Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry is located at LZ Liz and continued their Mission and working with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0800hrs Bravo Company on LZ Liz reports 1 NVA Chiu Hoi came up to bunker #18 with his hand up. He had a Chiu Hoi pass with him. Name: LE Ngoc Kho, age 20 years old. He states he is from 4th Company 7th Battalion 5th Regiment, 1-20 Infantry thinks he is from 4th Company 7th Battalion 22 regiment, also states he’s is ammo bearer for the Company. Which is a combat support unit, last night he left from BS652451, where his unit is located, he believes that 3 Companies are at that location also 1 Company went north and company went to the beach and 1 remains there as far as he knows. Last night 30 men went to Thach Tru at BS782476 to pick up rice. At 0100hrs last night he saw the lights at LZ Liz and left the group to Chiu Hoi, he had a pack, 1 sight for a 57 RR and 1 hand grenade wearing a pistol belt he will be evac to LZ Bronco.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0013hrs LZ Bronco Base Defense reports visibility poor, hill can not observe bunker line, going to gray alert and will remain on it for remainder of the night. At 0740hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS897268 were ambushed received 1 round B-40 rocket, also received approximately 150 rounds of automatic weapons fire, returned fire with results 2 US WIA. They were Dust Off to Duc Pho. Alpha Company 4-21 Infantry also checked out the area with negative results. At 2150hrs LZ Bronco SI-5 reported spotting 5 personnel at BS842405 fired 8 rounds 4.2 and 16 rounds of 105 and there was no further movement noted. PFC Kirk Snyder was evac to 312th Evac Hospital at 1825hrs with possible injured to back.
Alpha Company
July 11, 1969
At 0927hrs Alpha Company moving out of Night Defense Position using a Recon in Force to Day Logger BS734453, the 94 element will go small patrol BS745460, plan for patrols to BS746469, BS749474, BS755474 and BS753470. At 1930hrs Alpha Company is moving into Night Defense Position BS741462 with the 94 snake moving. At 2012hrs Alpha Company has US with both hands burned, will wait till morning to have him extracted. Flare went off he grabbed it and stack it in the ground to keep from their position away. At 2045hrs Alpha Company we just had our 94 element sprung their ambush, Result has an NVA KIA and was carrying a basket and he threw a grenade at them. Checking him out will keep you informed, at grid BS728460 KIA was killed by our Point Man with an M-16 had nothing in basket and there was the one grenade. Alpha Company at 2200hrs the 94 moving to BS749460 to sweep the area.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0900hrs Bravo Company at 0800hrs 11 July, had one NVA Chieu Hoi come up to Bunker 18 with his hands up at Liz, carrying a Chieu Hoi slip his name is LE Ngoc Khoai, he is 20 years old. He is PFC from 4th Company 8th Battalion, 22nd Regiment. This is a combat Support Company, he thought his unit was the 74th Company, 7th Battalion 5th Regiment, but was sure we checked and found it to be the above unit. He is an ammo bearer, and his company is at grid BS652451. Last night 30 men picked up rice at the following Ville (Thach Tru #2, grid BS652451). At 0100hrs he seen the lights and two more men in his company wants to Chieu Hoi, they were not with him when he went to pick up the rice. He was carrying a complete pack, also had a sight from a 57 recoilless rifle. He also had one hand grenade and was wearing a pistol belt, but no weapon.
Charlie Company

At 0615hrs Charlie Company will pick up the 44 element on the way to Bronco. At 0717hrs linked up with the 44 element and are closing on Bronco at this time. At 1855hrs Charlie Company now departing LZ Bronco and at 2000hrs we are now in our Night Defense Position BS833374, my shake will be the 94 element at BS923366 be in position by 2010hrs.
Delta Company

Delta Company Command and Control Helicopter pick up man Ireland at 0720hrs. At 0840hrs Delta Company is leaving Day Logger at this time and our present location at Day Logger Position is BS797417 at 1010hrs. Entire element to Recon in Force to general grid BS8042, and Night Defense Position at BS797414, and the snakes 64 element at BS796413. At 1815hrs Delta Company request priority Dust off for 2 US with high temperature, possible malaria personnel names are A. Jones and Hatten at grid BS797417. At 2003hrs Delta Company moves into Night Defense Position, and reports at 2020hrs Delta 34 element is in position.
Echo Company
July 11, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0655hrs Recon Platoon conducts a Combat Assault PZ 0630hrs and LZ at 0655hrs LZ Cold. At 0900hrs Delta Company vicinity BS786464, while blocking for Recon Platoon captured 3 VCS females, no ID or anything that pertaining to them. At 0945hrs Recon Platoon reports location at BS797443 as they are moving to grid BS803472. At 2045hrs Recon Platoon is located at LZ Liz.
