilian and blew round in Place (VIP) program. At 1130hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS833335 purchased 3 81mm HE rounds, 1 81mm WP round and 1 155mm Artillery rounds, paid 1,400 Piasters from Vietnamese civilian MY TRANG. All the 81mm Mortar rounds were new, all ammo blown in place.
Alpha Company

Bravo Company
December 13, 1968
At 0924hrs Bravo Company made a Combat Assault from BS311609 to vicinity BS454590 at 0924hrs LZ cold to act as a blocking force for the 2nd ARVN Division. At 1351hrs to 1420hrs Bravo Company reports 3 US WIA, 2 US WIA (E) and 1 US with minor wound received frag from unknown type explosion, Dust Off completed at 1420hrs. Investigation at present with more to follow what has been determined that the people that were wounded was the results of 1 81mm Mortar rounds was results of 1 81mm Mortar round by request of the unit to suppress fire from automatic fire positions that was firing on friendly troops 1st round went off over them and it was the last round from the Mortars, they stood up and 2nd round was fired resulting in wounding the men, a detailed investigation will be conducted. Bravo Company reports their Night Defense Position is at BS452593.
Charlie Company

At 1010hrs Charlie Company made a Combat Assault from BS314590 to vicinity BS435984 to set as a blocking force for the 2nd ARVN Division. At 1130hrs Charlie Company engaged 3 VC wearing packs evading resulting in 3 VC KIA and 1 weapon CIA negative ID. Charlie Company reports their Night Defense Position at BS454591.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Search and Clear Operations in their Area of Operations. At 1710hrs Delta Company reports all elements of Echo Company has closed on LZ Cork move is completed from Fire Support Base Volunteer.
Echo Company
December 13, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Cork where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Cork. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Cork where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion) with Recon Platoon to continue their Security Mission for the TOC All elements on LZ Volunteer have move to LZ Cork, LZ Volunteer is closed and move completed at 1710hrs.
