Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0100hrs LATE SPOT RF 103 at 112330hrs vicinity BS765476 while in Ambush location received VC sniper fire, Ambush returned fire, then the PF outpost returned fire on the ambush and there were negative casualties, LZ Liz fired 4 rounds of 4.2 Illumination. At 0100hrs RF 103 at 120030hrs vicinity BS746486 ambush made contact with unknown size enemy force resulting in 7 VC KIA, CIA 2 AK 47 not US confirmed a these time. At 0210hrs 4 ARVN Recon at 112353hrs vicinity BS758485 made contact with estimated Company of NVA and local guerrillas, received heavy amount of small arms fire, automatic weapons fire and some RPG. Requested Gun ships and Flare ships arrived and checked the area with negative findings. Broke station at 0205hrs and results 4 NVA from the 107th NVA Battalion KIA, 5 local VC KIA, negative friendly casualties, enemy evaded to the east and northeast. At 0728hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been swept of mines. At 0930hrs MACV Duc Pho, RF 175 at 0600hrs vicinity BS890305 while returning from Ambush location hit a booby trap hand frag with trip wire resulting in 1 RF WIA, not US confirmed. At 2035hrs Nui Von at 2027hrs had Alert after ARVN popped a red star cluster, 100% achieved at 2029hrs, Hill Defense Targets were fired. At 2030hrs back to 25% alert. At 2115hrs Nui Vong went on 100% Alert because of Red Star Cluster, fired 81mm Illumination on preplanned Defense Targets, H & I with small arms and M-79, went back to 50% at 2120hrs, false alarm. At 2228hrs LZ Liz at 2227hrs went on Alert after bunker 5 popped a red star cluster, 100% achieved at 2230hrs, cease-fire at 2232hrs, Bunker 5 thought Red Star was illumination, alert end at 2235hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1710hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon while on patrol out vicinity BS711434 found 1 dead VC/NVA, was badly decayed, looked approximately 23, wearing green trousers and black shirt. Body appeared to be at least 1 month old, killed by small arms fire. (Believe the KIA possible to be from Charlie Company contact on 3 June.) At 2000hrs Alpha Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS718427, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS720430, 1st Platoon vicinity BS729454 and 1st Platoon ambush at BS725453.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued will continue to use Patrol bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2013hrs Bravo Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS667524 with 1st Platoon at BS673513.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz and Security Mission for the Access Road. At 2228hrs LZ Liz at 2227hrs went on Alert after bunker 5 popped a red star cluster, 100% achieved at 2230hrs, cease-fire at 2232hrs, Bunker 5 thought Red Star was illumination, alert end at 2235hrs.
Delta Company

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1750hrs Recon will move to their Night Defense Position at BS684521. At 2113hrs Recon has closed on BS681521.
