Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0835hrs 1-20 Infantry reports mine exploded killed 1 Vietnamese boy and water buffalo, killed. 1-20 Infantry S-5 and medics going to site at BS863325 time 0810hrs. At 0910hrs Commanding General is at 1-20 Infantry location. At 1624hrs Colonel Beers stated that in his Area of Operation literally hundreds of people, women, children and men were moving east. At 1920hrs LTC Beers reports that the Mike Force requests Military assistance in interrogation and control of people moving into his area. 7 families have arrived to night with stories of VC killing and stealing, recommend Military Intelligence send someone as so as possible. 1-20 Infantry informed that Military Intelligence will dispatch by helicopter tonight at 1845hrs. At 2245hrs 1-20 Infantry chopper en route to this location with Military personnel, Mike Force reports confirmed VC, 1 possible VC. 3 C.O. Mike Force will keep individuals until tomorrow at which time they will be picked up and sent to this location informed Major Smith Duc Pho.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
January 11, 1968
At 0212hrs Received from SLAR Radar from Americal Division TOC that 5 moving targets were picked up vicinity BS780360. Artillery could not be used because of Alpha Company. The 1-20 Infantry fired 6 rounds 4.2 mortar rounds into the area. Alpha Company Search and Destroy mission center of mass is at BS850272. At 1000hrs Recon and the 2nd Platoon Alpha Company found numerous tunnels and checking them now. At 1118hrs Alpha Company 2nd platoon at BS881313 received fire from house at BS881313, returned fire results 2 VC KIA, 2 weapons captured, 1 carbine SN# 6815528, wearing green uniforms. No friendly casualty’s tunnel located under fire place-searching bodies found no ID’s found pictures. At 1212hrs Alpha Company found small boy medical supplies and small transistor radio, set at 850KC also documents, maps, flag (Red Yellow with gold star). At 1645hrs Alpha Company is location at BS851282 and 2nd Platoon ambush location in the vicinity BS876276. At 1715hrs Alpha Company reports 2nd Platoon ambush at BS876276.
Bravo Company
January 11, 1968
At 1210hrs Bravo Company Command Post at BS810275 as Bravo Company continued to conduct Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operation. At 1645hrs Bravo Company is located at LZ OD. PFC James R. Wadley was attached to the 67th Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and bridges in their Area of Operation.
Delta Company
January 11, 1968
Delta Company continued their Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation and at BS838287 found a tunnel complex 3 X 3 entrance way which going in 5 feet makes some turns inside. Beginning to check out area with negative results and spotted a group of people wearing Khaki jacket. Delta Company has moved into their Night Lager Position at BS812287. Morning Report SP4 Tommy L. Wallace attached to 67 Medical Evac Hospital Qui Nhon.
Echo Company

Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 0140hrs 1-20 Infantry reports 4.2 mortars have sunk a sampan, vicinity BS898287, there were no secondary explosions. At 0212hrs received from SLAR Radar Americal Division TOC that 5 moving target were picked up vicinity BS780360. Artillery could not be used because of Alpha Company ambush. 1-20 Infantry fired 6 rounds of 4.2 mortar fire, into the area. At 1100hrs Recon Platoon with Alpha Company 2nd Platoon is at BS850272 and found numerous tunnels and checking them now. Recon Platoon at 1645hrs returns to LZ Thunder to again take part in the Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1907hrs Recon is located working with Alpha Company is located at BS855285 with snakes at BS852288 and BS858901. At 1645hrs Recon reports their location on LZ Thunder.
