Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0818hrs E Troop at BS919192 3 Vietnamese WIA and 1 KIA, say they were wounded by artillery around 2300hrs last night Dust Off to Qui Nhon.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2350hrs Base placed on Yellow alert, mortar rounds impacting vicinity Duc Pho undetermined source back to Green at 0017hrs.
Alpha Company
August 13, 1968
At 0735hrs Alpha Company at BS822339, engaged 1 VCS evading results I VCS WIA CIA, 15 years old, no ID, no documents and dressed in Black PJ no weapon and Dust Off completed. Then at 0745hrs engaged 2 VC results 2 VC CIA, 1 male 30, and 1 female 25 dressed in black PJ with no ID or documents will evac to LZ Thunder. At 0805hrs Alpha Company location is at BS822339. At 1800hrs Alpha Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS8343354 with ambushes at BS827359, BS855354 and BS842363.
Bravo Company
August 13, 1968
At 0805hrs Bravo Company is located at BS839289 and at 1055hrs at BS840287 found a hootch containing 800 pounds of rice, 30 sets of black PJ, 50 pounds of salt, 50 pounds of tobacco, and no signs of recent use. Believe this may have been used as a way station and will destroy all items in place. At 1111hrs at BS840287 Bravo found 1 hut with 60 pounds of sugar appeared to be old, hut appeared to be a taxable exit point with one man 40 years in the hut had 2 sets of clothing on 1 White on Black. In the same area 5 women and 8 children will send interpreter out to talk with these people, Hut and sugar was destroyed. At 1255hrs 1-20 request 1 PW team from 52 MI to go to Bravo location and will pick up a Southeast pad at 1250hrs. At 1206hrs Bravo Company at BS840287 found 1 steel pot in a hootch and 400 pounds of rice. Hutch appears to be a way station and will evac the 400 pounds of rice and the team will question the people in the area on amount of rice. At 1800hrs Bravo Company Night Defense Position is at BS836285 with ambushes at BS835292, BS834276, BS839273 and BS844288.
Charlie Company
August 13, 1968
Charlie Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 0041hrs at Bunker #7 at BS870327 PFC James F Lucus was wounded in left foot by accidental self inflicted gunshot wound, while performing guard duty, Dust Off completed at 0055hrs and condition is good.
Delta Company
August 13, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1300hrs Delta Company at BS918262 engaged 1 VC evading results 1 VC KIA, dressed in white. At 1800hrs Delta Company establish ambushes at BS905235, BS915228, BS919242, BS916254, BS924266 and BS894231 with LP at BS932220.
Echo Company
August 13, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 0945hrs Recon Platoon 1-20 Infantry reports they where pick up was picked up. At 1500hrs Recon Platoon requests hot chow for 33 people also would like 3 cases of cokes, will be ready by 1715hrs.
