Headquarters and Headquarter Company
June 12, 1968

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. At 1230hrs F Troop 17 Cav found some type of mine 12" in diameter and 8" long found in a cone shape made of tin, unknown type of firing device, was laying out in the open and was blown in place.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and will continue their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0945hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer vicinity BS715598 reports Artillery 105mm round hit in rice paddy 1 Vietnamese civilian was med evac.

 

Alpha Company
June 12, 1968

Alpha Company continued to conduct the Security Mission for LZ Ryder with their Platoon OP.

 

Bravo Company
June 12, 1968

Bravo Company working with Charlie Company 3-21 Infantry continued to Search and Clear operations from BT049299 to BT035312 and remains OPCON to 3-21 Infantry. Bravo Company reports SP4 David A. Menck and PFC Steven F. Schwenn where attached to the 91st Evac Hospital sick at 1138hrs.

 

Charlie Company
June 12, 1968

Charlie Company is OPCON to the 3-21 Infantry and sweeps to the Vicinity BS0231. Charlie Company continued their Search and Destroy operation to BS049299 to BS035312. At 0800hrs Charlie Company vicinity BT039312 received 20 rounds of sniper fire 700 meters from their location, calling Artillery will check area. At 0840hrs received 20 more rounds of sniper fire and returned fire negative casualties or damage checking area at this time. At 1529hrs Charlie Company at BT044302 as resupply chopper enter PZ troops received small arms fire with 1 WIA (E).

 

Delta Company
June 12, 1968

Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Ross and Security mission for Highway 535.

 

Echo Company
June 12, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry reports Recon Platoon manned OP Dragon.
