Headquarters and Headquarter Company
November 12, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Cork and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations in OPERATION VERNON LAKE II. At 0945hrs Aerial Scouts conducts a Visual Recon of Arc lights at 0730-1900hrs at BS432541 several huts and bunkers some destroyed, some huts are being rebuilt. At BS432537 6-8 bunkers are not heavy type some of the bunkers destroyed. At BS448535 several huts and a well use trails, huts are living huts, was no farming in area. At BS448530 3 huts 1 was destroyed, nothing important about them. At BS423523 along stream to BS438532 20 huts in area they are the living type, at BS419570 1 very deep hole about 4’ in diameter inside of a bomb crater. At 0830hrs Aerial Scouts at BS435525 and BS435526 received small arms fire, negative hits. At 1030hrs Aerial Scouts at BS462469 engaged 2 NVA in green uniforms and packs, results 9 NVA KIA. At 1605hrs 1-20 Infantry reports their Utility helicopter at BS463557 received small arms fire, set down at LZ Cork and are checking air craft took 2 hits in engine compartment and 1 in the tail. At 1630hrs Aerial Scouts observed camouflaged huts at BS426524 and BS432543. At BS502450 observed 4 VC, 2 wearing black PJ and 2 wearing green with weapons and packs the VC evaded into wood line and Helix was in area and is putting in an Air Strike.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. SP4 Herman N. Hollins was evac to 27th Surgical Hospital at 1500hrs gunshot wounds to both legs.
Alpha Company
November 12, 1968
Alpha Company conducted Combat Sweeps again in their Area of Operation and at 1345hrs Alpha Company is located at BS470557. At 1735hrs Alpha Company at BS468558 reports 1 US hit in head by C Ration Box knocked unconscious and Dust Off requested. At 1905hrs Alpha Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS446551. Alpha Company reports PFC Benny D. Romero was evac to the 312 Evac at 1740hrs.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to use Combat Sweeps operations in their Area of Operation. At 1345hrs Bravo Company is located at BS475557, and at 1900hrs Bravo Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS473555.
Charlie Company
November 12, 1968
Charlie Company continued to conduct Combat Sweep operations in their Area of Operation and at 1045hrs at BS452571 found 1 hut with fresh camouflaged, 2 medium size bunkers and 1 large bunker which look used. At 1345hrs Charlie Company is located at BS465556. At 1520hrs Charlie Company at BS459569 engaged 4 NVA with weapons negative assessment. At 1550hrs Charlie Company at BS459569 engaged 1 VC evading, with results 1 VC KIA was carrying pack with rice. At 1620hrs Charlie Company at BS460569 received sniper fire, results 1 US WHA in this action and evac, returned fire with negative assessment and then at 1653hrs Charlie Company at BS463566 received small arms fire negative hits and negative results. At 1905hrs Charlie Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS460529. Charlie Company reports the following SP4 Michael Bernhardt SK and PFC Earnest L Lovern injured where evac to 312 Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

At 1030hrs Delta Company at BS412575 found 3 sets of footprints size unknown pointing southwest. At 1345hrs Delta Company is located at BS420576. At 1905hrs Delta Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS417573.
Echo Company
November 12, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Cork where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Cork. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Cork where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Cork.
