Headquarters and Headquarter Company
July 12, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 2034hrs MACV Received call from PF element stating a ¾ Ton Truck accident has occurred on bridge 112, negative injures reports request some US Element police up damage vehicle. At 2150hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC accident at Bridge 112, ¾ Ton truck ran off road and is stuck in med, no damage to vehicle Bumper # HQ97, Headquarters 11 Infantry Brigade 2 US personnel will spend night with 1-20 Infantry element on Bridge 111. ¾ Ton belongs to Headquarters Mess Hall driver named Lindsey, he took garbage to pig farm, departed LZ Bronco at 1800hrs.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1428hrs 1/4 ton bumper #7PNGD – 1613hrs with 2 US and 3 Vietnamese received 2 M-79 fire and 12 rounds automatic weapons fire vehicle will moving north with negative casualties didn’t return fire action was observed by 1 Delta Company 19 Engineer at grid BS919202.

 

Alpha Company
July 12, 1968

Alpha Company is located at BS797366. At 1310hrs called a Dust Off for 1 US with possible appendicitis, Dust Off completed at 1320hrs. At 1242hrs Delta Company at BS794359 found 8 rounds ammo in M-1 clip, was in a tree will destroy. At 1821hrs Alpha Company 30 and Command Post is in their Night Defense Position at BS797367 with 20 at Bronco ambush sites at BS790366, BS799356, and BS803352.

 

Bravo Company
July 12, 1968

Bravo Company (-) has the Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1821hrs locations is as follows Bravo Company (-) at LZ Thunder with ambushes at BS790366, BS799356, and BS803352.

 

Charlie Company
July 12, 1968

At 1155hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS895310. At 1826hrs Charlie Company at BS892311 detained 1 VCS in a hootch, had a false ID, will evac to LZ Bronco. At 1821hrs Charlie Company moves into their Night Defense Position at BS889313 with ambush sites at BS887310, BS888313, and BS885314.

 

Delta Company
July 12, 1968

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and at 0800hrs Delta Company is at BS932245 and by 1200hrs at BS928252. At 1428hrs 1/4 ton bumper #7PNGD – 1613hrs with 2 US and 3 Vietnamese received 2 M-79 fire and 12 rounds automatic weapons fire vehicle will moving north with negative casualties didn’t return fire action was observed by 1 Delta Company at grid BS919202. At 1821hrs Delta Company Command Post and 30 is at BS929251, 10 at Charlie Brown with 11 at Bridge 94 with 20 at BS924263.

 

Echo Company
July 12, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 1055hrs Recon Platoon at BS482472 reports observed 67 VC moving up draw on right side of hill 700 carrying heavy packs and some with boxes. Recon Element above them reports, same thing usually moving in groups of 4 moving from BS472475 to BS470476. Calling in Artillery requesting air strikes and Recon will move into area to check it out. At 1158hrs at BS472475 and air strike was conducted 4 Napalm and 4 (500) pounds bombs were dropped plus 20mm fire, results 100% cover on target. At 1155hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS481473. At 1700hrs Recon Platoon at BS480457 checked bomb area found 15 packs with ground corn, each pack weighed 100 pounds each, destroyed all. Also found 1 notebook with 3 pages of entry, 1 medical pack with stethoscope with medical equipment, misc. papers, documents, 1 hammer and sickle emblem and Company shot record for all personnel from Delta Company 245. At 1810hrs Recon after moving to pick up site received 1 sniper round with results 1 US WHA. Hit him right arm above the elbow. Sniper fire came from BS481446. WHA was evac to LZ Bronco extraction completed at 1740hrs. SP4 Robert D. McRee was injured and evac to 27th Surgical at 1800hrs. SP4 Albert Robles was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital at 0900hrs sick.
