Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0120hrs LZ Liz Alpha Company at 0115hrs had a trip flare go off, engaged area with hand frag and small arms fire, will check area out at first light they believe they have an individual KIA. At 0655hrs Alpha Company found 1 VC KIA and 1 satchel charge CIA, satchel charge, will be blown in place. At 0628hrs LRRP "Pink Lady" inserted. At 1940hrs FAC Helix 35 Air Strike will be going into BS711426 and at 1005hrs FAC Helix 35 Air Strike at BS711436 report Bomb Damage Assessment 2 mortar positions were destroyed. At 1145hrs Oregon LRRP, Pink Lady, at BS707374 found 2 bunkers and 2 small hootches.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0615hrs LZ Bronco 11th Brigade received 3 rounds of 140 rockets (1 on north end of Air Strip, one in front of HQ Company and the third hit on hill above 3-1 Infantry negative casualties. At 1610hrs Target Detection: 0610hrs at BS724453 picked up 6-7 persons moving west engaged with 12 rounds 105mm HE.
Alpha Company

At 0120hrs Alpha Company at LZ Liz had a trip flare go off, engaged area with hand frag and small arms fire, At 0100hrs At BS754433 (on north OP) found 1 VC KIA with possible bullet wound. The man has been death approximately 2 days, dressed in shorts, and is in the vicinity of 20 years old. There was what looks like part of a chi com grenade beside him. A Satchel charge was found on the other side of the hill and a detailed search is being conducted now. At 0655hrs Alpha Company conducts Combat Assault PZ at 0655hrs LZ at 0718hrs completed at BS820405 which they will use as a Day Logger. At 0740hrs Alpha Company reports Command Post, 73, and the 13 element is north of river with the 43 element south of river with the 23 element. At 0940hrs Alpha Company at 0930hrs at BS809409 detained 1 VCS 16 false ID, the RF say it is fake will be evaded for questioning. At 1035hrs Alpha Company locations Command Post and 73 at BS821405, the 23 element at BS814406, the 43 at BS813403 and possible Night Defense Position site for tonight is BS823403. At 1330rhs Alpha Company at BS824430 found freshly dug tunnel 15’ deep and 3 meters wide 15’ in length. At BS821401 found trench line, thought used as observation point of Bronco, 106 and 3.5 case was found in area. An 8 X 10 tunnel boards and bamboo reinforced. At 1400hrs Alpha Company at BS821405 and at 2115hrs Alpha Company moving into their Night Defense Position at BS822402. At 2030hrs Alpha Company are in their Night Defense Position at BS833412. At 2040hrs Alpha Company our 24 element reports they have lost 1 E-5, their snake leader, they are hunting for him now, will retrace to Night Defense Position when they found the E-5 they will return to location. At 2115hrs Alpha Company monitoring PRU push NVA are talking to PF and trying to get location. There is to be a meeting in a schoolhouse around Duc Pho tomorrow. Have no further information at this time, still monitoring the push also had 4 VC/NVA spotted but went into hedgerow before we could bring fire on them. Latest Report, the E-5 has 3 EM with him will attempt to pick up at first light, 24 is not going to move for fear of contact with the lost men. Another transmission for the hootches, we destroyed were theirs (NVA) and they ask how effective their mortars were on Bronco last night and they plan to hit it again tonight. At 2250hrs Alpha Company reports seeing muzzle flashes at BS776375.
Bravo Company

At 0320hrs Bravo Company reports the 45 element is leaving snake location toward northern bridge site. At 0353hrs Bravo Company 24 has closed on Night Defense Position and all snakes have closed by 0700hrs. At 0755hrs Bravo Company closed on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz with the 74 element at BS766438 and at 1953hrs Bravo Company 73 snake is in location.
Charlie Company

At 0545hrs Charlie Company reports 25 and 45 have closed on our location and 0608hrs 24 closed. At 0830hrs Charlie Company reports their present location at BS732430 which will be our Day Logger. At 1015hrs Charlie Company 73 location is at BS726435. At 1400hrs Charlie Company plans Night Defense Position at BS722427 with snakes 76 at BS721430, 43 at BS716435. Charlie Company reports tomorrow Day Logger same as Night Defense Position with Recon in Force 23 and 73 to BS713426. At 1950hrs Charlie Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS722425 and 76 at BS721430 with 43 at BS716435.
Delta Company

Echo Company
September 11, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0620hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 and Defense Targets 3 for a total expended 6 HE and 2 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0615hrs Recon reports they are beginning our sweep. Recon Platoon reports their location at BS779451. At 0700hrs Recon we have swept back to our stay behind element and will break for chow. At 0740hrs Recon we are moving at this time. At 0815hrs Recon in Day logger BS779446, present location with one sub element wish is an OP at location. Later today will cloverleaf at BS783446 and BS772444. At 1000hrs Recon Platoon reported moving to the Red Ball. At 1026hrs Recon Platoon present location is at BS773446. At 1130hrs Recon reports plans Day Logger at BS776450 location with snakes 43 at BS773453, 23 at BS793410 and tomorrow day 12 will Recon in Force to BS779455 and other element will remain in Night Defense Position at BS777451. At 1400hrs Recon Platoon report their location at BS776456. At 1950hrs Recon Platoon reports their Night Defense Position at BS776445 with snakes in place. At 2015hrs Recon we are in our snake location at this time Yankee Delta Company 43 element is in location also and Hotel Alpha Snake is also in the location. At 2040hrs Recon report the 23 and 43 element spotted movement at snake location at BS777448 engaged with small arms fire and received a heavy volume of AK47 fire. The VC/NVA broke content and we will move 200 meters north of our preplanned snake location and will check contact area at first light.
