Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0817hrs 1-20 Infantry request an Area of Operation extension for DATE/TIME/GRID 111200 January 1970 to 152400 January 1970 from BS770434 and northeast along the stream to BS785385. The purpose is to allow Charlie Company to maneuver on their Recon in Force Operation. At 0910hrs 1-20 Infantry the Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz, was briefed by the Battalion Commander and left at 0930hrs and at 0940hrs Battalion Commander left LZ Liz inbound to Chu Lai. At 1050hrs 1-20 Infantry the Division Commander arrived at LZ Liz, was briefed by the S-3, and left at 1105hrs. At 1405hrs The Results of the Gun Ship assault was 1 Vietnamese child male (KIA) his parents from Duc Pho plan to retrieve the body from 1500hrs to 1700hrs and there will be 10 in the party and they will be carrying a Vietnamese flag. At 1715hrs Brigade a SLAR Mission was flown this morning from 110105 to 110400 January 1970, with 100% coverage grid BS728406-1 MTI. At 1740hrs MACV to Major Neilson, CPT Upton and the District Chief will be available anytime after 0800hrs, tomorrow morning. At 2040hrs LZ Liz IOS spotted 1 light moving slowly at grid BS735434 and we fired 155 artillery. At 2215hrs LZ Liz IOS we have spotted stationary lights at grid BS799455.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
January 11, 1970
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0757hrs Alpha Company all snakes and the 07 SRRP have closed on LZ Liz. At 1540hrs all bunkers are in good condition and all have plumb bobs, Alpha Company inspected by LZ Szurek. At 1813hrs Alpha Company reports all snakes are in position the 47 at BS764423, the 27 snake at BS772441, the 46 snake at BS762437 and the 06 snake at BS765434.
Bravo Company

At 0755hrs Bravo Company all our snakes have closed on their semi permanent position. At 1245hrs Bravo Company Urgent Dust Off, 1 Vietnamese civilian who hit a booby trap and has frag wounds of the left leg and head at grid BS789417, Dust Off completed at 1300hrs. Bravo Continued to work with the PF again out of their semi permanent positions and use Recon in Force and both (Day and Night) ambush in their Area of Operation. At 1933hrs Bravo Company 26 snake is at BS792412, Gorilla is moving to BS790445 and the Rangers are moving to BS799442. At 1945hrs Bravo Company the 06 element is moving to BS780464, the 08 element is moving to BS787450 and the 25 element to BS784420.
Charlie Company
January 11, 1970
At 0835 Charlie Company one US (Bass) was dust off by the Command and Control Helicopter at 0840hrs with severe stomach pains at grid BS791342 (I believe PFC Charles Bass). At 1005hrs we are moving out for our Night Defense Position to grid BS797317. At 1045hrs Charlie Company engaged (15 to 20 NVA/VC) with small arms and 81mm and we requested gun ships and they came on station at 1053hrs. Helix came on station at 1053hrs. The enemy had yellow hats and dark uniforms. The air craft broke station at 1135hrs. At 1155hrs Charlie Company we have a total of four Vietnamese children detained from the area where Charlie Company spotted the 15 to 20 NVA/VC. The ages of children are from 6 to 10 years; we are going to detain only the three oldest one for questioning. At 1305hrs Charlie Company at BS797342, we will accept re supply. At 1450hrs Charlie Company reported the results of sweep after the gun ship assault were: we found 4 boys, 9 years old, who said they were to watch the water buffalo. There were no water buffalo in the area, later they said they were waiting for US to leave to police up the C Rations cans. They also said there were six of them and 2 got away. These personnel were not the same as the 20 personnel we originally spotted. We found negative KIA. At 1825hrs Charlie Company all element have closed on BS797342.
Delta Company
January 11, 1970
At 1040hrs Delta Company the 24 and 44 elements are moving out of the Night Defense Position. At 1325hrs Delta Company the 21 element is moving out on their Recon in Force to grid BS6842 along with the 64 and 04 elements. At 1335hrs The Battalion Commander is leaving LZ Liz to make a Visual Recon. At 1700hrs Delta Company the 24 element found a base camp with 10 to 20 hootches with bunkers. Delta Company spotted 20 VC/NVA, sweeping area we found papers and also flash lights. The VC/NVA were fired on and they ran through the bushes. The 24 element said it looked as though there were around 50 personnel in this base camp vicinity BS698405. There were also women with VC/NVA they spotted. We found writing tables that out of SP Packs and with writing that looked like counting of rice or currency. Also there was a band aid box with medicine in it and a letter. It appears the letter, was written by a GI, with Vietnamese writing on a letter. At 1740hrs Delta Company the 44 element is at Night Defense Position at BS694418. Delta Company re supply for the 24 element will be accepted at BS703405. At 1836hrs Delta Company the Night Defense Position for the 24 element is at BS703405, the 44 Night Defense Position is at BS694418 and the Night Defense Position is at BS694418 and the Night Defense Position for the 21, 64, and 04 elements is at BS798415.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0825hrs 4.2 Platoon reports a total expended of 54 HE and 20 Illumination rounds last night. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
