Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0215hrs LZ Liz, Bravo Company reports Bunker 16 spotted movement between them and bunker 15. Fired with M-79m and the #15 hit by frag from M-79 round in chest. Treated by Platoon medic, taken to Aid Station, treated and returned to bunker duty does not need a medieval. At 0550hrs Bravo Company 94 element on SOP reports they have received 2 incoming mortar rounds with no casualties or damage. Response is Shooting Defense Targets with 81mm mortars and report negative casualties. At 0810hrs 39th Engineer Charlie Company at grid BS759488, south of bridge there is one large vehicle in flames and an RPG hit one jeep that looks like it. Total of 1 KIA and 3 US WIA, Dust Off not complete, personnel still in contact. At 0945hrs Warlords LOH at BS790430 received small arms fire with results negative hits or damage and engaged and expended ammo on BS789431. At 1015hrs at BS 782439 detained 1 man and turned over to the 1-20 Infantry on LZ Liz. At 1010hrs FAC 33 will be putting in Air Strike grid BS860370 grid is clear. The Bomb Damage Assessment 1 structure destroys 1 structure damage and 3 sustained fires. There are 5 Dud 500 pound bombs and 2 dud napalm canister in vicinity of BS858371. About 100 meters northwest of the actual plot, there are 2 big hootches in the grid and 2 500 pound bombs landed on the south side of the big front lawn which faces east. At 1100hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS803387 truck detonated 15 pounds pressure mine, blew off wheel with negative casualties (info only). At 1600hrs AJAXS: Alpha Company 102, Bravo Company 89, Charlie Company 101, Delta Company 88, Recon Platoon 26, 4.2 Platoon 28 and Security Platoon 24. At 2105hrs LZ Liz, Bravo Company reports has commo with all bunkers except bunker 16, but 15 has verbal contact with 16. At 2245hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS872324 reports LZ Debbie received 2 rounds of M-79 fire south side of hill with negative casualties or damage (info only).
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0116hrs LZ Bronco is now on yellow alert status taking incoming rounds on LZ Bronco. At 0221hrs LZ Bronco is now on White alert. SP4 John J. Hainge was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company returns to LZ Liz 1st PZ 0740hrs and last LZ at 0740hrs and making preparations Combat Assault Operations.
Bravo Company
August 12, 1969
Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0215hrs LZ Liz Bunker 16 spotted movement between them and Bunker 15, fired with M-79. Man in #15 hit by frag from M-79 in chest treated by platoon medic, taken to Aid Station treated and returned to bunker duty, does not need evac. At 0550hrs Bravo Company reports two mortar rounds on the southern part of the perimeter with no casualties or damage.
Charlie Company

At 0545hrs Charlie Company leaving and moving out for at Cordon and Search Operation and by 0650hrs we have found old people, who informed us that the VC were here 2 days ago but left. The 91, 51, and Command Post are on taking part in this operation. At 0730hrs we are back in our Night Defense Position at this time we will use this as our Day Logger. Charlie Company used Recon in Force patrols in their Area of Operation today. At 1810hrs Charlie Company we received 20 rounds of automatic weapon fire and one M-79, from our south southeast of our day logger location BS802482 and we returned fire and their was no causality. At 1905 we are leaving our Day Logger at this time and at 2005hrs we are in out Night Defense Position at BS802468 with the 51 and 91 elements is the snake location by 2127hrs.
Delta Company
August 12, 1969
Delta Company at 0655hrs reports that they are moving to their Day logger at BS722439. The 53 element Recon in Force to BS734437 and on return to day logger will check out Night Defense Site. Delta plans Night Defense Position BS726436, the 51 element snake BS718429, the 91 snake BS721435 is located close to the Night Defense, because they have been setting up snakes in the 515 Valley every night. At 2125hrs are all in their locations at this time and the 51 Snake changes location to BS728428.
Echo Company
August 12, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2
Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Target 3, Observed Missions 3 with total expend 17 HE and 6 WP. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. PFC William T. Moore was attached to 312th Evac Hospital (11B10).
