Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0009hrs Nighthawk reports at BS795477 and BS799479 campfires were engaged with mini guns and 50 caliber with negative results, a 3rd campfire at gird BS796478 with personnel around it and they evaded to a mound of dirt nearby with tunnel entrances. We had negative results when fired on the min guns and 50 caliber. At 0650hrs 1-20 Infantry, Commanding Officer left LZ Liz on a Combat Assault and returned at 0755hrs. At 1431hrs Helix (FAC) 35 Bomb Damage Assessment on the Air Strike at BS762357, three sustained fires, 2 bunkers destroyed, and 30 meters of trench line uncovered. At 1520hrs Warning Order: provide one platoon for security for the engineer working on the road. (Mo Duc) which begins on the am of 13 March 1970 for approximately 2 weeks. Coordinate with CPT Keefe and Charlie Company 26th Engineer with no choppers.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 11, 1970
At 1410hrs Alpha Company the 94 element has reached BS767388 with no results. At 1655hrs Alpha Company we are moving to BS778377. At 1815hrs the entire Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS778377. At 2030hrs Alpha Company the 92 element spot 20-30 VC/NVA approximately 200 to 250 meters southeast. We engaged with small arms and artillery. Some of the personnel were wearing black shorts and carrying weapons and packs, the approximately grid is BS781370. They evaded to the east and south and we are checking out the area with negative results. At 2230hrs Alpha Company 92-93-94 elements are in our Night Defense Position at BS779369.
Bravo Company

At 0705hrs Bravo Company 86 element reports they are in their blocking force at BS780465 and BS788470. The 96 element has people evading two of which had weapons. Dolphin is checking the area with unknown results. At 0705hrs the Combat Assault of the 96 element BS778479 and 93 to BS782479, 1st PZ at 0710hrs and 1st LZ at 0720hrs and 2nd PZ at 0720hrs and 2nd LZ at 0727hrs. At 0735hrs the 96 element received 4 to 5 rounds of sniper fire from their front with negative casualties at BS782479, putting Artillery and moving in position. At 0859hrs Bravo Company the 96 element made sweep through the area of the Combat Assault with negative results, did find a blood trail, but 32 –33 elements had one bunker at BS813424 which was blown.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0850hrs Charlie Company 95 element reports they pick up one male at BS725426, white pants and blue shirt, had a ID and is 52 years old, dressed in Buddha Monk clothing. When Charlie Company made a sweep trough the area a few days ago we turned him over to the Military Intelligence with their Night Defense Position at BS750454.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0640hrs Delta Company the 35 snake has closed on LZ Liz. At 2040hrs Delta Company reports the 84 element is roving from BS738439 to BS764437, the 64 element is roving from BS738437 to BS770440 and the 34 element is roving from BS770440 to BS775444.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0658hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 7, Observed Missions 8, and 2 Defense Targets for a total expended of 34 HE, 2 WP, and 33 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0819hrs Recon Platoon the 33 element is moving to OP at BS802364 and at 0841hrs The Recon Platoon 33 element has closed on BS789357, they had radio troubles and had to return to the 32 element location. At 0905hrs Recon the 32 element have closed on BS785433 and the element found one bunker at BS813424 a 1 man camouflaged fighting position which was blown. At 0905hrs Recon the 32 element is at the OP at BS802364. At 1640hrs Recon Platoon reports the 52 element is moving to BS800430 and the 33 element is moving to BS789365 and the 32 snake is moving to BS798375.
