Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0445hrs 1-20 infantry TOC Radar sighted 8 to 10 personnel moving southwest at BS734397 and engaged with 10 HE of Artillery 105mm and at 0100hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS755524 with negative clearance. At 0145hrs 10 to 15 personnel were sighted moving northwest at BS719494 and engaged with 21 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 0225hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS723477 and engaged with 14 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 0640hrs TMF had string 61b activated and engaged with 9 HE of Artillery 105mm at BS798329. At 0730hrs Alpha Company 93 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer we are moving to BS754605. At 1340hrs TMF at string 73 was activated by 3 personnel moving northeast to southwest at 3 miles per hour and metal detected with 10 rounds VT fired from Artillery 105mm. At 1740hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer a total of 32 hours were worked with 24 acres cleared at BS750615, BS750616, BS743606, and BS741606 (200 X 500 meters), we destroyed 2 fighting positions, 2 booby traps made of C ration cans and blasting caps, 1 chi Com Grenade was also destroyed. We used 400 gallons of fuel, 6 pounds of C4 was used, 4 D7 were operational, 1 D7 has a track blown off and 2 CEV are to be operational. At 1800hrs TMF at 1757hrs string 61 detected 4 personnel moving north to south with no metal confirmation and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2025hrs TMF at BS778373 with Sting 73 it was activate by 5 personnel with metal detected and engaged with 12 HE round Artillery 105mm and radar sighted at BS774420 and negative clearance due to the proximity of Bravo Company.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Headquarters and Headquarters reports SP4 Hershel James Medic from Headquarters and Headquarter Company with gunshot wound to right leg also at 23 Medical treated at 0730hrs (See Echo Company for June 12, 1970 was with Recon Platoon.
Alpha Company
June 12, 1970
Alpha Company again started their saturation patrolling early. At 1330hrs Alpha Company 93 the security element working with the engineers, got one NVA, KIA at grid BS740615. He was carrying a M-16 (SN1308902), a small back pack, wearing a blue gray uniform and had an ID which was shot up. H was engaged at 30 meters and we checked out a wood line with negative further finding. The NVA did try to return fire, but his M-16 would not fire, but he did have 1 US Frag, I US Magazines, one pistol belt, one US canteen. Also had one complete blue uniform, insect repellent, one US Flashlight, one NVA Flag, one small bag of rice and some documents. At 1600hrs Alpha Company moving to Night Defense Position at BS758382 and by 1910hrs all patrols have closed on their Night Positions.
Bravo Company

At 1850hrs Bravo Company the 54 element on their patrol picked up one female, 20-30, all black cloths, no ID at BS801409 and will send her to MACV. At 0905hrs the 95 element picked up one female approximately 21 at grid BS778458, no ID on the blacklist, she also will go to MACV. At 2023hrs Bravo Company 18 element is moving back due to an ill person at 2025hrs they closed.
Charlie Company

At 0640hrs Charlie Company the 53 element moving to their objective at BS673503. Late Report on 112000 June 1970 at grid BS687509 the 32 element observed flashlights moving down the mountain and engaged with 105mm Artillery at 2100hrs. On 11 June more lights were observed at BS686507 and engaged with 155’s with negative finding on both sighting, on 120930hrs the 53 element found a VC weigh Station with 10 sleeping positions, clothing, small amount of rice and some documents with all items destroyed vicinity BS687509. At 0713hrs Charlie Company the 93 element is at bS673503 and the 13 element is at BS685509. At 0930hrs Charlie Company the 93 element spotted and engaged 1 VC at 150 meters and the 93 element swept the area and Warlords checked the area with negative finding and the VC was spotted at BS678508. Late Report: On 121130 June 70 at grid BS676507 the 13 element found a hootch and tunnel and found one NVA Pith helmet and some commo wire which will be evacuated. At 1630hrs Charlie 53 element conducted a Combat Assault form BS687509 to LZ BS692486. At 1840hrs Charlie Company we requests a priority Dust Off for 1 US with symptoms of drug withdraws, Line # 015, completed at 1855hrs grid BS692488. At 2020hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position in vicinity BS678853, the mechanical ambush locations are at BS684510, BS781503 and BS677507 and the Command Post has 4 and 53 element at BS688500 has 4 mechanical ambushes out.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1940hrs Delta Company the Access road security is in their position.
Echo Company
June 12, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total expended of 10 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0525hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to our sweep location at BS780460. At 0645hrs Recon We request a routine Dust Off for 2 US resulting from wounds received when they received a heavy amount of sniper fire at BS727610. The fire was from an estimate (squad size) enemy force and received it from 100 meters to their east. Contact was broken and we are checking the area. Larry Webb (FOX 5) has a flesh wound to the right leg and the medic has a flesh wound to the upper right leg. The Dust Off was completed at 0734hrs at BS727610 and we are reacting at this time and calling in Artillery. We sent a squad to check the area of enemy fire but the VC evaded to the west and had negative finding. At 0750hrs Recon Platoon we are on the Red ball. At 1100hrs Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz to take over their Battalion Security Mission. Recon Platoon reports PFC Larry Webb at 0430hrs treated at Bravo 23 Medical for gunshot wounds back also SP4 Hershel James Medic from Headquarters and Headquarter Company with gunshot wound to right leg also at 23 Medical treated at 0730hrs.
