Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1100hrs Charlie Company the 72 element working with the engineers at BS688584 set off a booby trap, believed to be a 105 artillery round, with 1 Engineer personnel wounded in the upper arms and Dust Off completed, Brigade was informed. At 1245hrs The 26 Engineer M 72 (ARVN) reports the Engineer received 1 RPG round from BS683587 and Artillery was requested. The RPG round was aimed at a D7 but inflected no damage. We believe it was 1 sniper who shot the round, we returned fire and 1 element with a CEV is pulling security. At 1430hrs 81mm Mortar report Bravo Company has 195 HE, 53 WP and 110 Illumination rounds on had, Charlie has 7 HE and 8 illuminations rounds on hand and the Delta Company has 6 HE and 8 Illumination rounds on hand. At 1445hrs S-5 Daily Report PSYOPS for the past 24 hours include a 5 minutes tape target at C219 at grid BS7541, 5 minutes of tape target at the local populace and 5 minutes of taped targeted at C19 at BS6652. Also at BS7557 C19 was played 5 minutes of tape. Brigade night operations included 10 minutes of tape was target at BS7340 to C219. Solarium was made to a family in Tach Tru Hamlet for the death of a woman by a truck of 26 Engineer, Headquarters and Headquarter Company. August 10 a visit was made to Duc Vinh Village to discuss with the Chief the damage done to rice near Nui Ong Do when E Troop, 1-1 Calvary entered. At 1617hrs Air Calvary Box 66 findings included largest fields of what looked like corn at BS629455, a well used trail east to west at BS622471, a week old grave at BS637454 and wooden boxes with metal bands and special card board boxes at BS698458. At 1740hrs 26 Engineer a total of 64 hours were worked clearing 60 acres in the area of BS685580 to BS575585 to BS695580 destroying 13 bunkers, 150 meters of trench, 100 meters of tunnels. Also 1 105 booby trap, 1 82mm round, 2 60mm round, 1 250 pound bomb, 1 M-79 round and 25 rockets. 1 D7 is deadline with a leak in the rear main and 1 deadline with a radiator leak and 1 M548 is dead line with 2 belts broken. All other equipment is operational. Brigade Intelligence report from Nehia Hanh PRU reports that at BS680582 there are 150 men, well armed with the mission to attack OP and refugee camps in the nearby area and support the VCI in food collecting plan.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the Access Road.
Bravo Company
August 12, 1970
At 0705hrs Bravo Company request an Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese female civilian with a gunshot wound to the left leg she was brought to the Bravo Company 73 location by some Vietnamese civilians. The injury was caused possibly by a stray round, grid to pick up at BS710552 completed at 0720hrs. At 1835hrs Bravo Company we request a routine Dust Off for one US with a temp of 104.7 and stomach cramps Name PFC Robert W. Hiroms, completed at 1840hrs at grid BS684607. At 2200hrs Bravo Company a patrol, one Kit Carson Scout and 4 Vietnamese are moving to grid BS710589 on a 30 minute patrol in area enemy suspected at being at this location. Bravo Company reports that PFC Robert W. Hiroms was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will continue their use of multiply Day Ambushes and some patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 0707hrs Charlie Company the 36 Day Ambush is at BS710552 but has to return due to commo problems. At 0816hrs Charlie Company the 56 element found 1 155 rounds on a trail with a trip wire leading into a hole at BS705556 blown in place. At 1009hrs the 54 element at checkpoint 1 found a concussion type booby trap BS707546 in a tin can and a trip wire across the trail. It was blown in place. At 1015hrs Charlie Company the 72 elements reports that the Engineer found a (55gallon) drum, of rice at BS686584, the Dossier spread it out and destroyed it. We also paid 200 Vietnamese for 2 60mm Mortar rounds. At 1045hrs Charlie Company the 54 element took about 10 of semi-automatic fire and checking the area of BS703544 with negative finding. At 1100hrs Charlie Company the 72 element working with the engineers at BS688584 set off a booby trap, believed to be a 105 artillery round, with 1 Engineer personnel wounded in the upper arms and Dust Off completed, Brigade was informed. At 1620hrs the 52 element spotted two enemies, that where evading into a tree line 600 to 700 meters to their northwest. It looked as if one of the enemies had a weapon fired Artillery with negative finding. At 1917hrs Charlie Company the 70, 42 element is in their Night Defense Position at locations BS719559 and 52 Night Defense Position is at BS704550.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to use saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0624hrs Delta Company the 55 element has closed on BS778578, the 35 element is moving to BS770576 and the 36 element is moving to BS776570. At 0742hrs Delta Company the 52 element is at BS753574, the 35 element is at BS776578 and the 70, 42 and 72 elements is at BS759559. At 2100hrs reports ambushes are in location.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0432hrs 4.2 Platoon reports fire Missions 2 with a total expended he 25, WP 9 and 9 CS rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0615hrs Recon reports the 52 element is head for LZ Liz.
