Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0003hrs TMF Sting 296 B, has 3 to 5 personnel moving west to east at 3 miles per hour, negative clearance, Code 1. At 0120hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line weak at # 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 all personnel aware of primary, not so with alternate. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Access Road is clear. At 1425hrs Primo 2 is on station at this time. At 1645hrs To Brigade S-3 From 1-20 Infantry Major Edwards, Brigadier General Gorwitz visited Out Post Nui Vong 1500hrs to 16615hrs walked perimeter discussed defense posture, talked to troops individually, discussed Alert Procedures, reaction forces, wire barrier, defensive targets coordination of all element at OP, visited with IOS and radar. Major Edwards at OP when ADC-5 arrived and ruing stay ADC-5 appeared well pleased no derogatory comments, nor suggestions. At 1930hrs MACV MO Duc, during operations today PF 140, 148, 153, 152, 158 and National Police detained 16 females and 15 males, vicinity BS768426, they are still being interrogated at MO Duc. At 2007hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 9, Bravo 4, Delta 3 for a total of 16 out. At 2130hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection Bunkers #14, 15, 16, 17 were satisfactory. At 2240hrs RF 103 while in ambush location at BS753547 engaged VC rice carrying party (5 males, 3 females) at a proximity of 400 to 500 meters, VC evaded to north then west, results 1 female VC KIA (20 to 30) and 1 Chi Com CIA. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company used Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1030hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon took approximately 30 rounds of small arms fire from south, requested priority Dust Off for 1 US line #L8834 with gunshot to thigh, vicinity 721378 completed at 1055hrs to Duc Pho and call in a Artillery Fire Mission. At 1305hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon sighted 2 personnel vicinity BS760376 and pursued them, detained 1 male approximate 40, with no ID. Also they detained 1 female approximately 40 and she had ID. Kit Carson found a bunker under construction, it was 6’ X 5’ X 3’ and had logs laying for overhead cover, it was destroyed and detainees will be hauled to LZ Liz and then to MACV Duc Pho. Also as Bird came in detained 1 Vietnamese female with pack strips and 1 male, 18, who also has been watching area for a couple of days. At 1523hrs Alpha Company Command Post at their Patrol base bought 1 fuse bomb from 3 soda kids, 10-13 paid with 4 bars of soap for it. At 1935hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon moving to Night Defense Position at BS757375, 3rd Platoon ambush at BS753376, Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon moving to BS744383, 2nd Platoon at BS723398 and 9 Mechanical Ambush out. PFC John Lawson was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company used Patrol Bases and multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0610hrs Bravo Company all element are moving to their Patrol Bases Command Post 2nd and 4 Platoons to BS682505 and 3rd Platoon to BS698512. At 1645hrs General Gorwitz visited OP Nui Vong 1500hrs to 1615hrs. At 1830hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon requested 1 Urgent Dust off for 1 person with 104 temp, stomach craps and leg cramps, possible acute appendicitis Bird #54 completed Dust Off at 1957hrs to Chu Lai at 698512 (line # W1957). At 1956hrs Bravo Company reports all elements in Night Defense Position at BS695516 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out. Bravo Company reports the following PFC Danny L. Wallace was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

At 0545hrs Charlie Company has closed on their units and area moving to LZ Liz Charlie Company is taking over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2130hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection Bunkers #14, 15, 16, 17 were satisfactory.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection satisfactory however Bunker line is weak at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, personnel aware of primary job, not so with alternates needs some work. At 0755hrs LZ Liz access road is clear. At 1220hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon, Command Post, 4th Platoon at BS701452, 1st and 2nd Platoons is at BS707467. At 1824hrs Delta Company all patrols have closed on locations. At 2001hrs Delta Company all in Night Defense Position Command Post and 3rd and 4th Platoons at BS704451 and 1st and 2nd Platoon at BS718462 and have 3 mechanical ambushes out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
