Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0450hrs Saber 40 is on station to work Box 63, spotted 1 person wearing green at BS792449, engaged area and received return fire from a bunker, broke station at 0535 with negative further results. At 0700hrs LZ Liz TOC 1 male Chieu Hoi surrendered at LZ Liz at 0640hrs, states he is from the 40 NVA Sapper Battalion. At 0750hrs LZ Liz Access road is now open. At 0810hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 34 is on station. At 0900hrs Primo 5 is on station at this time. At 0910hrs Helix 34 has broken station. At 0935hrs MACV Mo Duc request Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF (103 RF) at BS803468 with multiply frag wounds from mine Dust Off 54 completed at 1040hrs. At 1351hrs 1-20 Infantry to Brigade Commander in reference to his questions: 1 Perimeter 100 meters by 60 meters with individual dug fighting positions. 2. Maximum security was in effect around perimeter to accept re supply. Plans included a local security Patrol after re supply at dusk. 3. LZ at 3rd Platoon was cleared by hand and blasting to accept re supply. At 2130hrs MACV Duc Pho PF 170 Platoon while en route to nightly ambush position was ambushed by estimated squad of VC resulting in 1 PF WIA, with enemy unknown. At 2110hrs Fire Mission at 2045hrs Sting 293 target C, has 7 to 10 personnel moving south to north at 3 miles per hour, negative metal confirmation and engaged at 2053hrs with 20 HE 81mm Mortar rounds. At 2130hrs TMF Fire Mission at 2107hrs Sting 310 Target A, has 3 to 5 personnel moving west to east with metal confirmation and engaged at 2112hrs with 20 HE rounds 4.2mm Mortars. At 2130hrs 1-20 Infantry Access road requests priority Dust Off for 1 US with .45 pistol (accidentally self-inflicted) wound to the buttocks. Bravo Company, Danny B. Crowder completed at 2159hrs by Bird 55, at 2250hrs Saber Black is on station for Box 61, broke station at 2220hrs with negative findings. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0936hrs Alpha Company 2nd and 1st Platoon is moving to BS624518, 3rd Platoon and 1st Platoon Bravo 1-20 Infantry at BS628521. At 1115hrs Alpha 3rd Platoon and Bravo 2nd Platoon is at checkpoint 2 at BS624523. At 1145hrs Alpha Company while moving through vicinity of BS633521, 1st and 2nd Platoons found large camouflaged trail. Along the trail were many sandal tracks, 1 bloody used bandage and a booby trap maker (Arrow, Stakes). At 1140hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoon is at checkpoint 2, vicinity BS633521. At 1215hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon at checkpoint 3 vicinity BS620532, Bravo Company 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 4 at BS622527. At 1235hrs Alpha Company while on patrol 1st Platoon found 1 expended B 40 canister, one mangled B40 rocket launcher, and scattered pieces of flesh and clothing belonging to an NVA KIA. Believed to be have been killed by min gun shot wounds, continuing their search. At 1321hrs Alpha Company also found 4 large pools of blood in the area, drag marks away from the area, leading into a stream. Alpha Company also found 1 booby trap M-79 round with pressure release device, which they blew in place. At 1400hrs Alpha Company the Command Post and 4th Platoon in Patrol base vicinity BS634518. At 1430hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon and Alpha Company 3rd Platoon PZ Alpha 31 is at 1450hrs and PZ Bravo 39 with 1453hrs to 1459hrs LZ 1500 hrs to 1520hrs Combat Assault completed setting up OP at BS633527. At 1906hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoons in preplan location at BS617528. At 1825hrs 1st and 2nd Platoon at Check Point 3 vicinity BS634527, spot one person dressed in black engaged with 81mm Mortar fire. At 1850hrs Alpha Company Command Post 4th Platoon at BS634518, 1st and 2nd Platoon at BS617528 and 3rd Platoon at Bronco for refitting. SGT William F. Lewis was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to have the Security Mission of LZ Liz. Bravo Company 1st Platoon continued their Combat Operations with Alpha Company (see Alpha Company). At 2130hrs 1-20 Infantry Access road requests priority Dust Off for 1 US with .45 pistol (accidentally self-inflicted) wound to the buttocks. Bravo Company Danny B. Crowder Dust Off completed at 2159hrs by Bird 55. PFC Danny B Crowder was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital. SP4 Charles P. Knerr was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

At 1215hrs Charlie Company while on patrol the 3rd Platoon detained 6 Vietnamese civilian at BS733436, Kit Carson Scout questioned them and he believed that they were VC supplies, there were 5 female, 1 male. The male was wearing blue on black and the females were dressed in a variety of clothes and ranged in age from 15 to 65 years old. At 1906hrs 2nd Platoon ambush vicinity BS724435, 2nd Platoon Night Defense Position at BS716426 and at 1907hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon ambush moving to vicinity BS735423, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS232419.
Delta Company

At 0700hrs Delta Company the 3rd and 1st platoon moving to Patrol Base at BS633528. At 0810hrs Delta Company requested Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with multiple frag wounds from Artillery impact. Dust Off 54, was cancelled due to death of patient will be extracted by the Re-supply vicinity BS641534 the 1-82 Artillery at LZ Snoopy is investigating incident. At 0835hrs Delta Company while on patrol 1st and 3rd platoon found a bunker about 3’ X 5’ X4’ height, inside the bunker they found one hammock, 2 "D" batteries and one cloth sack. The bunker appeared to be one month old. Around 1200hrs both 2nd and 3rd platoon set up OP’s 2nd Platoon OP at BS632529 and 3rd Platoon OP at BS634528. At 1930hrs Delta Company reports locations 1st and 3rd platoons at BS632529, Command Post, 4th and 2nd platoon at BS644538. PFC DENNIS GEORGE DONOVAN (Echo Company) WAS LISTED AS KIA.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
