Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0453hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Targets at 1915hrs sighted 8 to 10 stationary personnel at BS734424 and Alpha Company was informed and at 1930hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS721414 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0743hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC we request mine dog for a four week period starting 15 May 1970 for the land clearing operation of the Gaza Strip. At 0910hrs Brigade CPT Shea notified of the sniffer mission and will notify appropriate people and Major Ward, MACV Duc Pho said the National Police are ready for pick up at the Duc Pho Pad. At 1745hrs Brigade Mine dogs can be picked up on 15 May 1970 and will be exchanged every 3 days. Brigade will bring the dog to LZ Liz from Chu Lai on the exchange day early enough to the exchange dog can be returned to Chu Lai. At 1750hrs Brigade informed us there will be no Night Hawk, 55A due to Recon Platoon location. At 1800hrs E Troop we are in our Night Defense Position at BS783393. Radar PPS 5 at 220hrs sighted 4 to 5 stationary personnel at BS738444 and Alpha Company was informed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. The S-4 Shop Suspended ammo, 5.356 ball ammo lot 17834, 45 ball lot wra 22661, 175mm prop charge Lot BAJ 77383, 7.62 link cart-linked lot TW 6-82395, 5.56 ball RA 55136 and Fuse N248-BWC 7-7.
Alpha Company

At 1735hrs Alpha Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position at BS737447. Alpha Company with a Late Report at 1745hrs we had one US personnel walk into our Day logger at BS735448. He was from 4-3 Infantry with the initials LEH SSAN 524-72-XXXX. 4-3 Infantry request we keep him until tomorrow and said he has been a problem. At 1955hrs Alpha Company Multiple ambushes in place.
Bravo Company

At 0810hrs Bravo Company the 35 element is sweeping moving to BS787433 to BS793436 and BS796446. At 0900hrs Bravo Company the 57 element is moving to BS783440, to BS784446, and the 74 element is moving through BS791449 and BS798445. At 1025hrs Bravo Company the 76 element observed 2 VC evading toward Van Truong and each was carrying one AK 47 and were not engaged or pursued. The area was swept with negative finding. At 1050hrs Bravo Company 74 element is in contact with 5 VC and the 74 element is receiving fire and the Gun ships are requested. The VC first spotted at BS790436. At 1058hrs Bravo Company we request and Urgent Dust Off of one US with a head wound, Dust Off completed at 1110hrs. He was a person from the tracks element. At 2005hrs Bravo Company 79 element has been canceled due to the lack of PF or RF personnel.
Charlie Company

At 0558hrs Charlie Company the 58 element has closed on the 54 element at BS778445. At 0710hrs Charlie Company 54 element at Day Logger BS771388, 74, 34, 94, Command Post, 1st Platoon is at BS784395. Charlie Company is starting their saturation patrolling of their Area of Operation. At 0905hrs at grid BS784395 a cylinder wrapped in plastic with a high of 18", 12" wide and 1/8 inch thick. There were 4 rows of 33 each and just a little smaller then a tear gas of an M-79. They are gray with a red band and lead wires are coming out. The nomenclature is XM16. I wouldn’t blow up and a substance of Red Clay which creates a burning sensation. Brigade says it is C/S canister. We also found some M-14, M-16, ammo in the same location. All items were hidden in a hedgerow. At 1005hrs Charlie Company the 56 element found what appears to be a Night Defense Position site for 15 to 20 personnel (VC) at BS784394. The site contained 4 to 5 defensive positions and remains of cooking fires and food containers (cans). We also found some C/S canisters with the C/S missing. At 1255hrs Charlie Company some Vietnamese children brought in 2 bomblets from a firecracker round and 1 dud M-79 round. The children were paid 100 Vietnamese dollars and the ordnance was blown in place at 784395. At 1604hrs E troop linked up with 74 elements and moving to 800395. At 1744hrs Charlie Company 4 M-79 rounds were brought into the Command Post by Vietnamese children and paid 100 Vietnamese for them at grid BS784395. At 1840hrs Charlie Company Command Post closed on their Night Defense Position at BS786388 and multiple snakes out. At 1848hrs Charlie Company in their Med cap four Vietnamese were treated.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0905hrs Delta Company the access road is open. At 2140hrs Delta Company the 36 element will conduct a Recon in Force from BS760435 to BS776439.
Echo Company
May 11, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 10 for a total expended of 8 HE and 13 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1515hrs Recon we have the 1st PZ at 1515hrs and last LZ at 1625 in the air movement from LZ Liz to the junk fleet at BS735737. At 2105hrs Recon our present location is at BS816462, the 53 element is at BS829440, the 54 element is at BS822450 and the 56 element is at BS832440. At 2125hrs E Troop and Recon were notified of each other location. At 2250hrs Recon is in location the 53 element is at BS829440, the 54 element is at BS822450 and the 56 elements is at BS832440.
