Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0015hrs LZ Liz Delta Company bunker line inspected by CPT. Ross 1, 2, 3, 4 all satisfactory. At 0040hrs Saber 47 is on station for Box 67, negative findings and at 0105hrs going into Box 63, negative findings and at 0125hrs going into Box 62 with negative findings and broke station at 0143hrs. At 0745hrs LZ Liz Access Road is now clear. At 1045hrs MACV Mo Duc reports 1 female civilian WIA on 102004hrs by friendly fire from PF Unit # 176, Dust Off completed at 2026hrs from vicinity BS756525. At 1130hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault for Alpha and Delta Company with Dolphin 26 as AMC Bird 1st PZ at 1030hrs and last LZ is at 1130hrs. At 1346hrs Delta Company LZ Liz, 1st Platoon scrambled to assist a LRRP that has made contact with 6-10 VC/NVA at grid BS674452 in base camp. At 1348hrs Primo 6 on station, Combat Assault force were 4 slicks, 2 guns, 1 AMC Minuteman 20 on station at 1433hrs at 1455hrs PZ for Delta Company 1st Platoon from LZ Liz. At 1500hrs Animals inserted at grid BS677446, at 1510hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon inserted at grid BS677446. At 1548hrs Commanding General arrived at LZ Liz at this time. At 1618hrs Dolphin 17 broke station at this time. At 1855hrs TO Brigade S-3 FROM 1-20 Infantry S-3: requests Combat Assault Lift capability for 12 June 12, 1971 of 4 Lift ships and 2 Gun Ship with 1 AMC to extract 21 pax from grid BS675452 upon contingency that reaction force and Ranger element made no new sighting. Extraction should be on call anytime after 121300hrs June 1971. Lift Capability based only on 1-20 Infantry extraction. At 1915hrs RF 716, at 101430hrs contact with VC at grid BS753538 results were 1 VC KIA, 3 homemade grenades CIA, no friendly casualties, not US confirmed. At 2025hrs TO Nui Vong FROM 1-20 Infantry Commanding Officer: provide 1 squad security force to RF with bull dossier at Fire Support Snoopy at 0900hrs Dossier will dig trash dump in AM, Security will escort dossier back to highway 1 upon completion. At 2101hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, bravo 7, Charlie 5 for a total of 14 out. At 2235hrs Delta Company LZ Liz CPT Gleaves inspected bunkers 13, 14, 15 and16 all satisfactory. At 2301hrs Charlie Battery 1-82 Artillery 155mm has 1 man who OD on drugs, brought up to Aid Station and will remain there for observation. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0840hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving to BS643566. At 0941hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Patrol has closed on checkpoint 2 at BS645570. At 1644hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon Patrol is moving to BS641554. At 1645hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon at BS640565 found 1 81mm round was rusty approximately 30 days old and located on a trail will blow it in place when Platoon moves out of Patrol Base. At 1810hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 4 at BS637552. At 2007hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon at BS642565, Command Post 3rd and 4th Platoons at BS632557 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling and Day Ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 0630hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is moving out to BS697480. At 0855hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving to BS699489, 3rd platoon patrol is moving out to BS708466 and 2nd Platoon patrol is at BS705456. At 2023hrs Bravo Company all elements in the Night Defense Position, Command Post with 3rd Platoon at BS708478, 2nd Platoon is at BS704450 and 1st and 4th Platoons at BS696485. At 2130hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon while in their Night Defense Position observed numerous lights to their west 700 to 800 meters, were in several different locations call in Fire Mission expended 14 HE Artillery 155mm we also has at 1st Light were on and then no lights vicinity BS700478.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0810hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon ambush closed on BS726414 and 1st Platoon is in their Patrol Base at BS713439. At 1047hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving to BS706435 and at 1100hrs 2nd Platoon Patrol closed on BS726414. At 1700hrs Charlie Company requested priority Dust Off for 1 US (medic) with 103.2 temp and numbing left shoulder, Monachino, Paul C., picked up by Resupply Bird (Dolphin 16) completed at 1428hrs vicinity BS726428. At 1810hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon received info from 2 coke kids vicinity BS722445 7-10 years old, that 5 VC wearing ARVN uniforms and civilian clothes of assorted colors, 3 VC were carrying M-16 rifles with 3 bandoleers of ammo and 1 was carrying a carbine with 2 magazines. The VC robbed coke kids of money and evaded into village vicinity BS732447. At 2013hrs Charlie Company in Night Defense Position Command Post and 3rd Platoon at BS724429, 2nd Platoon at BS715440, and 1st Platoon at BS638564 with 6 Mechanical ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to conduct the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0015hrs LZ Liz Delta Company bunker line inspected by CPT. Ross 1, 2, 3, 4 all satisfactory. At 1346hrs Delta Company LZ Liz, 1st Platoon scrambled to assist LRRP that has made contact with 6-10 VC/NVA at grid BS674452 in base camp. At 1348hrs Primo 6 on station, Combat Assault force were 4 slicks, 2 guns, 1 AMC Minuteman 20 on station at 1433hrs at 1455hrs PZ for Delta Company 1st Platoon from LZ Liz. At 1500hrs Animals inserted at grid BS677446, at 1510hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon inserted at grid BS677446. At 1537hrs LRRP team found 40 pounds rice in cans and small amount of ammo. At 1548hrs Commanding General arrived at LZ Liz at this time. At 1945hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon at grid BS680446 found the following items, Medical supplies consisting of morphine, penicillin, bandages, pills and assorted drugs, 16 Chi Com grenades, 8 pistol belts with accessories such as canteen with canteen cups, bandages, ponchos. Also 2 rockets 3 ½ to 4 ½ long, 4 RPG Boosters, 1 RPG rocket, 3 1 ½ rockets, 300 pound unpolished rice, 1 AK 47 (good condition), 1 82mm mortar site, 3 shovels, 2 picks, 1 machete, 10-15 cooking utensils (bowls and pots). Also found 500 rounds of AK 47 ammo, 2 AK 47 magazines, 1 homemade gas mask, documents, 15-20 hammocks with mosquito net, civilian clothing, pants, shirt, shorts, 3-4 bags white powder crystals, 1 bag white powder, pistol belt with NVA with star on buckle, Rockets were homemade. At 2235hrs Delta Company LZ Liz CPT Gleaves inspected bunkers 13, 14, 15 and 16 all satisfactory.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
