Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1700hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC S-5 report at grid BS7143 10 of Chieu Hoi tape was targeted at C 219, at grid BS6060 10 minutes of VIP was played, and at grid BS7360 10 minutes of Chieu Hoi tape was targeted at C 19. Bravo Company had 2 Vietnamese children turn in 13 60mm rounds at BS716599. Then 1 child leaded them to a cache of new rounds Lot # M49A2E2 and MA-12-109, the rounds were in excellent condition 3500 Vietnamese VIP money was paid to the informer. Bravo Company 1 Platoon at BS706622 is conducting Med Caps daily and the Command Post element at BS733652 is conducting Med caps approximately 1 a week or as necessary in their location. At 2150hrs TMF FM Time 2142hrs String 76, Stationary target with negative metal confirmation, engaged with 5 HE 105 artillery rounds were fired at 2200hrs. At 2155hrs Major Bassett requested through Brigade TOC that 105mm Artillery support be provide from a company size operation planned for 13 July 1970 vicinity BS723467 to BS715489. Are of Operation is presently not within maximum effective range of 105 Artillery can not be provided, requested that operation be conducted under 155 artillery support from Charlie Battery 1-82 Artillery located on LZ Liz. Late Report at 0600hrs MACV Duc Pho at BS780437 the Van Truong security chief was KIA by a booby trap on the shoulder of Highway 1. The area was covered with propaganda leaflets also between LZ Liz access road and Van Truong approximately 10 booby traps were found by the mine sweep team. No other details are known, information is from Duc Pho Senior Advisor.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Bravo Company
July 11, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0820hrs Bravo Company the 59, 58 and the 26 elements have closed and the 37 element is moving out. At 1255hrs Bravo Company a child accompanied by an ARVN soldier sold the 17 element a 60mm round for $500 piaster and the child’s name is Le Van Long. At 1530hrs Bravo Company the 37 element discovered a cache of 12 rounds of 60mm and 25 to 30 empty casings at BS716599 #491E2 and M-12-109 with one pistol belt also found. A Vietnamese child shows the 34 element where this cache was. The rounds were in excellent condition and paid the child 3500$ Vietnamese. The cache was found 10 meters off the Red Ball near a haystack, there were many people in the area all the time. MACV Mo Duc was informed with the round evac to MACV Mo Duc. Charlie Company

At 0925hrs Charlie Company the 17 and 36 element has closed and the 26-57 and 58 elements are moving out on their Patrol. At 0927hrs Charlie Company all our elements have closed on their Day Logger. Charlie Company Night Defense Position is at BS804444 with multiple ambushes out. At 2345hrs Charlie Company the 36 element sprung an ambush on a light which looked like someone lighting a cigarette, 100 meters west of BS818440. They engaged with small arms fire and checked the area with illumination. They found 2-3 sets of footprints. After following them is southwest direction they had negative findings. They set up a new ambush location 100 meters south.
Delta Company

At 0544hrs Delta Company reports multiply patrols have started to move out in their Area of Operations. At 0710hrs Delta Company 34 element found a Dud 105 round 200 meters south of their Day Logger and it was not booby trapped but had been tamper with at grid BS739565, destroyed in place. At 0732hrs Delta Company 35 element made contact with 3 VC 2 with packs and engaged with small arms fire and did not get any return fire. The three VC were between the ages of 21-22 dressed in all back. The VC evaded to the east with the 35 element sill in pursuit, we found drag marks. A female said that there where VC in the Area vicinity BS755558. At 0927hrs Delta Company all elements are in the preplanned Day Logger with the 14 element is at 738574 and the 34 element is at 739567.At 1600hrs Delta Company the 37 element got one VC KIA, a Vietnamese male, age 20-25 vicinity BS752545, while moving through a Ville. He was wearing green pants and a blue shirt. He had civilian clothing, a basket with a poncho liner (US), US flashlight and one US Hand frag in it. We were reacting to intelligence from Mo Duc that three were VC in the area. He had no ID, the VC was walking toward the element and when he spotted the US he attempted to evade to the south engaged at 300 metes, there were no documents in the basket. At 1645hrs Delta Company the 37 element has closed on their Day Logger at BS725550. At 2023hrs Delta Company reports they have closed on their Night Defense Position with multiple ambushes out tonight.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0515hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 7 for a total expended of 41 HE and 11 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1645hrs Recon Platoon the call sign of the element at LZ Max OP tonight will be PAPA 22. At 1755hrs Recon Platoon reports the 22 patrol is in their location.
